The Dell Pro 7 Rechargeable Compact Keyboard (KB746) pairs a space-saving layout with a numpad, wireless connections for up to three devices, and rechargeable supercapacitor technology. Dell advertises up to three months of runtime per full charge and says five seconds of charging provides a full day of use; those figures are manufacturer claims, not independently tested results here. The main tradeoffs are no backlighting and the need to confirm that the keys and shortcuts you rely on work as expected with your operating system.
What the Dell KB746 offers
Dell describes the KB746 as a quiet, low-profile keyboard with scissor switches, adjustable tilt, proportionately sized arrow keys and a number pad. Its compact design keeps the numpad, a useful distinction for people entering figures who still want a smaller keyboard footprint. The keyboard measures 14.21 × 4.78 × 0.82 inches and weighs approximately 1.13 lb, according to Dell.
Dell lists 13 programmable keys. That is a hardware and feature specification, not evidence of a particular productivity gain: useful customization depends on your workflow and supported software.
How fast does it charge, and how long does it last?
The KB746 uses rechargeable supercapacitor technology and charges through USB-C. Dell says a full charge lasts up to three months, and that five seconds of charging provides a full day of use. Dell’s product page describes this as “Turbo charge in just 5 seconds for a full day’s use.” These are Dell’s claims; no independent runtime or charging test is established here. Actual results may vary with use.

#1 Best Overall
A USB-C-to-USB-C charging cable is included. The supercapacitor design is a notable alternative to keyboards powered by replaceable or conventional rechargeable batteries, but the available product information does not establish comparative lifespan, charging performance or durability.
Can it connect to multiple devices?
Yes. Dell says the KB746 can switch among its included Secure Link USB receiver and two Bluetooth connections. That gives it three connection options in total: one receiver connection and two Bluetooth device connections. The receiver is USB Type-A, so a computer without a Type-A port may require a connection solution of your own. The included charging cable is USB-C to USB-C.

Dell lists the package contents as the keyboard, charging cable, Secure Link USB receiver and documentation. The product specification describes the connection options, but does not independently establish switching reliability or latency.
What are the main tradeoffs?
- Compact layout with a numpad: The KB746 keeps a number pad and proportionately sized arrow keys while Dell describes its design as compact and suitable for smaller desks.
- No backlighting: Dell lists the keyboard without a backlight, which may matter if you often type in dim rooms.
- Quiet, low-profile keys: Dell specifies scissor switches and quiet low-profile keys. Real-world sound and typing comfort have not been independently assessed here.
- Three connection paths: You can pair two Bluetooth devices and use the Secure Link receiver, subject to the port and operating-system needs of your setup.
- Customization is platform-dependent: Dell lists broad device compatibility, but its Display and Peripheral Manager customization utility is listed for supported Windows versions.
Compatibility and customization
Dell lists compatibility with Windows 10 and 11, macOS 11 or later, Linux/Ubuntu, ChromeOS, iPadOS 14 or later, and Android 9 or later. Dell Display and Peripheral Manager is listed for Windows 10 (build 17763 and later, x64) and Windows 11 (x64).

Compatibility does not guarantee that every key legend, shortcut, or programmable-key function behaves identically on every platform. Before buying, check that the specific operating system and applications you use support the key behavior and customization you need.
Warranty, materials and price
Dell lists a three-year limited hardware warranty with Advanced Exchange Service. Warranty terms and service availability can vary by country, so check the coverage that applies in your location. Dell also says the keyboard uses up to 72% post-consumer recycled plastic by total plastic weight.

The KB746 is worth considering if you want a compact wireless keyboard that retains a numpad, need to switch among a receiver-connected computer and two Bluetooth devices, and prefer a low-profile design. It is a weaker fit if backlighting is essential or you depend on custom key behavior that you cannot verify on your operating system. Treat Dell’s charging and runtime figures as advertised claims rather than proven expectations when weighing the purchase.
