Delhi’s minimum temperature on October 3
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) observation at Safdarjung, Delhi’s base weather station, was 23.2°C, unchanged from Friday. Hindustan Times reported the reading and its comparison with normal temperatures for this time of year. This is a station-specific figure, not a temperature recorded uniformly across the city.

Delhi AQI: 171 and moderate at 9 a.m.
The city-level AQI was 171 at 9 a.m. on October 3, according to CPCB data cited by Hindustan Times. The report identifies PM10—not PM2.5—as the predominant pollutant for this observation. An AQI from 101 to 200 is classified as moderate in the report.

This 9 a.m. value is an observation at a particular time; it is not the daily average. AQI can change over the course of a day, so the figure should be read with its timestamp rather than as a fixed value for all of October 3.
What the October forecast said about rain
The forecast published on October 3 said Delhi was likely to remain mainly dry over the next few days, with isolated to scattered rainfall possible from October 6 to 8 as a western disturbance affected northwest India. An unnamed IMD official quoted by Hindustan Times said rainfall activity was expected to increase from October 6 and that isolated to scattered rain was likely over Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi during October 6–8. This was the forecast at publication, not confirmation of what subsequently occurred.

How the readings compare with recent air-quality averages
A separate Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change release provides broader context, but its figures measure averages rather than the 9 a.m. reading above. The ministry reported a September 2026 average AQI of 102, the lowest September average in the five-year comparison it published.

The ministry also counted 194 days with a daily average AQI below 200 from January through September 2026. Its comparison was 187 days in 2025, 188 in 2024, 193 in 2023 and 146 in 2022. These are daily-average counts across the stated January–September periods, not counts derived from the October 3 morning observation.
