What has been revealed about Danganronpa 2×2 character art?
Spike Chunsoft says that “Character portraits will feature new illustrations.” Its July 2026 announcement includes some images of the revamped character art, but the accompanying screenshots are from the Japanese development version. The publisher notes that English subtitles were added for illustration and that the images do not represent the final English version. Fine details in those screenshots should therefore be treated as provisional.

The official game page describes the shared premise: Hope’s Peak Academy students arrive on Jabberwock Island for a tropical school trip, which turns into a killing game. Slayhem changes the case outcomes rather than simply presenting the original story with different artwork.
Who is Sakutaro Higashi?
Sakutaro Higashi is a newly announced character who debuts in Slayhem mode. Spike Chunsoft’s September 23, 2026 announcement names Natsuki Hanae as his Japanese voice actor and Griffin Burns as his English voice actor. His Ultimate talent was not revealed in that announcement; Burns’ promotional comment explicitly left it for players to discover.

Spike Chunsoft’s English game page lists Danganronpa 2×2 for release on January 14, 2027, for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Games Store. The page lists Japanese and English text and voice, and ratings of ESRB Mature, PEGI 16, and USK 16. These are the details listed on the official page as of October 3, 2026; check it for any later changes.
