For an Edgerunners-inspired run, start by reducing HUD clutter, enabling Cinematic Subtitles, lowering aim assistance, and using Radioport to keep music playing while you explore. Then adjust camera motion, weapon sway, Breach Protocol timing, and PC image scaling around your own comfort and hardware. Cyberpunk 2077 does not include an official Edgerunners preset; the setup below combines the controls CD PROJEKT RED added or expanded in Update 2.1 with practical choices for a more cinematic, demanding playthrough.
What an Edgerunners-style setup is trying to achieve
The anime’s appeal comes from a strong sense of place, uninterrupted music, readable character moments, and fast combat that still feels dangerous. In the game, no single switch recreates that presentation. The closest result comes from balancing four competing goals:
- Immersion: remove interface elements that are not needed in the current moment.
- Navigation: retain enough map and objective information that Night City does not become needlessly frustrating.
- Manual combat: reduce assistance so weapons, positioning, and timing matter more.
- Cinematic comfort: keep useful camera effects only when they do not cause eye strain, ghosting, or motion discomfort.
Update 2.1, released in December 2023, added a dedicated Accessibility tab and expanded HUD, subtitle, camera, aim-assist, and weapon-sway controls. The labels below refer to those controls. Menu wording and available graphics options can differ by installed version and platform, so check the settings on your own copy before starting a long playthrough.

Clean up the HUD without losing the city
Reduce decorative elements first
In the Accessibility tab, enable Reduce HUD Decorative Elements. CD PROJEKT RED describes this option as hiding elements that are unnecessary for gameplay to reduce clutter and improve visibility. It is the safest first change because it removes visual noise while preserving the information you normally need to play.
Remove distortion only when it helps
Remove HUD Visual Effects targets HUD ghosting, while Remove HUD Lens Distortion removes the curved or distorted presentation applied to interface elements. These options are useful if bright icons leave trails, if the display looks warped, or if you want a cleaner screenshot-like image. They are not mandatory for immersion: some players prefer the stylized interface effects. Change one option at a time so you know which effect was bothering you.
Choose navigation over strict minimalism when necessary
The minimap and objective markers are practical rather than cinematic, but removing them can turn ordinary travel into menu checking. Keep them if you are learning Night City, following a dense quest chain, or playing in short sessions. A useful compromise is to reduce decorative elements and visual effects while leaving the minimap and objectives available. That preserves the city’s atmosphere without making navigation a memory test.

Make dialogue readable and keep ambient voices present
Cinematic Subtitles
Enable Cinematic Subtitles for story conversations. Adjust text size and cinematic subtitle background opacity until lines remain legible against bright signs, rain, and moving backgrounds. Increasing the background opacity improves contrast; reducing it produces a cleaner image but can make text disappear into the scene.

Radio and overhead dialogue
Radio Subtitles are useful when music or environmental noise makes broadcasts difficult to follow. Overhead Subtitles expose nearby NPC speech that would otherwise be easy to miss. Enable them when you want a fuller sense of the city’s conversations, and leave them off if you prefer the screen to show only mission-critical dialogue. These are independent choices, so you can keep cinematic subtitles while omitting ambient text.
Turn aim assistance into a deliberate choice
Ranged weapons
The ranged aim-assist control has four levels: Off, Light, Standard, and Substantial. Start with Off for the most manual gunplay. Choose Light if small corrections help with a controller but you still want to place most shots yourself. Standard and Substantial are valid accessibility choices, but they reduce the amount of aiming work you perform and therefore change the feel of a high-risk shootout.
Leave Snap to Target off for an Edgerunners-like sense of commitment to each target. If you find yourself missing because of input sensitivity rather than decision-making, try Light aim assist before enabling snap. That preserves more control than jumping directly to the strongest assistance.
Melee weapons
Melee aim assist has three levels: Off, Light, and Standard. Off makes blade and blunt-weapon attacks depend on your camera and spacing. Light can compensate for small alignment errors without fully steering attacks. Standard is the most forgiving choice when close-quarters accuracy is difficult.

Vehicle combat
Vehicle combat aim assist is a separate On/Off toggle. Set it independently of ranged and melee assistance. Keep it On if driving while firing is the part you find least comfortable; turn it Off if you want vehicle encounters to demand the same manual control as on-foot fights.
Shape the camera and weapon movement
Additive Camera Motions
Additive Camera Motions controls secondary movement layered onto the main camera. Leaving it on can add kinetic energy to sprinting, impacts, and other actions, which suits a stylized action scene. Turn it down or off if the extra movement distracts you, makes aiming inconsistent, or causes motion discomfort. A cinematic setting is not useful if you cannot comfortably track the center of the screen.
Weapon Sway
The Weapon Sway setting lets you decide whether sway affects the camera or the weapon’s position. Camera sway makes the entire view move and can feel more intense; weapon-position sway keeps more of the world stable while the gun shifts in your hands. Test both while standing still and while aiming. Choose the option that gives you the visual movement you want without obscuring targets.

These controls should be treated separately from aim assist. You can use manual aiming with reduced camera motion, or keep a lively camera while using Light assistance. Combining every high-intensity option is not automatically more authentic; it can simply make targets harder to read.

Keep a continuous soundtrack with Radioport
Update 2.1’s Radioport lets you listen to the radio while on foot or while riding the NCART train. In vehicles, it switches to the car radio, and it stops when quest-specific music begins. That behavior makes it a strong fit for free-roaming between missions: the soundtrack follows you through walking and public transit without overriding scenes that have their own score.
Use Radioport when you want exploration to feel like a music-video sequence. Expect the track to yield to quest music rather than treating that change as a malfunction. If the radio is silent during a story moment, the game may be prioritizing that mission’s music by design.
Choose the right Breach Protocol pressure
Update 2.1 added an option to disable the Breach Protocol timer. Keep the timer enabled when you want hacking to create pressure and reward quick planning. Disable it for a relaxed role-play run, for accessibility, or when you would rather study the sequence without a countdown. This setting changes the minigame’s urgency; it does not turn every breach into an automatic success.

Balance image quality and frame rate on PC
Select a scaling family
PC Graphics Settings offer several resolution-scaling families: DLSS Super Resolution, AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.1, and Intel Xe Super Sampling 1.2. Select the family appropriate for your hardware, then adjust its quality mode rather than assuming one option is universally best.
Use Dynamic Resolution Scaling deliberately
Dynamic Resolution Scaling can trade output resolution for a steadier frame rate when the scene becomes demanding. Tune it alongside image quality while looking at the parts of Night City that stress your system most: dense streets, heavy weather, and combat effects. A stable image generally feels more cinematic than a sharper image that stutters.
Do not copy a hardware-free “ultimate” preset
There is no honest universal PC preset without your GPU, display resolution, and performance target. Update 2.1’s PC options also include HDR choices, but the correct HDR result depends on the display and its calibration. Make one change at a time, return to a busy area, and judge clarity and motion together. The same quality setting can look different on a 1080p monitor and a high-resolution HDR screen.
Three complete profiles you can copy
The profiles below combine the documented controls into distinct priorities. They are editorial starting points, not hidden presets in the game.

Apply the setup in a controlled order
- Open the game’s Settings and go to the dedicated Accessibility tab introduced with Update 2.1.
- Set HUD cleanup and subtitle options first. Confirm that mission information remains readable before removing the minimap or objective markers.
- Set ranged, melee, and vehicle aim assistance independently. Test a short fight after each change instead of changing every control at once.
- Adjust Additive Camera Motions and Weapon Sway while moving and aiming. Keep the more dynamic option only if your eyes remain comfortable.
- Enable Radioport and verify its behavior on foot, on NCART, and in a vehicle.
- Choose whether the Breach Protocol timer belongs in your run’s role-playing rules.
- On PC, select the resolution-scaling family suited to your GPU, then tune Dynamic Resolution Scaling and image quality in a busy area.
Common problems and the setting to change
- The screen feels cluttered: enable Reduce HUD Decorative Elements, then consider Remove HUD Visual Effects.
- HUD elements look curved or distorted: try Remove HUD Lens Distortion.
- Subtitles vanish against the environment: increase text size or cinematic subtitle background opacity.
- Aiming feels like the game is steering: lower ranged aim assist and keep Snap to Target off.
- Melee attacks miss by a small margin: move melee aim assist from Off to Light rather than increasing every assistance setting.
- Camera movement is uncomfortable: reduce Additive Camera Motions and test weapon-position sway instead of camera sway.
- Music stops during a mission: quest-specific music can override Radioport by design.
- PC performance swings in busy scenes: tune Dynamic Resolution Scaling and image quality for your installed GPU and display rather than copying a generic preset.
Version and platform scope
The controls described here come from CD PROJEKT RED’s Update 2.1 accessibility and patch materials published December 1–5, 2023. Update 2.1 is supported on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. PC players receive the documented resolution-scaling choices; console graphics menus will not necessarily expose the same controls. The Ultimate Edition includes the base game, Phantom Liberty, and Update 2.0, but the settings guidance itself concerns the Update 2.1 feature set. Check the installed game version and platform-specific menu before relying on an exact label.
