For most achievement hunters, the original Hades is the better pick. Its 49 Steam achievements make repeated escape attempts serve several purposes at once: progressing the story, developing keepsakes, pursuing weapon goals and meeting specific run conditions. Choose Cult of the Lamb if you prefer a more varied checklist that mixes combat with settlement management, collecting and challenges such as defeating bosses without taking damage. The comparison is preference-based, not a claim that either game is objectively harder. One important scope difference: the Steam count for Cult of the Lamb includes nine achievements from its paid Woolhaven expansion.

The table compares the Steam lists, not a universal total across consoles. Cult of the Lamb has 56 achievements on Xbox according to TrueAchievements, while the Steam list displays 57. Platform and included content matter when a “100%” goal is tied to a particular storefront.
Those totals also describe different kinds of checklists. Hades’ 49 are all within its displayed Steam list, while Cult’s 57 comprise a 48-achievement base game list plus nine tied to the paid Woolhaven expansion. If you are comparing the number of tasks, say which platform and content scope you mean first. The larger displayed number is not, by itself, evidence of a longer or more demanding hunt.
What makes each achievement hunt feel different?
Hades builds its checklist around returning to the same core activity—attempting an escape—while adding story, collection and run-specific goals. Cult of the Lamb spreads its objectives across more kinds of play, pairing crusades with the growth and upkeep of a persistent settlement.

Hades: repeated escapes with several kinds of progress
The 49-achievement Steam list rewards more than reaching the end of a successful run. One for the Ages points toward reaching the epilogue, while Friends Forever asks players to max-rank standard keepsakes. Skelly’s Last Lamentations calls for earning a second prize, and Champion of Elysium requires clearing Elysium with Extreme Measures active. These examples give the list a long-horizon structure: story progress, relationship or collection investment, and deliberate combat conditions all contribute.
That structure is a good fit if repeating a central challenge feels satisfying when each attempt can move a different objective forward. You may be pursuing story progress over the long term, improving keepsakes, or working toward a particular run condition. The achievements named above illustrate how the same broad activity can support several different completion goals; the checklist is not only a record of successful escapes.
It can be less appealing if you want every achievement to represent a distinct activity or if you would rather alternate between action and management systems. The list does not establish a precise completion time, and those varied objectives should not be mistaken for a promise that every player will progress at the same pace. Its appeal is the accumulation of overlapping goals, not a guaranteed short route to completion.

Cult of the Lamb: a broader checklist across combat and management
The base-game achievements name objectives across crusades, followers, lore, outfits, relics and settlement-related progression. That breadth makes the list feel less like a single repeated combat loop. A player may be pursuing a collection or management goal in one stretch, then face a specific combat test in another.
The clearest skill spikes are Order, Sate, Cure and Peace: each is tied to beating one of the four Bishops without taking damage. This is a different kind of demand from a long-term collection target. A no-damage objective puts the emphasis on execution in a particular fight, while collection and management goals ask for attention over a longer span.
This mix is the central reason to choose Cult of the Lamb if your idea of a satisfying checklist is variety. Its achievements are not limited to crusade performance: the named categories point to activity in and around the cult as well as collecting. That means the hunt can ask you to change focus rather than treat every achievement as another variation on one run. The tradeoff is that a full Steam counter now also crosses into paid expansion content.
Woolhaven extends the list with its own objectives. One example is Respect Thy Mother, which requires defeating Yngya without attacking her. That unusual condition reinforces the expansion’s role as an additional set of challenges rather than simply more of the same checklist. The nine expansion achievements are a distinct purchase-scope question, not a reason to assume that every cosmetic add-on is needed.

Is Hades harder to 100% than Cult of the Lamb?
There is no supported objective ranking that makes one list universally harder. The more useful distinction is what kind of difficulty you enjoy: Cult of the Lamb explicitly includes four no-damage Bishop fights, while Hades combines demanding run conditions with story and collection goals that unfold over repeated attempts.
In Cult of the Lamb, the Bishop achievements make precision in specific boss encounters an obvious hurdle. The Yngya challenge in Woolhaven adds a different constraint: defeating a target without attacking her. These are identifiable tests, but they do not describe the entire hunt; the broader collection and settlement objectives contribute to its overall shape.
Hades also has combat-condition objectives. Champion of Elysium calls for an Extreme Measures clear of Elysium, and the list includes an undamaged Infernal Gate clear. Alongside those, the epilogue and max-rank keepsake achievements make persistence and progression central parts of completion. A player who finds successive run goals motivating may prefer that blend; someone who would rather tackle a short, sharply defined boss challenge may find the no-damage achievements in Cult more compelling.
In other words, “harder” depends on the obstacle that tends to slow you down. If flawless boss fights are your sticking point, the named Bishop challenges are a clear warning sign. If a hunt feels tedious when it requires multiple runs and gradual collection progress, Hades’s structure may be the less comfortable fit. Neither list is skill-free, and the documented objectives alone do not support a universal difficulty verdict.

A no-damage boss achievement is a focused execution test; reaching an epilogue or max-ranking keepsakes represents progress over time. The lists contain both kinds of work, but in different proportions. If you are choosing based on the specific challenge you least enjoy, use the named requirements as a better guide than a simple achievement count.
Do I need Woolhaven to get every Cult of the Lamb Steam achievement?
Yes, if “every” means filling the Steam achievement counter shown for the game as checked on October 30, 2026. Steam displays 57 achievements: 48 for the base game and nine for the paid Woolhaven expansion. The storefront’s full count and the base game’s own completion milestone are different targets.
Woolhaven is paid content, unlike the free Relics of the Old Faith and Sins of the Flesh expansions. The publisher’s Steam description says, “The content of this expansion is only accessible near completion of the base game,” so it is not presented as an early-game route through the checklist. Keep the scope of your goal explicit before deciding whether the expansion is necessary. If you only want to complete the base-game list, the 48 base achievements are the relevant Steam figure. If your target is 57 out of 57 on that storefront, the nine paid expansion achievements are part of the counter. The in-game Godhood goal should not be treated as interchangeable with the store’s full DLC-inclusive achievement count.
That distinction matters when budgeting as well as planning. A base-game completion target does not require buying Woolhaven simply because Steam displays the combined number beside the game. Conversely, a player who wants every Steam entry should treat the expansion as part of the target and account for its purchase. The nine Woolhaven objectives do not imply that paid cosmetic packs are required.
How long do the achievement hunts take?
One published estimate puts Hades’s Xbox completion at 60–80 hours for all 49 achievements. TrueAchievements estimates 20–25 hours for Cult of the Lamb’s Xbox base achievements, explicitly excluding DLC. These community estimates cover different scopes, so they do not show that the full, current Cult of the Lamb hunt takes roughly one-third as long.
Use the figures as rough planning references, not guarantees. The Cult estimate does not include Woolhaven, and individual progress through combat challenges or long-term objectives can differ. The Hades figure is for the Xbox list, not a controlled comparison of the two games or a measured time for every player.
The comparison is especially easy to misread because one estimate covers the base list only and the other is presented for the full 49-achievement list. Neither number should be treated as a like-for-like measurement of the Steam lists. The figures can help you think about the possible scale of a commitment, but they cannot settle which hunt is shorter for you or how long the DLC-inclusive Cult list will take.

Which has the better platinum hunt?
For a PlayStation trophy hunter, Hades is the better-supported choice in the available platform information: it has boxed PlayStation editions, and a platform guide reports 49 achievements plus an additional PlayStation platinum trophy. Treat the platinum as a PlayStation-specific distinction rather than adding it to the Steam achievement count.
The platform you buy on changes what “complete” means. Steam’s 57 for Cult of the Lamb includes its nine paid Woolhaven achievements, while TrueAchievements lists 56 on Xbox. For Hades, the 49 Steam figure and the reported PlayStation platinum describe different platform systems. Before committing to a platform-specific hunt, check the list attached to that platform rather than carrying a total from another store or console across.

If you want a physical copy of Hades for a trophy-focused PlayStation setup, the most directly relevant search phrase is “Hades PS5 physical edition.” Supergiant has documented boxed PlayStation releases. “Hades PS4 physical edition” and “Hades Xbox physical edition” are also relevant searches, but confirm the individual retailer listing, edition details and current stock before buying. A disc is a format choice; it does not make achievements or trophies easier.
Supergiant describes a digital PS5 upgrade for the PS4 version and Xbox Smart Delivery for its Xbox release. Those are platform-specific purchase details, so check the current product page for the edition you intend to use. The developer also documents a boxed Switch edition, with Amazon named as a North American retailer, but that is a weaker fit if your goal is a PlayStation trophy list. A Cult of the Lamb Collector’s Edition for PS5 or Switch was announced with a stated March 12, 2027 release; that date is in the future as of October 30, 2026, so it should not be mistaken for an already released physical option.

No: a boxed Switch edition is a Switch purchase, not a PlayStation copy, so it is not the version to choose for a PlayStation trophy list. Supergiant documents a boxed Switch edition and PC–Switch cross-saves, but says Xbox and PlayStation do not support those PC cross-saves. Its Hades FAQ states: “The Xbox and PlayStation versions of Hades do not support PC cross-saves like the Nintendo Switch version.”
If your goal is a trophy-bearing PlayStation run, choose a PlayStation edition. If you want the Steam list, buy and play the Steam version; a physical edition on another platform does not transfer that platform’s achievement record. The cross-save note is also not a promise of a shared trophy or achievement list: Supergiant’s statement is specifically about PC cross-saves and names Nintendo Switch as the supported counterpart.

Choose the original Hades if you want a cohesive hunt in which successive escape attempts feed story, keepsake, weapon and combat-condition goals. Its case is strongest for players who enjoy refining repeated runs and watching several types of progression accumulate. It is also the clearer recommendation for a PlayStation trophy hunter based on the platform information here.
Choose Cult of the Lamb if you want a more eclectic checklist and like switching between combat and settlement-oriented play. Its named no-damage Bishop achievements offer clear precision challenges, while its broader collection and management objectives vary the work. If “all achievements” means every Steam entry, include the paid Woolhaven set when weighing the scope and cost.
