CSR BlueCore7 was a 2008 single-chip wireless platform announced to combine Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR, Bluetooth low energy (BLE), enhanced GPS (eGPS) and FM radio transmit and receive. It was designed for handset and portable-device makers—not sold as a modern Bluetooth adapter. A separate CSR chip, BC0401PC08, is documented in USB Bluetooth dongles and PC modules.
What BlueCore7 integrated
BlueCore7 brought several wireless functions together on one chip: Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR for data and voice connections, BLE as a lower-power connectivity option, CSR’s enhanced GPS approach, and FM radio reception and transmission. The purpose was to reduce the number of separate radios and supporting components a device maker needed to design into a handset or portable product.
CSR said its eGPS approach shared processing and memory resources with the host platform and Bluetooth subsystem, with the aim of lowering implementation cost and power. The announcement described FM reception and transmission as functions intended to coexist with Bluetooth. It did not publish a quantified power saving, board-area reduction or coexistence test result.

The figures below are those CSR published in its 2008 announcement; they are specifications, not independent measurements.

CSR announced QFN and WLCSP package options and said volume production would begin in Q4 2008. That announcement is not evidence of present-day inventory or availability.
BlueCore7 is not the same chip as BC0401PC08
BC0401PC08 is a related CSR Bluetooth radio/baseband IC documented for USB dongles and PC Bluetooth modules. It is not the multi-radio BlueCore7 platform: its cited datasheet describes Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR, not integrated BLE, GPS or FM transmit and receive. The two chips should not be conflated when looking at specifications or products.

These are different product types as well as different feature sets: BlueCore7 was pitched as a highly integrated platform for device designers, while BC0401PC08 was a Bluetooth component used in PC-oriented products. The supplied specifications do not establish directly comparable power consumption or board-area figures for the two chips.
What can you buy that uses a CSR Bluetooth chip?
A documented finished-product example is StarTech’s USBBT2EDR2 USB Bluetooth adapter, which the company identifies as using CSR’s BC0401PC08 chipset. Its listed characteristics include a USB interface, 2.4 GHz operation, a maximum transfer rate of 3 Mbps and Class 2 Bluetooth with a stated 10 m range. This is a related CSR Bluetooth adapter—not a BlueCore7 product, and not evidence that the adapter includes GPS or FM radio.

For a legacy adapter, searching for “USB Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR adapter” is more useful than searching for BlueCore7. The StarTech model is a documented example, but current stock, compatibility with a particular operating system or device, and present-day pricing are not established here. Engineers seeking the bare BC0401PC08 should verify component availability and documentation with a supplier; no current inventory claim follows from the legacy datasheet.

It is a historical integration example, not a modern Bluetooth 5.x consumer adapter.
