Control Resonant has 17 Parautilitarian Abilities: five for traversal and 12 for combat. A 2026 GamingBolt guide associates the combat abilities with six Resonant bosses, but its list does not establish every ability’s full prerequisite or route. Use the checklist below to identify each ability and its reported boss association; the Park quest is the clearest documented example of a complete unlock route.

All 17 abilities at a glance

The five traversal abilities help Dylan navigate the environment. The 12 combat abilities cover defense, direct attacks, crowd control, status effects, and summons. The combat boss pairings below are reported by GamingBolt’s ability guide; a pairing identifies an association, not a verified step-by-step unlock condition.

Ability What it does
Double-Jump Press jump again while airborne to gain additional height.
Elevate Hold jump while airborne to levitate and glide.
Rush Performs a short dash or burst of speed and can remove certain status effects.

Reach Uses a grapple or hookshot to reach otherwise inaccessible places.

How to unlock Growth or Spore Burst in The Park

The Park quest is listed as optional to finishing the story and can be completed during the Epilogue. This route is documented by ControlResonantGame.com.

  1. At the cafe in the central pit, inspect and eat the mold.
  2. Collect the other three mold pieces at the Pizzeria, Minimart, and Gym. The three locations can be visited in any order.
  3. Return to the Mold Gate and open it after collecting all four pieces.
  4. Fight The Collective by clearing its active tentacles, then attack its exposed core.
  5. After the encounter, choose either Growth or Spore Burst.

This account establishes the Park quest’s sequence and the choice offered after the boss, but it does not explain how to obtain the other ability from that pair.

Choosing abilities for your loadout

Combat ability usefulness depends on the situation, and the guide’s recommendations are opinions rather than objective rankings. Some abilities are presented as mutually exclusive early choices, while combat abilities also face slot limits. Consider what a particular ability contributes before committing a slot:

  • Traversal access: Double-Jump, Elevate, Rush, Shift, and Reach address movement rather than competing for combat ability slots.
  • Defense or damage: Shield offers a defensive option with an offensive use; Barrage and Inferno focus more directly on attacks.
  • Area control or setup: Ground Slam, Push, and Inferno can affect groups or space, while Ignite and the Mold abilities build on fire or Infected effects.
  • Summons or direct attacks: Volatile Anomaly, Growth, and Spike add summoned attackers; Barrage and Spore Burst provide projectile attacks directly.
  • Slot and charge trade-offs: Command uses a limited charge but does not take a dedicated slot. The source does not give comparable numerical costs for the other abilities.
