The announcement gives no figures for the increase and does not mention weekly caps, so it does not confirm that weekly limits stayed the same.
What changed with Claude Opus 5.5?
Anthropic’s September 22, 2026 announcement says it is increasing five-hour usage limits for Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans. It does not say by how much. The announcement also describes a rate-limit reset that subscription users can save and use when they choose, but it does not explain all the feature’s operating rules. Read Anthropic’s announcement.
Did weekly usage caps stay the same?
The announcement does not discuss weekly caps. It therefore supports the five-hour-limit increase, but does not establish whether weekly caps still apply, whether their amounts changed, or what the current allowance is for any particular plan. Treat the title’s claim that weekly caps were retained as unconfirmed by this announcement; do not infer a weekly allowance from the session-limit change.
A secondary limits explainer discusses five-hour and weekly limits, but it is not an official source for current plan rules or whether weekly amounts remained unchanged. For a decision about your own account, check the current plan-limit information shown by Anthropic for your plan and region.

Which plans get the higher five-hour limit?
Anthropic names Claude Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans. The announcement does not provide plan-by-plan figures, geographic differences, or a numeric comparison with the previous limits. Anthropic’s model page also lists Opus 5.5 availability across those subscription plans and for developers through Anthropic’s platform and cloud providers. See Anthropic’s Claude Opus page.
Subscription limits are separate from API billing
Claude subscription usage limits are not the same as API token charges. Anthropic lists Opus 5.5 API rates of $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens; those are usage-based API prices, not monthly subscription fees. The model page lists a one-million-token context window and a maximum output of 128,000 tokens. These technical limits do not state how much a subscriber can use within a five-hour or weekly period. Check the Claude Platform model documentation.
