What CISA announced
CISA’s March 3, 2026 announcement added CVE-2026-21385 to the KEV Catalog. The notice describes it as the “Qualcomm Multiple Chipsets Memory Corruption Vulnerability” and says the addition was based on evidence of active exploitation.
The notice does not name an attacker or campaign, quantify exploitation, or establish how long the flaw has been exploited. Its statement supports that CISA considers the vulnerability actively exploited; it does not establish that every device using Qualcomm components is affected.
What federal agencies are required to do
Under Binding Operational Directive 22-01, Federal Civilian Executive Branch (FCEB) agencies are required to remediate vulnerabilities listed in the KEV Catalog by the due dates specified for each entry. CISA’s announcement explains that directive’s scope and points agencies to the catalog for remediation deadlines.

The March 3 notice itself does not state CVE-2026-21385’s specific due date. Agencies should consult the current CISA KEV Catalog entry and apply the deadline and requirements listed there.
What other organizations should do
CISA says BOD 22-01 applies only to FCEB agencies, but strongly urges all organizations to prioritize timely remediation of KEV vulnerabilities as part of vulnerability management. For organizations outside that federal scope, this is CISA’s recommendation, not a claim that the directive imposes the same legal requirement on them.

Organizations should identify whether their devices and software are affected, then follow applicable vendor and device-maker guidance. The KEV announcement is a prioritization signal; it does not confirm that a particular update is available or installed across a fleet.

CISA’s notice identifies the CVE and the KEV addition, but is not a device-level patch guide. It does not provide an affected chipset or device inventory, patched software versions, or the CVE-specific deadline. Those operational details should be confirmed in the current KEV entry and Qualcomm’s relevant security bulletin, along with update guidance from the manufacturer of the affected device.
