For a pre-recorded stream set up in Castr, the playlist limit is 2 files on Starter or Standard, 10 on Premium, and 15 on Ultra, according to Castr’s product page. These are per-stream Castr limits—not a verified limit for playlists created directly on YouTube.
What the Castr limit counts
Castr plays uploaded or imported video files as a live broadcast and can send that broadcast to YouTube. The playlist count is the number of files in that Castr pre-recorded stream; it is not the number of videos you can add to a native YouTube playlist or upload to YouTube as ordinary on-demand videos.
Castr’s Help Center describes the workflow as supporting MP4 files, with uploads from a computer or imports from cloud storage. Castr says media-file counts and video sizes depend on the subscription. Castr Help Center: How to Start Streaming Pre-recorded Videos
Playlist limits by Castr plan
| Castr plan | Files in one pre-recorded stream playlist | Maximum file duration |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 2 | 60 minutes |
| Standard | 2 | 120 minutes |
| Premium | 10 | 240 minutes |
| Ultra | 15 | Not stated on the cited product page |
The playlist counts and stated durations are Castr plan limits on its product page, accessed October 3, 2026. The page also says storage, concurrent streams, and loop availability vary by plan; check Castr’s current plan details for your account before subscribing, since limits can change and the published page does not provide a complete durable plan matrix. How Castr handles a pre-recorded playlist
Instead of viewers starting each video on demand, Castr plays the files out as a live feed at the scheduled time or loops the playlist. Castr says, “No encoder or live source is needed.” Its product page lists YouTube among the available destinations; supported destinations and their limits depend on the plan.
Choose a schedule or a loop
- Schedule Date Time: set a start date and time for a broadcast. Castr’s scheduler uses the device’s time zone.
- Infinite Loop: keep the playlist cycling. Whether looping is available and for how long depends on the plan.
Castr documents these modes in its scheduling guide: Scheduling Modes In Castr Pre-recorded Live.

Prepare compatible files
Castr’s setup help says the pre-recorded workflow supports MP4. Its separate recorded-video recommendations, published December 18, 2023, suggest constant bitrate, a 2-second keyframe interval, Full HD (1920×1080), 30 FPS, and 4,000 Kbps. Those are recommendations from that dated help page, not the playlist limit or a confirmed current requirement; consult Castr’s latest guidance if you need exact encoding targets. Check which limit you mean
- Adding files to one Castr pre-recorded stream: use the plan counts above.
- Uploading videos to YouTube individually: the Castr playlist figures do not answer that question.
- Creating a playlist on YouTube: the cited Castr sources do not establish YouTube’s native playlist limit.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a continuous YouTube stream from uploaded videos, StreamNeo is an alternative: upload your video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the files as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube streams from uploaded videos, not camera broadcasts. See StreamNeo or start the free day.
