An opening-stage demo is available, according to Konami’s 1 October announcement; this preview covers the publisher’s announced features and specifications, not firsthand play impressions.
When does Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse release?
Konami lists 15 October 2026 as the release date. The game is planned for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. Check the relevant regional storefront for current availability and purchase details.
Konami describes the title as an exploration-based 2D action game, also styled as “2D Action-Exploration” on its official site. Its announcement identifies KONAMI and Evil Empire as development partners, with Motion Twin in an advisory game-studio role. Konami’s 1 October 2026 announcement confirms the launch date and demo news; the official European game site provides product specifications.
Who is Rose Belmont, and where does the story take place?
The story unfolds in Paris in 1499, 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. Konami’s premise places Trevor Belmont and his daughter Rose in a city engulfed by fire as monsters emerge and a castle looms. Rose becomes the central character as the story develops, with the publisher describing her growth and a dark conspiracy beneath the city as key parts of the narrative. Konami’s original announcement introduced this setting and premise.

What gameplay has Konami announced?
Whip-based combat and traversal
The Vampire Killer whip is presented as both a weapon and a movement tool. Konami says Rose can swing through the environment for freer traversal while fighting through fast-paced action. That makes the whip a central part of the announced combat and exploration, rather than only a means of attacking enemies. The PlayStation Blog post by Moeko Nagaoka, Promotion Planner at Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd., discusses the whip and the setting.
Weapons, Relics and Arcana
The PlayStation product description lists weapons across seven categories and Relics with offensive or defensive effects. Players can combine equipment found through exploration. It also names bosses including Death, Medusa and Carmilla, as well as new bosses such as Joan of Arc. According to that description, defeated bosses are sealed into Rose’s tarot cards as Arcana, which provide skills for spells and special actions. These are publisher product descriptions, not independently verified play findings. See the US PlayStation product listing.
