What is the G-Shock MUDMAN GDG-B100?
The GDG-B100 is a digital MUDMAN built for users who want a highly protective outdoor watch without giving up basic phone-connected functions. T3 and Tom’s Guide describe it as a new MUDMAN rather than evidence of a permanent “latest G-Shock” ranking. Casio continues to announce watches across several G-Shock families and markets, so availability and release timing can differ by country.

How rugged is the reported construction?
Current coverage describes a chunky, bumper-style case with protection at the front and rear. Those bumpers are intended to shield the central case from impacts. Tom’s Guide also reports carbon-fiber-reinforced resin and sealed construction, with gaskets around the button shafts to help keep mud and dust out.
These are launch specifications reported by the outlets, not independent laboratory or hands-on durability results. The descriptions support an impact- and dirt-conscious design, but they do not establish how the watch performs after particular drops, temperatures or long-term use.

Is the MIP display easier to read outdoors?
The GDG-B100 uses a Memory-in-Pixel LCD. T3 and Tom’s Guide say the display is intended to keep information clearer in bright outdoor light than a conventional low-contrast digital screen. At night, an automatic red LED backlight is reported to illuminate the display.
Actual readability still depends on viewing angle, ambient light and the selected screen information. No independent visibility test is documented for this model.

What does the MUDMAN GDG-B100 track?
The reported activity and training functions focus on running-style metrics and everyday movement:
- Distance
- Speed
- Pace
- Estimated calories
- Accelerometer-based step counting
- Storage for up to 100 lap times
- An interval timer with up to five programmable settings
The sources describe these as watch features. They do not establish GPS positioning, heart-rate measurement, sleep analysis or the broader health platform found on many dedicated smartwatches.

Does the Casio G-Shock GDG-B100 get smartphone notifications?
Yes. According to T3 and Tom’s Guide, the watch connects over Bluetooth to the Casio Watches app and can provide vibration alerts for supported phone notifications. Reported examples include calls, email, social-media alerts, calendar notifications and reminders.
This is notification alerting rather than full smartwatch functionality. The coverage does not say that the watch can display complete message threads, run third-party apps, answer calls or reply to messages. Notification behavior can also depend on the phone’s operating system permissions and the app’s support in your market.

What can the Casio Watches app do?
Reported app functions include transferring training and daily-activity data, adjusting the watch’s time automatically, changing watch settings and configuring world time for approximately 300 cities. The app is therefore useful for setup and data management as well as alerts.
Casio’s support page for module 5724 contains connection instructions for that module, but the documentation does not identify module 5724 as the GDG-B100’s module. Its exact setup sequence and connection-time settings should not be assumed for this watch; use the instructions supplied for the GDG-B100 when available.

Tom’s Guide and T3 both report the £200 UK price and three styles. The reviewed coverage does not verify a US price, current stock, launch date in every country or the final price in other currencies. Check Casio or an authorized retailer for the exact variant and regional availability.
How it differs from other G-Shock models
Do not transfer specifications from other watches to the GDG-B100. Casio’s GA-B010 page covers a different G-Shock and its Tough Solar charging, 20-bar water resistance, Carbon Core Guard construction and related functions are not established for the MUDMAN. The GPR-H1000 Rangeman is also separate; Casio lists GPS, Bluetooth, solar-assisted charging and a dedicated charging cable for that model, none of which the reviewed GDG-B100 coverage confirms.
Who should consider it?
- Outdoor and field users: The reported bumpers, sealed construction and mud-focused MUDMAN design suit people who prioritize physical protection.
- Runners and interval trainees: Pace, speed, distance, laps and five programmable interval settings cover straightforward sessions without requiring a phone on the wrist.
- Minimalist phone users: Bluetooth setup, automatic time adjustment and vibration alerts add convenience without turning the watch into an app platform.
- Full smartwatch buyers: Look carefully at the feature limits. The reported functions do not establish GPS, heart-rate sensors, rich message handling or app installation.
What to verify before buying
- Confirm that the listing says G-Shock MUDMAN GDG-B100, not another MUDMAN or G-Shock reference.
- Check the seller’s regional price, warranty and delivery status; £200 is the reported UK price, not a confirmed worldwide price.
- Verify that your phone supports the Casio Watches app and that notification permissions are available for the alerts you want.
- Choose the exact colorway, since black, dark green/orange and sand/black versions are reported.
- Review the model-specific manual for charging, water-resistance and connection details instead of assuming specifications from GA-B010, GPR-H1000 or another G-Shock.
The Bottom Line
The GDG-B100’s appeal is the combination of a protection-first MUDMAN case, outdoor-oriented MIP display and useful training data with basic Bluetooth notifications. Recent coverage supports those capabilities, but not independent durability results, universal availability or the advanced sensors and smartwatch features of other G-Shock families.
