A successful screenshot capture uses one credit, so you can take up to 100 successful screenshots in a billing period only if you use no credits for other billable CaptureKit endpoints. The credits are shared across all API keys in a workspace, not granted separately to each key.
How many screenshots does 100 CaptureKit credits cover?
CaptureKit’s billing documentation lists its Free plan at $0 per month with 100 credits per month. The screenshot endpoint costs one credit per successful capture. That makes 100 successful captures the maximum from the monthly allowance if every credit goes to screenshots. Other billable endpoints draw from the same pool, so using them reduces the number of screenshots available. CaptureKit’s plan documentation and credit documentation describe the quota and costs.
How the credits are shared and charged
One pool for the workspace
The monthly allowance applies workspace-wide: all API keys in a workspace share the same credit pool. Creating multiple keys does not multiply the Free quota. For an account’s current balance and renewal details, check its dashboard or Usage endpoint; the published plan information does not establish an individual workspace’s live balance or enforcement state.
Successful captures use credits
A synchronous screenshot request is billed when it returns HTTP 200. An asynchronous request is billed when its job completes successfully; checking job status does not cost credits. Failed jobs are not billed according to CaptureKit’s credit documentation. CaptureKit notes special behavior for 404 responses, so do not assume every error is treated identically. See the credit rules and capture endpoint reference.

What the Free plan includes—and what remains unclear
CaptureKit’s pricing page lists PNG, JPEG, WebP, and PDF among Free plan features. It also presents paid plans with larger credit pools. The page’s feature bullets and comparison table conflict on some advanced capabilities, so verify a specific feature in your account or with CaptureKit support before relying on it.
| Plan | Price shown | Monthly credits shown |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0/month | 100 |
| Starter | $7/month | 1,000 |
| Pro | $29/month | 10,000 |
| Ultimate | $89/month | 50,000 |
These plan amounts are those shown on CaptureKit’s pricing page; prices and entitlements can change, so check the live pricing page before choosing a plan. The paid credit pools are shared across the workspace according to CaptureKit’s plan documentation.

When CaptureKit Free is enough
- It can cover occasional captures or a small test workload if the workspace’s other billable endpoints do not use the credits.
- For a workload needing more than 100 successful screenshots in a month, or credits also consumed by other endpoints, compare the paid quota with your expected usage.
- Count successful captures rather than raw attempts: synchronous HTTP 200 responses and successfully completed asynchronous jobs are the billed events described in the documentation.
An alternative: ScreenshotNeo
If you are choosing a screenshot API, try ScreenshotNeo first: it removes cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets before capture, and only clean shots are billed. Its free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. It also provides an MCP server for AI agents.
Or skip the browser setup: make one GET request for a screenshot. See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for API details.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo does not bill bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, or cache hits. Sign up free for 1,000 screenshots a month with no card.
