The Canon MAXIFY BX110 is a compact, battery-capable A4 colour inkjet for people who need to print away from a desk. Its portability is the point: it weighs about 2.3 kg and supports wireless and direct printing. But it is print-only, lacks automatic duplexing, and is slower and more expensive to run than a full-size office inkjet—particularly for black pages. It makes sense when mobility matters more than those compromises.
What the Canon MAXIFY BX110 offers
The BX110 is an A4 colour inkjet printer with no scanning or copying functions. Canon UK lists dimensions of approximately 322 × 210 × 66 mm with the trays retracted and a weight of about 2.3 kg. It is small enough to carry between work locations, though it is still a dedicated piece of equipment rather than something to slip into a pocket.
Canon’s UK package listing includes the printer, AC adapter and power cord, PGI-35 black and CLI-36 colour ink tanks, print head, USB Type-C cable, and LK-72 rechargeable battery attachment. The battery attachment is listed as part of that package, so do not assume you need to buy it separately when assessing a particular regional bundle. Check the box contents for the exact listing you intend to purchase.
Canon lists a 50-sheet rear paper tray, print speeds of 9 ipm in mono and 5.5 ipm in colour, and a battery capacity of up to 330 pages per charge. These are manufacturer specifications and claims, not guaranteed results: actual speed and battery life depend on the document, settings, and usage. How it prints
ITPro’s review, published on 27 August 2025, found the BX110’s graphics and photos generally detailed and crisp. The reviewer noticed banding in very dark colour fills and slightly warm or pink skin tones in photos. Those observations suggest it can produce pleasing output for a portable printer, but colour-critical work may not match your expectations without checking prints on your own paper.
Its advertised speeds suit occasional or modest printing better than a queue of documents. At 9 ipm mono and 5.5 ipm colour, the BX110 is not built to rival a full-size office inkjet for throughput. ITPro likewise described it as slower than a full-size inkjet.

Battery, connections and setup
Canon says the rechargeable battery can print up to 330 pages per charge and can be charged over USB Type-C. Treat the page figure as a best-case manufacturer claim rather than a promise for every mix of text, graphics, photos, and print settings. Canon lists printing through its PRINT app, Apple AirPrint, Mopria for Android, and Wireless Direct, which lets a compatible device connect without a router.

Ink and running costs
The BX110 uses Canon PGI-35 black and CLI-36 colour cartridges. Canon lists these as compatible supplies on its BX110 cartridges page. ITPro judged running costs high, particularly for black printing. Its review estimated around 102 10 × 15 cm photos from the tri-colour cartridge and a cost of 10.6p (12.7p including VAT) per print. That is the reviewer’s estimate for that photo size and its assumptions, not a universal current cost per print.
Cartridge prices and yields vary by market and purchase date, and no current country-specific price or general cost-per-page figure is established here. Before buying, compare local cartridge prices and the yields quoted for the exact supplies available to you; consider how much of your expected use will be black text versus colour.

What you give up for portability
- No scanning or copying: the BX110 only prints, so it cannot replace an all-in-one device.
- No automatic duplexing: it cannot print both sides of a sheet automatically.
- Slower output: it is less suited to frequent, high-volume document runs than a full-size office inkjet.
- Higher black-print costs: ITPro specifically flagged black printing as expensive to run.
These limitations matter less if the printer’s job is to produce occasional A4 pages on location. They matter considerably more if it will be your main home-office printer.
Who should buy the Canon MAXIFY BX110?
It is a good fit if
- You need standard A4 pages in places without a permanent printer.
- A rechargeable battery and wireless or direct printing are more valuable than speed or all-in-one functions.
- Your workload is occasional or moderate, and you accept the cost of portable printing.
Look elsewhere if
- You need scan, copy, or automatic two-sided printing.
- You regularly print large volumes of black text or need fast office-style throughput.
- Your priority is the lowest running cost rather than portability.
How it compares with other portable A4 printers
ITPro names the Epson WorkForce WF-110W and HP OfficeJet 200 as alternatives in the portable A4 inkjet category. In its comparison, the reviewer said the BX110 had more than twice the Epson’s paper-tray capacity, better battery page capacity, and lower running costs. These are findings from that 2025 review, not a current, region-by-region comparison of every configuration. Check the specifications, battery inclusion, local cartridge costs, and current prices for the exact models you are considering.
