Four were arrested in Surrey; the fifth, Sanket Singla, was arrested at Toronto Pearson International Airport on October 1, 2026, after investigators identified him while he was in India. The reports describe a police-coordinated operation that facilitated his entry into Canada and arrest, but do not explain its precise mechanics. These are allegations, not findings of guilt.
What police say happened
According to Hindustan Times’ October 3, 2026 report, the Langley RCMP investigation began in June 2025 after co-owners of an auto dealership reported significant extortion demands. The reports say the dealership’s locations in Surrey and Langley were attacked twice, in incidents involving arson and shootings.
Police reportedly identified a group they allege was involved in extortion, prohibited-firearm trafficking and controlled-substance trafficking. The reports do not establish that any accused person has been convicted of those offences.
Who was arrested
Hindustan Times reported that the accused are Sanket Singla, 23; Sahil, 24; Simranjeet Singh, 24; Harsh, 21; and Jagdeep Singh, 24. Global News’ October 2 report describes the five as foreign nationals. The reports say four were arrested in Surrey and Singla was arrested at Toronto Pearson on October 1.

It reports that the RCMP coordinated with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), and international RCMP liaison officers in a controlled operation that facilitated his entry into Canada and arrest. The reports do not explain exactly how the operation worked, so claims that he was “lured” to Canada go beyond the details they provide.
What charges are reported
The coverage lists charges that include extortion, recklessly discharging a firearm, causing damage by fire or explosion, throwing an explosive substance with intent to damage property, and unauthorized transfer of a prohibited firearm. Global News also reports a cocaine-trafficking allegation against Sahil. These are not charges against every accused in every instance; the reports describe individual charge details, and the listed offences should not be treated as a single set applying to all five.
Charge wording and each person’s current court status should be checked against official court records. The reports summarize police announcements and do not report a finding of guilt.
What police say was seized and what may happen next
Hindustan Times and Global News report that investigators seized four firearms, ammunition, magazines and substances police described as suspected fentanyl, cocaine and opium. Those drug identifications were reported as suspected, not confirmed.

Global News reported that investigators had evidence pointing to other suspects and extortion-related offences across Western Canada. Langley RCMP superintendent Harm Dosange said investigators were sharing evidence with police colleagues elsewhere and expected partner agencies to lay more charges “in the very near future.” That statement records an expectation at the time of the October 2 report; it does not confirm that further charges were later filed.
