Yes, YouTube Studio can schedule a livestream for a later time, but scheduling does not play or loop a prerecorded cartoon. To broadcast the cartoon, you also need an encoder to send the video feed to YouTube. A 24-hour stream also crosses YouTube’s documented 12-hour thresholds for archiving and DVR, so don’t assume the full broadcast will be saved or fully rewindable.

What YouTube Studio scheduling does—and doesn’t do

In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, you can schedule an upcoming stream, create a watch page, promote the event and let viewers set reminders. Scheduling creates and manages the YouTube event; it does not supply the video that viewers will watch. YouTube Help’s scheduling guidance describes scheduling as a way to promote a stream.

For a prerecorded cartoon to appear in that event, an encoder must send a live feed to YouTube. YouTube’s documented workflow is to enter the event’s server URL and stream key in the encoder, start the encoder, wait for the preview in Live Control Room, and then click Go live. Auto-start and auto-stop settings concern starting or stopping the encoder stream; they do not make Studio loop a stored video file. See YouTube Help’s encoder instructions.

How to schedule the event and send the cartoon

  1. Check channel eligibility. YouTube lists channel verification, no livestreaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and a minimum age of 16 among its livestreaming requirements. Review YouTube’s livestreaming eligibility guidance before planning the broadcast.
  2. Schedule the event. Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live, then use the Live Control Room’s Manage and Schedule stream controls. Set the event details and planned time so the watch page is available in advance.
  3. Configure an encoder. In the encoder, select the cartoon file or playlist and confirm that the encoder supports looping the material for the intended duration. Copy the stream URL and stream key from the scheduled YouTube event into the encoder. Keep the stream key private; anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your channel.
  4. Start and verify the feed. Start streaming from the encoder at the planned time. Check that the Live Control Room preview shows the expected cartoon and that stream health is acceptable. Then click Go live when the preview is ready. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring the stream; its guidance discusses software encoders and recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production events, but does not make hardware mandatory for this use case. See YouTube’s streaming guidance.
  5. Monitor the full run. Test the chosen encoder’s loop behavior with an unlisted stream before relying on it for a public 24-hour event. Arrange a way to check the feed and recover if the encoder, connection or YouTube stream stops. The encoder’s own current documentation is the place to verify looping, reconnect behavior and operating-system requirements.

What changes when the stream is 24 hours long?

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A 24-hour stream exceeds that documented threshold, so do not promise that YouTube will automatically save the complete broadcast as a replay. YouTube also says DVR capabilities may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours, which can affect viewers’ ability to rewind, pause or resume. Check YouTube’s DVR guidance and plan the event around those limits.

The official guidance covers scheduling an event and receiving an encoder feed; it does not promise that Studio itself can loop a file indefinitely, that any encoder can do so, or that one 24-hour session will be fully archived. Confirm the selected encoder’s behavior and test the whole workflow rather than assuming a scheduled event will run unattended.

Copyright and channel considerations

Before streaming a cartoon, make sure you have the rights or permission needed to broadcast it on YouTube. A scheduled watch page and a live encoder feed do not establish that you are entitled to use the footage, music or other material in the cartoon. Review the rights for every element in the recording and YouTube’s applicable policies before making the event public.

Also distinguish permission to broadcast from eligibility to monetize: having a file or being able to stream it does not by itself establish that a channel meets YouTube’s monetization rules. The sources cited here describe livestream scheduling, ingestion, archive behavior, DVR and eligibility; they do not determine whether a particular cartoon or channel qualifies for monetization.

Common problems and what to check

  • The event is scheduled, but viewers see no cartoon: scheduling only creates the event. Start the encoder, verify that it is sending the correct feed, wait for the preview, and click Go live.
  • The encoder cannot connect: check that the stream URL and key belong to the intended scheduled event, that the key was copied correctly, and that the encoder is actually sending data. If the key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube and update the encoder.
  • The cartoon stops or fails to loop: verify that the encoder supports continuous playback or playlist looping for the file format and operating system you use. Test a complete loop before the public event and plan how you will notice and respond to a stopped feed.
  • The replay is incomplete or viewers cannot rewind: a stream lasting more than 12 hours may have limited or unavailable DVR, and YouTube’s automatic archive statement applies to streams under 12 hours. Do not rely on a full 24-hour replay or rewind.
  • The channel cannot go live: check verification, age eligibility and whether the channel has had a livestreaming restriction in the past 90 days.
