Yes—if you have a Fire TV Smart TV with an antenna input, connect a digital antenna and scan for available over-the-air channels. A Fire TV Stick does not have an antenna input, so it needs a live-TV app or an antenna connected to the television or a compatible tuner. Which stations you can receive or stream depends on your location.

Set up an antenna on a Fire TV Smart TV
- Check the TV’s ports and locate its antenna/cable input. Connect a digital HDTV antenna to that input.
- On the Fire TV, open Settings > Live TV > Channel Scan and follow the on-screen prompts.
- Browse the channels found through the Live area, the On Now row, or the guide, depending on your Fire TV model and interface.
For better reception, Amazon’s antenna guidance suggests placing the antenna as high as possible and trying a window or an outward-facing wall. That is a placement tip, not a promise of reception: distance from transmitters, terrain, buildings, antenna placement, and local broadcast conditions can affect which stations appear. Check reception at your address rather than assuming a particular network or affiliate will be available.
What to do with a Fire TV Stick
A Fire TV Stick streams programming through apps; it does not have the TV’s antenna input. You can use a supported live-TV app, or connect an antenna to the television’s antenna port or to a compatible tuner or DVR. Check the precise model and ports before buying equipment. Amazon notes that live programming can come from supported apps and subscriptions, and that some apps require a paid subscription.
App compatibility is device-specific and can change. Hulu’s support information lists Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, but confirm support for your exact device and region before relying on an app.

Check paid streaming services for your local stations
YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV let prospective subscribers check channel availability by ZIP code. Use those lookups to confirm that the local ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, PBS, or other affiliate you need is actually listed for your market. Hulu says local, regional, and national live channels may vary and are subject to change.
A subscription can be more convenient than installing an antenna, but it has an ongoing cost and there is no guarantee its lineup matches the stations an antenna receives at your address. Compare the exact local channels, device support, subscription cost, internet requirement, and whether you need a guide or DVR before choosing. Current service prices and antenna costs are not established here, so check the providers and retailers directly.

Do free streaming apps replace local broadcast channels?
Not necessarily. Amazon lists free streaming services such as Pluto TV and Tubi, but that does not establish that either service carries your local broadcast affiliates. Check each app’s actual channel lineup; for local over-the-air broadcasts, an antenna connected to a compatible TV or tuner is the direct option.
