YouTube offers verification codes by text or automated voice call, so a landline may work if YouTube accepts the number and you can receive the call. YouTube’s guidance does not explicitly confirm that landlines are supported in every case, however. Phone verification is part of enabling live streaming, but other channel and stream-type requirements apply too.
How to try verifying with a landline
-
Open YouTube Studio and check your channel’s Feature eligibility. Follow the phone-verification prompts shown there. Labels or navigation may change, so use the current Feature eligibility area if the wording differs.
-
If YouTube offers a delivery method, choose voice call for a landline. This is a practical option because YouTube documents voice-call verification; it is not a guarantee that YouTube will accept every landline.
-
Answer the call and enter the verification code where prompted. If YouTube rejects the number or the call cannot reach you, request another code, try text if the number can receive it, or use a number from another carrier.

What verification enables—and what it does not
YouTube says phone-verified channels gain access to live streaming and other features. For live streams on a computer, its feature-access guidance places phone verification in the intermediate-access requirements. The channel must also have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Check your channel’s current status rather than assuming verification alone makes every streaming option available.
YouTube distinguishes mobile, webcam, and encoder streaming. Mobile has additional conditions: at least 50 subscribers, a verified channel, no live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days, live streaming enabled, and a compatible device. YouTube says the first mobile stream may take up to 24 hours to become available after enabling. These are mobile-specific requirements, not universal requirements for streaming from a computer.
