BIOS 6042 is the upgrade prerequisite
If the motherboard has a BIOS version earlier than 6042, update it before installing the 5700X3D. A board with an older firmware version may not recognize the new processor during startup.

How to check before changing CPUs
- Start the computer with the existing processor installed.
- Open the motherboard’s UEFI/BIOS setup and note the installed BIOS version.
- Compare that number with ASUS’s PRIME A320M-A CPU support entry.
- If it is below 6042, use ASUS’s instructions and the BIOS package for the exact PRIME A320M-A model to update it while the current CPU still works.
- After the update completes successfully, shut down, disconnect power, and replace the processor according to the CPU and motherboard manuals.
Do not use a BIOS file intended for a similarly named ASUS board. ASUS publishes support by exact model, and an incorrect firmware package can prevent the board from starting.
Confirm that your board is the exact model
Read the model marking printed on the motherboard itself and compare it with “PRIME A320M-A.” Variants with similar names can have different CPU-support lists and BIOS files. Select the matching ASUS support page before downloading anything.

What the support listing does—and does not—confirm
Confirmed
- The PRIME A320M-A has ASUS-listed support for the Ryzen 7 5700X3D.
- BIOS 6042 is the minimum validated version shown for that CPU.
Still dependent on your system
- Whether your currently installed BIOS can be updated successfully with the CPU already in the system.
- Whether your existing cooler can adequately handle the 5700X3D’s listed 105 W rating.
- Power-supply capacity, case airflow, memory configuration, and operating-system setup.
- The gaming or application performance you will obtain after the upgrade.
Those factors are not established by ASUS’s compatibility table, so check the relevant component manuals and your system’s specifications separately.

If your board is confirmed as an ASUS PRIME A320M-A and its BIOS is version 6042 or newer, the Ryzen 7 5700X3D is an officially supported CPU choice. If the BIOS is older, complete the firmware update first; if you cannot verify the model or update route, stop until ASUS’s exact support page and instructions are confirmed.
