Sign in normally, open the exact content, wait for it to finish loading, then run the extension on that tab. This does not bypass a login, and it cannot guarantee a complete archive: browser restrictions may prevent the extension from running, or the page may rely on content that has not loaded yet.
One important update: the SingleFileZ repository says the project has been merged into SingleFile. For current instructions, start with SingleFile and its file-format options.
How to try saving a page you can access after signing in
- Install or open the current SingleFile extension for your browser.
- Sign in to the site yourself, using its normal login process, then navigate to the specific page you want to archive.
- Wait until the page and the content you need are visible. If the site loads sections, images, or other material as you scroll or interact, allow those parts to appear first.
- Click the SingleFile toolbar button while the target page is the active tab. The documented workflow is to wait for the page to load and invoke the extension from that page.
- Open the saved file and check that the text, images, frames, and other needed resources are present.
The extension captures what it can process from the page you can already access. It does not sign in for you, preserve a live authenticated session as a guarantee, or make protected content available offline.
Check whether the extension can run on the page
A page being visible in your browser is not proof that an extension is allowed to process it. Browser security blocks extensions on some pages; SingleFile’s FAQ gives browser add-on pages as an example. If the toolbar action is unavailable or has no effect, first consider whether the browser restricts extensions on that particular address.

#1 Best Overall
- Easily store and access 2TB to content on the go with the Seagate Portable Drive, a USB external hard drive
- Designed to work with Windows or Mac computers, this external hard drive makes backup a snap just drag and drop
- To get set up, connect the portable hard drive to a computer for automatic recognition no software required
- This USB drive provides plug and play simplicity with the included 18 inch USB 3.0 cable
- The available storage capacity may vary.
There is no universal compatibility guarantee for every identity provider, login system, or protected site. The project documentation explains known restrictions and the basic save workflow, but does not establish a compatibility matrix for authenticated pages.
What can make the saved archive incomplete
- Content had not loaded: Some sites render sections or resources after the initial page appears. Wait for the required material to load before capturing.
- Restricted page access: The browser may prevent the extension from running on the page at all.
- Site-specific behavior: Dynamic content, frames, or access-controlled resources may not be preserved completely. Inspect the result rather than assuming that everything on screen was archived.
Think of the output as an archive of the content the extension managed to process—not a copy of the site’s login system or a promise that every interactive feature will work offline.

Fix a capture that fails
If the extension does not save the page or produces an unexpected result, the SingleFile troubleshooting sequence is a practical way to isolate common causes:
- Try the capture in a private window.
- If that does not help, reset SingleFile’s options.
- Restart the browser and try again.
- Temporarily disable other extensions to check for conflicts.
- Open the resulting file and confirm whether the missing material was absent from the capture or simply failed to open locally.
SingleFileZ status and opening saved files
The SingleFileZ repository states, “SingleFileZ has been completely merged into SingleFile,” and directs users to SingleFile’s file-format options for self-extracting files. The Firefox Add-ons listing still describes SingleFileZ as an add-on for Firefox desktop and mobile, so a store listing may remain visible even though the repository points users to the merged project.

SingleFileZ’s saved format is a self-extracting ZIP/HTML hybrid. Opening such files locally has its own constraints: the FAQ says JavaScript must be enabled, and notes Chrome’s local-file restrictions. These are issues with opening the saved output, separate from whether the extension could process the signed-in tab.
Choose a file and storage workflow
If you need the self-extracting format, consult SingleFile’s current file-format options rather than assuming the older SingleFileZ listing reflects the current project guidance. If you need to keep archives remotely after capture, the project lists Google Drive, Dropbox, GitHub, and WebDAV as possible save destinations; choose a destination based on your own storage and access needs.

Or skip the browser setup
For a public page you want to capture through an API, ScreenshotNeo can return a screenshot or PDF with one GET request. Its documented cleanup can accept cookie or consent banners and remove known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. An MCP server also lets AI agents use screenshot tools. These features do not make a login-protected page accessible to an API request; use the signed-in browser workflow above for pages requiring your own session.
cURL example, using a public page URL:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for API options. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month, with no card.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does saving a signed-in page let me open it later as a signed-in user?
No. The saved file is an archive, not a preserved authenticated session; access-dependent features may not work offline.

Is SingleFileZ still a separate project?
Its repository says it has been completely merged into SingleFile and points users to SingleFile’s file-format options for self-extracting files.
