Microsoft announced a preview of a hallucination-correction capability in Azure AI Content Safety on September 24, 2024. It is a developer-facing feature for applications that use generative AI—not a standalone consumer app. Microsoft says it can detect ungrounded content and revise it against a grounding source, but that does not guarantee the revised answer is true or establish the feature’s current availability.

What Microsoft’s AI correction feature does

The capability builds on Azure AI Content Safety’s groundedness detection feature. Microsoft described it as identifying and correcting hallucinations in real time, before generated content reaches users of a generative AI application. In Microsoft Mechanics’ demonstration, correction is activated and ungrounded content is revised based on the grounding source.

In practical terms, a developer would use the capability as part of an application workflow: generated content is checked against material designated as its grounding source, and unsupported content may be revised before it is shown. Microsoft’s announcement describes the intended behavior; it is not independent evidence that every correction is accurate.

What “corrected” means—and what it does not

A grounding source gives the system material against which to assess an answer. Revising content to align with that material can help address claims that are unsupported by it. It does not, by itself, prove that the source is complete, up to date, or correct, or that the revised answer has been independently verified.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
  • Detection: The feature is described as identifying content that is not grounded in the supplied source.
  • Correction: Microsoft says it can revise that content based on the source, rather than only flagging it.
  • Verification: The announcement does not establish a guarantee of truth, a universal accuracy level, or performance across every application and type of source.

For a developer evaluating this kind of feature, the important questions are what counts as the grounding source, whether the system flags claims or rewrites them, what evidence or uncertainty users can see, and how corrections perform in the intended workflow. Microsoft’s announcement does not provide a comparative benchmark for ranking this capability against alternatives.

Is Microsoft’s correction feature available yet?

The documented release status is preview, as announced on September 24, 2024. The announcement does not establish whether it remains in preview or is now generally available. It also does not establish current product naming, API details, supported regions, or pricing. Developers considering it should confirm those details in Microsoft’s current product documentation before planning an integration.

Why correction should not replace user judgment

Even when an application checks and revises generated content, users and developers still need to calibrate how much they rely on its output. Microsoft Research’s Appropriate Reliance Research Initiative, published May 2, 2024, describes risks from both over-reliance—accepting incorrect AI output—and under-reliance—not using systems when they perform well. That is useful context for designing an application, but it is not evidence of this Azure feature’s performance.

Separately, Microsoft Research’s April 2026 publication “VeriTrail: Closed-Domain Hallucination Detection with Traceability” examines tracing unsupported content through multi-step generative workflows and linking faithful content back to source text. VeriTrail is related research, not evidence that it is the same product as Azure AI Content Safety’s correction capability.
