Not directly, according to Larix’s published documentation. Larix Broadcaster is documented for live mobile capture and streaming, not for selecting a prerecorded video in Google Drive as an encoder input. A possible workaround is to play the video on your phone or tablet and stream its screen with Larix Screencaster, but whether the Google Drive app’s audio can be captured depends on the device, operating system and app permissions.
What Larix Broadcaster can—and cannot—do with a Drive video
Softvelum describes Larix Broadcaster as mobile broadcasting software for iOS and Android. Its documented functions include capturing live video and audio, recording, publishing over RTMP(S), and using USB OTG video or audio sources. The product documentation reviewed does not describe opening a prerecorded Google Drive file and sending that file directly to YouTube Live.
That distinction matters: a video playing on your device is not automatically an encoder input. If you need to stream a file as a file, do not assume Broadcaster can browse Drive or use its playback as a direct source. The absence of that workflow from the published feature information is not a hands-on test of every app version or device.
Workaround: stream the device screen with Larix Screencaster
Softvelum documents screen capture and streaming in Larix Screencaster. You can try playing the Drive video on the mobile device and streaming the screen. Treat this as a conditional workaround rather than a guaranteed Drive-to-YouTube workflow: picture capture and sound capture can behave differently.

Check audio support before relying on the workaround
- Android: Softvelum’s guidance says Android 10 and later can capture audio from apps that support external recording. It does not establish that the Google Drive app will allow audio capture on your particular device.
- iOS: Softvelum describes operating-system restrictions and ReplayKit-dependent app audio. Drive playback audio may therefore not be available to Screencaster in every setup.
Test the specific device, OS version and Drive app you intend to use. Confirm that both the picture and sound reach YouTube in a private or unlisted test before attempting a public broadcast.
Set up YouTube as the streaming destination
- Enable live streaming: In YouTube Studio, enable live streaming for your channel. YouTube says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours, so do this in advance rather than immediately before the planned broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.
- Create or select a live stream: In YouTube Studio, create or open the stream you will use and retrieve its server (ingestion) URL and stream key.
- Enter the destination in Larix: Add a connection in the Larix encoder and provide the YouTube server URL and stream name/key. Larix’s setup reference describes configuring the destination by combining the URL and stream name/key in the connection settings: Larix documentation.
- Protect the stream key: Treat it like a password. Do not share it or display it on screen; if it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the Larix connection.
- Run a private or unlisted test: Start the screen capture, play a short section of the Drive video, and verify video, audio and the YouTube stream status before switching to a public broadcast.
Choose the route that matches your source
- Need Broadcaster to open the Drive file directly? That input workflow is not documented in the Larix Broadcaster materials reviewed.
- Can play the file on a mobile device and accept a test-dependent setup? Try Screencaster, then verify audio capture and picture delivery in a private or unlisted stream.
