Larix Broadcaster’s official materials describe retrying a lost network connection and streaming in the background, but do not say the app will relaunch itself and resume a YouTube broadcast after its process crashes. If Larix closes, expect to reopen it and start the stream again unless Softvelum confirms recovery for your exact device and app build.
Network reconnect is not crash recovery
A network interruption and an app crash happen at different layers. If Larix remains open while its publishing connection drops, its connection settings may let it attempt to reconnect. If the operating system terminates Larix or the app crashes, the process that would make that attempt is no longer running. A reconnect setting alone does not restart a killed app.
Softvelum’s Larix FAQ describes a reconnect timeout and related connection behavior. It says streams do not retry by default when the network occasionally goes offline; an option allows connection attempts regardless of network presence when starting or resuming. These settings concern Larix’s connection workflow, not a documented relaunch after a crash.
What Larix’s related features do—and do not—promise

Those distinctions matter for both platforms. The Larix overview lists Android 7.0+ and iOS 16.0+ compatibility, but minimum requirements do not prove identical crash behavior across newer devices, operating-system releases, or app builds. Check current compatibility information before relying on a particular setup.

What to do when a broadcast stops
- Determine what stopped. If Larix is still open, treat the issue first as a possible network or publishing-connection interruption. If Larix disappeared, restarted, or was closed by the operating system, treat it as a process crash or termination; do not expect its reconnect setting to reopen it.
- If Larix is still running, check its connection settings. Review the reconnect timeout and the related option governing connection attempts when the network is unavailable, as described in the Larix FAQ. Reconnect options can help with a lost connection while the app remains active; they are not proof of crash recovery.
- If the app crashed, reopen Larix and start the feed. Verify that the selected YouTube stream, server URL, and stream key are correct in the encoder configuration. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions tell users to configure the server URL and stream key in the encoder, then start the stream from that encoder.
- Verify the exact auto-start behavior before unattended use. A store listing’s reference to automated workflows is not a stated guarantee of crash recovery. Ask Softvelum about your precise phone, operating system, Larix build, and streaming mode, and test that combination before depending on it for a production broadcast.
On iOS, account for the documented background limitation: the Larix FAQ says the camera and encoder are inaccessible in background mode, with audio remaining available. Do not confuse that behavior with a guarantee that a video stream will resume after a crash.
Why YouTube does not restart the phone app
YouTube receives the feed sent by the encoder. Its encoder instructions explain how to configure the server URL and stream key and start sending from the encoder; they do not describe restarting Larix on a phone after a crash. A scheduled or existing YouTube stream therefore should not be treated as a mechanism that relaunches the app or restores its outgoing feed.
