A plan’s advertised speed is not enough to tell: measure upload performance where the encoder will run, account for other household traffic, and test the actual stream. Even with a sound connection, YouTube warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive.
What determines whether JioFiber can keep the stream running?
The key number is sustained upload capacity, not download speed. YouTube says the total outgoing bitrate must fit within available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving about 20% headroom. Other people and devices using the same connection can reduce what remains for the encoder. A speed test is only a snapshot, not a 24-hour uptime guarantee.
Jio says its unlimited home plans allow unlimited high-speed data, but its FAQ also reserves the right to discontinue data services for misuse, fraudulent, unauthorized, or commercial use. Jio’s 2025 consumer charter says plan speeds are guaranteed up to the ISP node and that contention ratios apply. Those general terms do not establish your local upload speed or confirm that a particular commercial stream is authorized. How much upload speed do you need?
Start with the encoder’s total outgoing bitrate, then allow YouTube’s recommended 20% margin. The following H.264 figures are YouTube’s recommended encoder bitrates; the upload figures apply the 20% headroom mathematically and are planning estimates, not guarantees. They do not include other household traffic.

For example, a 1080p30 H.264 stream at YouTube’s recommended 5 Mbps calls for about 6 Mbps of available upload capacity before accounting for other users. If the connection’s upload rate fluctuates near that figure, lower the encoder bitrate or reduce household use during the broadcast. Higher resolution or frame rate generally calls for a higher recommended bitrate. Consult YouTube’s encoder settings for the intended output and codec, and YouTube’s streaming tips for bandwidth guidance.
How to test JioFiber before committing to a 24/7 stream
- Set the intended output. Choose resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate using YouTube’s encoder guidance. YouTube’s current guidance lists H.264, H.265, and AV1 ingestion, CBR bitrate encoding, and a recommended two-second keyframe frequency, no longer than four seconds. Use RTMPS if your encoder supports it.
- Measure upload at the encoder’s location. Prefer a wired connection. Run repeated upload tests at the time of day the stream will usually run, then compare the results with the outgoing bitrate plus 20% headroom.
- Include household use in the test. Repeat while the devices and users typically active at home are online. If shared use consumes the margin, reduce the stream bitrate, limit other traffic, or choose a lower output setting.
- Run a private or unlisted test broadcast. Use content with audio and movement similar to the real playlist. Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health, and monitor a sufficiently long test rather than relying on a single speed-test result.
- Check service terms and rights. Confirm the exact JioFiber plan terms, particularly if the broadcast is commercial. Make sure you hold the necessary rights for the video and music both live and in any archive.
- Plan for the replay separately. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Keep a local recording if the full replay matters; if replay continuity is important, plan how to divide the broadcast into shorter streams.
YouTube advises testing the encoder, checking the preview and stream health, and monitoring quality. Its archive guidance explains the duration limit: encoder settings, streaming tips, and archive live streams.

What else can interrupt a full-day broadcast?
- Upload variation or contention: A result that passes during a quiet moment may not hold when household demand rises. Use repeated tests and preserve the recommended margin.
- Connection, power, or encoder failure: A 24/7 broadcast depends on more than bitrate. An internet outage, router power loss, or encoder shutdown can interrupt it. Monitor the stream and have a way to restart it; a speed test cannot guarantee continuity.
- Jio terms and local conditions: The public terms do not state your address-specific upload throughput, outage history, or approval for your particular commercial use. Confirm those details with Jio rather than treating a plan’s advertised speed as a service guarantee.
- Archive limits: A live stream can work while its complete replay is not captured. YouTube’s warning for streams exceeding 12 hours makes local recording and broadcast segmentation important when the archive matters.
- Channel eligibility and content rights: YouTube requires an eligible, verified channel for live streaming and requires creators to follow its live-stream rules. You need the necessary rights for live and archived content, including music where applicable. Repetitive or mass-produced material may be ineligible for monetization under YouTube’s inauthentic-content policy; that does not mean every prerecorded livestream is prohibited.
