Yes, an Indian gaming channel can use YouTube’s encoder workflow to send gameplay, but prerecorded footage does not bypass YouTube’s live-stream eligibility or content-rights rules. As of October 2026, YouTube says creators must be at least 16, verify their channel, and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. The separate mobile-app route requires at least 50 subscribers. YouTube’s published guidance supports encoder streaming for gameplay, but does not expressly settle whether every prerecorded loop or unattended feed is permitted.
What eligibility rules apply to Indian gaming channels?
YouTube’s baseline requirements apply to the creator and channel, whether the stream shows live gameplay or video recorded earlier:
- The creator must be at least 16 years old. YouTube’s live-streaming getting-started guidance states this minimum.
- The channel must be verified.
- The channel must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days.
These are eligibility conditions, not a guarantee that a particular stream will remain available or comply with YouTube’s policies. India is listed among the countries where mobile game live streaming is supported; that availability does not waive the account requirements.
Does prerecorded gameplay qualify?
YouTube documents encoder streaming as a way to send gameplay and overlays. Its reviewed official guidance does not describe a separate eligibility category or exemption for prerecorded video. In practice, eligibility is tied to the creator and channel, not to whether the images were captured live or earlier. However, that does not establish a blanket approval for every loop, continuous feed, or unattended stream.

If you plan to play a recording as a live broadcast, treat the encoder path as the relevant technical workflow, and check YouTube’s current policies for the specific format you intend to use. Do not assume that successful activation means the content format is permitted.
Computer encoder or mobile app: which route fits?
| Route | Subscriber requirement | What it is suited to | Other requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| Computer encoder | No subscriber minimum is stated in the cited general and encoder guidance. | Sending gameplay and overlays through an encoder; this is the relevant documented workflow for computer-based gameplay. | Baseline age, channel verification, and recent-restriction requirements still apply. |
| YouTube mobile app | At least 50 subscribers. | Starting a stream from a phone, including mobile game streaming where supported. | Channel verification, no live restriction in the prior 90 days, and live-stream activation are required. First activation may take up to 24 hours. |
The 50-subscriber minimum is specified for mobile streaming; do not apply it automatically to the computer encoder route. YouTube’s mobile requirements and activation timing are described in its mobile live-streaming help page. India appears in its live-streaming tips and supported-country information.

How to check eligibility and prepare a stream
- Confirm the creator meets the age requirement. YouTube’s published general minimum is 16. The cited guidance does not resolve a different age threshold for mobile creators aged 13–17, so do not infer one.
- Verify the channel. Complete YouTube’s channel-verification process before attempting to go live.
- Check for live-stream restrictions. A restriction in the previous 90 days can prevent access. Review account notifications or YouTube Studio for channel status and any policy action.
- Choose the broadcast route. For a computer-based gaming stream or gameplay with overlays, use an encoder workflow. For a phone-based stream, check the 50-subscriber minimum and mobile activation requirements.
- Allow for first-time activation on mobile. YouTube says enabling live streaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours; plan ahead rather than waiting until the moment you intend to stream.
- Review the footage and audio rights. Confirm that you have the necessary rights to game visuals, music, third-party audio, and any clips included in the recording.
Check rights separately from eligibility
Being allowed to start a stream does not clear its contents. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility for necessary rights on the provider. Copyright matches or policy issues may lead to restrictions on a stream or on live access; see YouTube’s guidance on avoiding live-stream restrictions.
Monetization is a separate question again. YouTube says game-content monetization depends on rights granted by the game publisher, and simply showing gameplay for an extended period may not qualify. Live-stream eligibility does not promise monetization or establish that a publisher has cleared your footage for commercial use. See YouTube’s video game and software content guidance.

Troubleshooting common eligibility problems
- The live option is unavailable: Check that the channel is verified and has no live-stream restriction in the last 90 days. If you are using a phone, also confirm that the channel meets the 50-subscriber minimum and that live streaming has been activated.
- Mobile streaming does not start immediately: First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. Activate the feature before your planned stream.
- A prerecorded stream is flagged or restricted: Eligibility does not guarantee that footage, audio, or the chosen format complies with policy. Check rights for every element and review YouTube’s notices for the specific restriction.
- You want to earn from gameplay: Check the game publisher’s permissions and YouTube’s monetization guidance. A channel’s ability to go live is not evidence that gameplay is monetizable.
