Yes. Apple AirPods pair with Samsung Galaxy phones through the phone’s normal Android Bluetooth settings. You can use them for music, video, and calls, including the AirPods microphone. The trade-off is that Apple-only conveniences are reduced: Siri is unavailable on a non-Apple device, and Google cautions that some device functions may not be supported on Android.
What you need before pairing
Any recent Samsung Galaxy phone with working Bluetooth can attempt the connection. Keep the AirPods in their charging case, make sure the case has charge, and place the phone close to the case while pairing. The phone does not need an Apple account or an Apple companion app for the basic Bluetooth connection.
- A charged AirPods case and earbuds inside it.
- Bluetooth enabled on the Galaxy phone.
- The Galaxy’s Bluetooth device list open so it can discover the earbuds.
Apple describes AirPods used this way as a Bluetooth headset with a non-Apple device. That description covers the core functions rather than the complete Apple-device feature set.
How to pair AirPods with a Samsung Galaxy
- Put both AirPods in the charging case and charge the case if its battery is low.
- On the Galaxy phone, open Settings, go to Connections, then open Bluetooth. Turn Bluetooth on.
- Tap Pair new device (or the equivalent option that scans for nearby devices).
- Leave the AirPods inside the open case. Use the pairing control for your model:
- AirPods (1st, 2nd, or 3rd generation) and AirPods Pro (1st or 2nd generation): press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about five seconds, until the status light flashes white.
- AirPods 4, AirPods 5, and AirPods Pro 3: use the front-of-case double-tap pairing procedure described in Apple’s guide, then wait for the status light to flash white.
- AirPods Max: press and hold the listening-mode button until the status light flashes white, following Apple’s pairing procedure for that model.
- Look under the Galaxy’s available Bluetooth devices and tap the AirPods name when it appears.
- Accept the pairing prompt if the phone displays one. The AirPods should then appear as a connected audio device.
The exact name shown in the list can include the owner’s custom AirPods name. If several Bluetooth devices are nearby, check that you select the intended AirPods before confirming.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If the AirPods do not appear
Apple’s pairing guidance identifies a short set of checks that resolves the most common discovery failures:
- Confirm that the charging case has power.
- Keep both earbuds in the case while you start pairing.
- Leave the lid open while the case is in pairing mode.
- On the Galaxy, stay in the Available devices list and refresh the scan.
- Repeat the model-specific pairing action until the status light is flashing white.
If the earbuds still do not show, stop and repeat the sequence from the beginning rather than tapping a previously saved entry. The phone can only discover the AirPods while the case or headphones are actively advertising for pairing.
What works after the connection
Music, video, and other audio
Once connected, AirPods receive Bluetooth audio from the Galaxy phone. Music and video playback are the fundamental use case, and the phone treats the earbuds as an ordinary Bluetooth audio output.

Phone calls and the microphone
AirPods can be used to listen and talk on a call. Their microphone is available for call audio, subject to the phone and app selecting the AirPods as the active Bluetooth headset.
Controls and automatic behavior
The connection does not turn AirPods into a fully integrated Samsung accessory. Functions that depend on Apple’s operating systems, Apple account services, or Apple-specific software should be considered unavailable unless documentation for the exact AirPods model and Galaxy software says otherwise.
What is limited on Android
Siri is not available
Apple’s explicit limitation is straightforward: “You can’t use Siri, but you can listen and talk.” A Galaxy phone therefore cannot use the AirPods Siri experience as an Apple device does. Use the Galaxy’s own voice-assistant controls separately if you need voice commands.

Some features may not be supported
Google’s Android Help warns that “Some functionalities of these devices may not be supported on your Android device.” That is intentionally broader than a fixed feature list: behavior can differ by AirPods generation, Galaxy model, Android or One UI version, and the app handling the audio.
For that reason, do not assume that every Apple-device convenience will transfer. Treat ecosystem-dependent features as unavailable until the documentation for your specific AirPods and Galaxy combination confirms them. Core Bluetooth playback and calling are the dependable baseline.
AirPods versus Samsung Galaxy Buds on a Galaxy phone
Both product families can make a basic Bluetooth audio connection. The practical difference is how much platform integration you want after pairing.

| Decision point | AirPods with a Galaxy phone | Samsung Galaxy Buds with a Galaxy phone |
|---|---|---|
| Basic compatibility | Connect through the Galaxy’s standard Bluetooth controls and work as Bluetooth headphones. | Can also be used as Bluetooth headphones. |
| Ecosystem features | Designed around Apple-device features; Siri is unavailable on Android and other functions may not transfer. | Galaxy phones can offer a more integrated setup and feature path when Galaxy Wearable support is available. |
| Setup friction | Requires manual pairing in the Galaxy Bluetooth menu and the AirPods case pairing control. | Bluetooth pairing remains available; supported Galaxy phones may expose additional Samsung-specific controls through Galaxy Wearable. |
| Model-specific behavior | Pairing controls differ among AirPods generations, and Android support can vary by model and software. | Features depend on the particular Galaxy Buds model, phone, app support, and software version. |
| Audio performance figures | No authoritative comparative battery-life, latency, codec, or call-quality figure is established here for AirPods on Galaxy phones. | No authoritative comparative battery-life, latency, codec, or call-quality figure is established here for Galaxy Buds in the same conditions. |
Samsung says its earbuds can be used “just like other Bluetooth headphones” with devices that do not support the Galaxy Wearable app. On a compatible Galaxy phone, however, the Wearable app can provide the more unified Samsung setup that AirPods do not offer on Android.
Check the Galaxy Bluetooth audio switches
If a paired set of earbuds connects but produces no sound, open the AirPods entry in the Galaxy’s Bluetooth settings and check the available audio switches. Samsung specifically warns that disabling either Call audio or Media audio prevents the corresponding output and can cause the earbuds to disconnect.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Leave Media audio enabled for music, video, and other playback.
- Leave Call audio enabled if you want to use the AirPods for phone conversations.
- If both are disabled, re-enable the switch needed for your use before testing again.
These settings explain a common situation in which the Galaxy remembers the AirPods but routes sound through its own speaker or treats the earbuds as disconnected.

Which setup makes sense for you?
Choose AirPods with Galaxy when
- You already own AirPods and want basic wireless listening and calling without replacing them.
- You are comfortable pairing manually through Bluetooth.
- You do not require Siri or Apple-only integration on the phone.
Choose Galaxy Buds when
- You want the accessory and phone to follow Samsung’s ecosystem and setup path.
- You value the possibility of Galaxy Wearable controls on your specific phone and Buds model.
- You prefer an accessory designed for the Galaxy software environment rather than a cross-platform Bluetooth connection.
Neither choice can be judged by the brand name alone. Confirm the exact earbud generation, Galaxy model, and software version when a feature matters, because compatibility is not identical across every combination.
Limits of available performance comparisons
There is no authoritative comparative number here for battery life, wireless latency, supported codecs, or call quality when AirPods and Galaxy Buds are used with Galaxy phones. Those measurements vary with the specific model, firmware, phone, codec negotiation, signal conditions, and test method. A single battery or latency number would therefore be misleading without a model-specific test and stated conditions.
Quick Recap
Practical takeaways
- AirPods do connect to Samsung Galaxy phones through standard Bluetooth.
- For AirPods 1/2/3 and AirPods Pro 1/2, hold the case’s rear setup button for about five seconds until the light flashes white; newer models use the model-specific front or listening-mode control described above.
- Music playback and microphone-enabled calls are supported as Bluetooth headset functions.
- Siri is unavailable on a non-Apple device, and other functions can vary by model and Android software.
- For Galaxy Buds, the Galaxy Wearable path may provide deeper Samsung integration, while both families still support basic Bluetooth headphone use.
- If audio is missing, verify the Galaxy Bluetooth entry’s Media audio and Call audio switches.
