Usually, yes for Content ID: YouTube says copyright-safe music and sound effects downloaded from its Audio Library “won’t be claimed by a rights holder through the Content ID system.” That is not a guarantee that a 24/7 livestream will never be interrupted, that its archive will never face a claim, or that every track is cleared for every use worldwide. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches and may interrupt or terminate one if detected material remains.

What YouTube’s no-claim statement does—and does not—mean

YouTube’s Audio Library guidance says its copyright-safe music and sound effects will not be claimed by a rights holder through Content ID. This assurance is specifically about downloads from YouTube’s own library and YouTube’s Content ID system; it should not be generalized to music labeled “royalty-free” elsewhere. See YouTube’s Audio Library guidance.

A Content ID claim and a live interruption are different outcomes. YouTube says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content. If detected material remains in a stream, YouTube may replace the broadcast with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. An archived live stream is checked separately: YouTube says Content ID claims on archived streams are made after the live stream is complete. See YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.

Situation What YouTube says Practical implication
Audio Library download used in a video or stream Copyright-safe Library downloads will not be claimed by a rights holder through Content ID. This is strong platform-specific support against an ordinary Content ID claim, not a promise against all interruptions or other enforcement.
Live broadcast in progress Live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content; detected material that remains can lead to replacement, interruption, or termination. A live stream can still be affected by other content in the broadcast or by a match that needs review.
Completed stream saved as an archive Claims on archived live streams occur after the stream is complete. Check the finished archive in YouTube Studio as a separate step.

Does the Library license expressly cover continuous worldwide live use?

YouTube describes Audio Library tracks as production music to use in videos and gives the Content ID assurance above. Its Audio Library guidance does not expressly set out, track by track, whether the license authorizes continuous 24/7 live broadcasting worldwide. Separately, YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions put responsibility on the provider to hold the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation of the live content, including music rights.

So, the careful answer is that YouTube gives a clear Content ID assurance for its copyright-safe Library downloads, but its guidance does not provide a blanket statement resolving every legal or licensing question about continuous worldwide live use. YouTube also says it does not provide legal guidance. If you plan to use the music outside YouTube, confirm the applicable license independently.

Choose the right track and preserve its attribution details

  1. Download from YouTube Studio. Use the track downloaded from the Audio Library in Studio, rather than a copy found on another site. YouTube’s Audio Library page explains how to access and download its music and sound effects.
  2. Check the track’s attribution setting. Some tracks use a Creative Commons license and require attribution. Copy the generated attribution text into your video description. If you want tracks without that requirement, use the Library filter for “Attribution not required.”
  3. Keep a record of the track information and required credit. That makes it easier to verify what you used and update the description if you publish or archive the stream.
  4. Review the archive after the broadcast. If YouTube saves the stream as a video, check it in Studio for a claim or restriction once processing is complete.

Audio Library versus other music sources

YouTube says only music and sound effects from its Audio Library are known to it to be copyright-safe. A third-party source calling a track “free” or “royalty-free” does not by itself prevent a Content ID flag. YouTube’s guidance on finding safe music and copyright claims can help explain the distinction. For music from another provider, read its license and confirm that it covers your intended livestream use; the Audio Library’s platform-specific assurance does not extend to outside catalogs.

Do not assume Creator Music solves this for a live broadcast. YouTube says Creator Music licensing does not support live content and excludes livestreams from the covered usage. Check the current Creator Music FAQ and usage details.

If a stream is interrupted or its archive receives a claim

  • Review the live-stream dashboard and the detected material. Confirm whether the match involved the Library track or another audio or video source in the broadcast. The Library assurance does not make an entire mixed stream immune from matches.
  • Check the exact Library track and attribution status. Make sure you used a Library download and supplied required Creative Commons credit in the description.
  • Inspect the completed archive separately. Because YouTube says archived-stream claims occur after the live stream ends, check the processed video in Studio rather than assuming the live broadcast’s status settles the archive’s status.
  • Use YouTube’s claim details to decide what to do next. A claim is not the same thing as proof that the Library track was unauthorized; review the claimant, matched segment, and restriction shown in Studio before taking action.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your 24/7 stream is a playlist of uploaded videos, StreamNeo keeps a YouTube channel live from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and it does not change the music-rights requirements described above.
