If Call of Duty: Warzone will not launch, crashes, freezes, or runs poorly on Windows 11, work through the checks below in order. Start with Activision’s current issue list, then check Windows, the graphics driver, shaders, and the repair option for your launcher. These steps can resolve common causes, but no single fix is guaranteed for every PC.
Check whether Activision is tracking the problem
Before changing your PC, check Activision’s Warzone known-issues list. It was checked September 25, 2026, and may change. If your symptom is listed, follow the status or guidance there rather than repeating local troubleshooting. If it is not listed, Activision provides a Warzone Bug Report form for unlisted issues.
Confirm Windows is supported and current
Activision supports Windows 10 and Windows 11 for Warzone, recommends keeping Windows current, and does not support Windows 7 or 8. Install available updates for your supported Windows version, restart, and test the game again. Activision’s PC troubleshooting guide says the latest Windows 11 version greatly improves NVIDIA stability, but does not identify a particular Windows build in that guidance.
Match the graphics driver to your GPU
If the issue involves graphics, instability, or crashes, identify your exact GPU model and whether it is a desktop, notebook, or workstation configuration. Activision’s troubleshooting guide, dated March 11, 2026, lists these driver versions; driver releases can change, so check the GPU maker’s current package for your specific hardware before installing:

Activision says NVIDIA Maxwell and Pascal cards have ended Game Ready support and lists 581.80 as the last recommended driver for those architectures. Do not assume a version listed for one GPU type or architecture is appropriate for another.
Let shader preloading finish
After a game update or first launch, wait at the Main Menu until shader preloading finishes before playing. Activision Support calls shader preloading “an important part of the first boot process.” Leaving the Main Menu interrupts preloading and can cause performance problems, so do not treat a slow initial load as a reason to repeatedly relaunch the game.

Repair the game through its launcher
Choose the repair method for the launcher where Warzone is installed:
Battle.net
- Open Battle.net and select Call of Duty.
- Open the options menu and choose Scan and Repair.
- Let the scan complete, then launch the game and test again.
Steam
- Open your Steam Library and right-click Call of Duty.
- Choose Properties, then Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files and allow verification to finish before launching.
Activision recommends these launcher-specific checks and advises disabling programs that may interfere with Steam while diagnosing the issue.

Xbox app on PC: only for the listed 0x error
For the specific Xbox-on-PC 0x error listed by Activision, open Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Call of Duty → Advanced options, select Terminate, then select Repair. Activision says to reinstall if that error persists. This path is for that reported error, not a general repair method for every Xbox app problem.
Isolate software conflicts without disabling protection broadly
Overlay, monitoring, tuning, and background utilities can interfere with startup or gameplay. Activision specifically names NZXT CAM, MSI Afterburner, and Razer Cortex as possible conflicts. Close likely candidates and test one at a time where practical; if you need to narrow down a broader background conflict, Activision also suggests a clean boot with only essential programs running. If you use Razer Synapse, its guide recommends updating the driver.

If Warzone will not start and you previously disabled ASLR in Windows, re-enable it and try again. For antivirus interference, Activision recommends adding the entire Warzone folder to the antivirus exception list. Treat that as a targeted diagnostic change—not a reason to turn off antivirus protection globally—and remove or reassess the exception if it does not help.

Activision says TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are required to play Warzone, and that Windows 11 systems likely already have both enabled. If the game gives a related compliance notice, use Activision’s Secure Attestation Wizard and guidance to check the requirements. You can also run tpm.msc in Windows to view TPM status.

Do not change firmware settings simply because the game has another kind of problem. BIOS/UEFI menus differ by manufacturer, and Activision warns that incorrect changes can cause system issues, including boot failures. If a setting needs attention, follow your motherboard maker’s instructions or seek qualified support before changing it.
Report crashes or issues that remain unresolved
If the game still crashes after the relevant checks, submit Activision’s Call of Duty PC Crash Report. For a problem that is not on the known-issues list, use the Warzone Bug Report form. Include useful diagnostic context such as the exact error, launcher, GPU model and driver version, Windows version, and steps already tried; these details can help describe the problem, though Activision does not identify them here as required fields.
