A 25-year-old British-Iranian man arrested in Westminster in connection with an alleged plot linked to RAF Fairford has been released on bail, ITV reported on 3 October 2026. Police searches of two Westminster properties have concluded, but the investigation is ongoing.
What is the latest on the Westminster arrest?
ITV reported that the man was arrested on Thursday, 1 October, on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts under section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006. He was released on bail by 3 October, and police had finished searching two properties in Westminster. How does this arrest relate to the RAF Fairford investigation?

Al Jazeera reported that police found a quantity of petrol, but no weapons or explosives, in vans searched in connection with the incident. That account does not establish what anyone intended to do, or prove that an attack or completed plot occurred.
Is there public evidence of Iranian state involvement?
The reports describe possible foreign-state involvement as an avenue of investigation, not an established finding. ITV quoted Vicki Evans, Counter Terrorism Policing’s national coordinator, saying: “As we’ve made clear, we’re looking at all possible angles – including possible foreign state involvement.”
