BoxCast documents scheduled Simulated Live rebroadcasts, including recurring events, but its reviewed instructions do not establish an infinite loop. That distinction matters: a recurring broadcast schedule is not necessarily one uninterrupted 24/7 stream.
There is an important plan caveat before choosing Castr: its help guide describes Loop mode as available on all plans, while its product page says infinite loop is available on Premium and higher. Confirm the current plan and limits directly before subscribing.
Which service fits a continuous YouTube loop?
For a continuous prerecorded YouTube live stream, Castr is the stronger match based on the vendors’ published workflows. Its prerecorded-streaming guide describes uploading one or more videos, choosing Loop mode, adding destinations such as YouTube, and starting the stream. Castr’s scheduling guide says Infinite Loop sends the video to added platforms continuously, 24/7. Castr’s setup guide and scheduling modes guide document those steps.
BoxCast is a documented option for scheduled or recurring simulated-live rebroadcasts, particularly if you already use BoxCast. Its Simulated Live guide says you can upload a video or rebroadcast a past broadcast, schedule future events, send them to YouTube, and recur with the same content. It does not describe an infinite-loop mode. See BoxCast’s Simulated Live guide.

BoxCast vs. Castr: what the documented workflows establish
| Question | Castr | BoxCast |
|---|---|---|
| Continuous prerecorded loop to YouTube | Explicitly documents Loop / Infinite Loop for continuous 24/7 delivery to added platforms. Plan availability is inconsistent across Castr’s help and product pages. | Not established by the reviewed Simulated Live instructions; they describe scheduled rebroadcasts and recurrence. |
| Scheduled or recurring broadcasts | Date & Time scheduling is documented as an alternative to Infinite Loop; multiple uploaded videos can be reordered. | Simulated Live can be scheduled for future events and can recur with the same content; it is not available on all plans. |
| YouTube connection | YouTube can be added by API connection or by manually entering a YouTube streaming server and key, according to the YouTube connection guide. | Link a YouTube account, then select YouTube as a destination when scheduling a broadcast. The integration guide says live streaming must be enabled on the YouTube account and activation can take 24 hours after setup. |
| Documented source format and preparation | The prerecorded guide currently supports MP4. Castr recommends 1920×1080, 30 fps, 4,000 Kbps, a two-second keyframe interval, and 10–20 seconds of extra footage at each end; these are Castr’s preparation recommendations, not independently verified requirements. | The reviewed Simulated Live guide does not specify upload encoding requirements. BoxCast’s separate pre-roll article recommends MP4, 720p, variable bitrate targeting 1–5 Mbps, H.264 High Profile progressive video, and AAC at 44.1 or 48 kHz—but those are for an embedded-player pre-roll, not established Simulated Live upload requirements. |
| File, playlist, and concurrency limits | File size and number of files depend on subscription. The reviewed pages do not establish a complete current set of file-duration, storage, playlist, or concurrent-stream limits. | Not stated in the reviewed Simulated Live material. |
| Plan eligibility | Conflicting documentation: the help guide says prerecorded streaming is on all plans and describes Loop mode; the product page says infinite loop is Premium and higher. | Simulated Live is not available on all plans; check the plan you intend to use. |
| YouTube event details and embedded-player requirement | The reviewed instructions do not establish complete controls for title, thumbnail, privacy, event creation, or whether a provider player is required. | BoxCast says its thumbnails do not carry over to social destinations, so add the thumbnail separately to the YouTube event. The reviewed instructions do not establish every event control or whether a provider player is required. |
What Castr’s prerecorded workflow looks like
- Add source video: In Castr’s prerecorded streaming workflow, upload from your computer or cloud storage, or select recordings from Castr’s hosting library. The guide currently identifies MP4 as the supported format.
- Build the sequence: Add more than one video if needed and reorder the files. Castr says file count and file size depend on the subscription.
- Choose the schedule: Select Loop for continuous delivery, or Date & Time for a scheduled start. The scheduling guide describes Infinite Loop as continuous 24/7 delivery to added platforms.
- Add YouTube: Connect YouTube through the API option or enter the YouTube streaming server and stream key manually, as described in Castr’s YouTube connection instructions.
- Start and verify the broadcast: Start the stream in Castr, then check the YouTube event and live output. The cited guides establish the setup path but do not specify every current YouTube event setting.
Prepare the video using Castr’s recommendations
Castr’s recorded-video settings guide recommends MP4, 1920×1080, 30 frames per second, 4,000 Kbps, and a two-second keyframe interval. It also advises adding 10–20 seconds at the beginning and end. Treat these as Castr’s file-preparation advice, not universal YouTube requirements. If your source file differs, confirm what Castr accepts for your plan before uploading.

When BoxCast is the better fit
BoxCast may fit better when you need an event-based simulated-live broadcast or already use its broadcast workflow. The documented feature can use an uploaded video or a previous broadcast, schedule a future event, send it to YouTube, and recur with the same content. Confirm that Simulated Live is included in your specific plan before building around it.
For YouTube delivery, BoxCast’s integration instructions say to link the YouTube account and select YouTube as a destination while scheduling. YouTube live streaming must already be enabled; BoxCast says activation after setup can take 24 hours. BoxCast also notes that thumbnails do not carry over to social destinations, so add the thumbnail separately to the YouTube event.

Do not confuse BoxCast pre-roll with a YouTube live loop
BoxCast separately supports a looping pre-roll video in its embedded player while that player is offline or before an event. That is not evidence of a continuous prerecorded live stream to YouTube. Its pre-roll article’s encoding recommendations apply to that embedded-player feature, not necessarily to Simulated Live.
Before you commit: verify plan and platform details
- For Castr: Ask whether Infinite Loop is available on the exact plan you are considering. The help-center workflow and product page conflict on this point. Also confirm current storage, maximum file size and duration, playlist/file count, and concurrent-stream limits.
- For BoxCast: Confirm Simulated Live availability on your plan and whether the scheduled recurrence pattern matches your intended cadence. Recurrence is documented; uninterrupted infinite looping is not established by the reviewed instructions.
- For either service: Confirm how YouTube events are created and managed, including title, thumbnail, privacy, and any event scheduling details that matter to your channel. Check that your YouTube account is eligible and enabled for live streaming before relying on a launch date.
- For the content: Make sure you have the rights to stream every video and audio track. A continuous format does not remove copyright obligations or guarantee that YouTube will allow a particular upload or channel use.
Cost and alternative for a hands-off 24/7 stream
The reviewed BoxCast and Castr materials do not provide enough current, comparable pricing information to make a fair price-to-price table. Compare the actual tier, loop eligibility, storage, file limits, and stream limits for your use case rather than assuming the lowest advertised plan includes continuous looping.
