Short answer: Biz.nf is the better choice when your priority is the lowest possible cost, a free starting point, or a small shared-hosting site. Liquid Web is the stronger fit when you need managed VPS infrastructure, allocated resources, operational support, and a published 99.999% uptime guarantee. The price gap is real, but so is the difference in hosting model: Biz.nf starts with free and low-cost shared plans, while Liquid Web is built around managed servers and growth-oriented workloads.
Neither provider is universally best. A brochure-level “unlimited” shared plan can be perfectly adequate for a personal site yet unsuitable for a busy store. Conversely, paying for a managed VPS before you need one adds cost and complexity to a simple project. Use the workload, not the headline price, to make the decision.
Biz.nf and Liquid Web at a glance
The two companies overlap only at the broadest level: both sell web hosting, but their entry products target different buyers. Biz.nf emphasizes free and inexpensive shared hosting, with VPS options for customers who outgrow shared resources. Liquid Web emphasizes managed infrastructure and a broader range of VPS, dedicated, WordPress, WooCommerce, email, and reseller products.
| Factor | Biz.nf | Liquid Web |
|---|---|---|
| Lowest advertised entry | Free plan; paid Personal plan at $4.95/month promotional ($6.95 regular) and Business at $6.95 promotional ($10.95 regular), shown as annual-prepayment equivalents | Managed VPS from $14.75/month promotional; self-managed VPS promotion from $8.50/month |
| Entry model | Free/shared hosting, with VPS tiers also available | Managed VPS and other managed or dedicated products |
| Free plan allowance | 1,000 MB web space, 5,000 MB monthly transfer, one domain, PHP/MySQL and FTP, no forced ads | No free plan stated |
| Paid shared-plan resources | Unlimited web space and data transfer are listed; CPU and RAM are not allocated in the plan description | Not applicable to the managed VPS comparison |
| Managed VPS starting specification | Not stated for the VPS tiers in the supplied plan details | 2 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 40 GB SSD and 10 TB bandwidth at the $14.75/month starting tier |
| Reliability commitment | 99.9% uptime guarantee | 99.999% uptime guarantee advertised by the provider |
| Control model | Shared hosting plans abstract server resources; VPS page lists Webmin, root access and XEN virtualization | Managed VPS reduces routine server administration; exact control depends on the product selected |
| Best initial fit | Personal sites, small informational sites and budget-conscious projects | Ecommerce, agencies, applications and teams that value managed operations and predictable capacity |
The guarantees and specifications above are provider-published terms, not an independent speed or uptime test. No directly comparable September 2026 dataset establishes that one company is faster in real-world use.

What Biz.nf actually offers
Free hosting for a small first site
Biz.nf’s free plan is the lowest-cost way into this comparison. It includes 1,000 MB of web space, 5,000 MB of monthly data transfer, one domain, PHP/MySQL support and FTP access. The plan is advertised without forced ads, which matters if you want a clean personal site rather than a page carrying the host’s advertising.
Those limits are easy to understand: 1,000 MB is the storage ceiling and 5,000 MB is the monthly transfer allowance. A mostly text-based site with compressed images can fit comfortably; a photo-heavy site, file-download archive or rapidly growing application can consume either allowance. Transfer is a monthly budget, so a traffic spike can matter even when the files themselves fit within storage.
Paid Personal and Business plans
Biz.nf lists a Personal plan at a promotional $4.95 per month and a regular $6.95 per month, plus a Business plan at a promotional $6.95 and a regular $10.95. The page describes these figures as monthly equivalents when you prepay annually. They are therefore not the same as a month-to-month price, and the regular figure is the one to use when estimating the cost after the introductory period.
| Biz.nf plan | Promotional monthly equivalent | Regular monthly equivalent | Illustrative 12-month cost at that rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal | $4.95, with annual prepayment | $6.95 | $59.40 promotional; $83.40 at the regular rate |
| Business | $6.95, with annual prepayment | $10.95 | $83.40 promotional; $131.40 at the regular rate |
The arithmetic in the last column simply multiplies the displayed monthly equivalent by 12. Your invoice can differ if taxes, add-ons, a different term or a changed promotion applies, so confirm the checkout total and renewal terms before paying.
Both paid plans list unlimited web space and data transfer, free domain registration, weekly backups, site builders, one-click installers, 24/7 support and a 99.9% uptime guarantee. “Unlimited” describes the plan’s marketing allowance; it does not mean unlimited CPU, RAM, database workload or permission to run any process without practical limits. Shared hosts still have fair-use, performance and application policies, and a site that consumes disproportionate resources may need a VPS or another plan.
Biz.nf VPS options
Biz.nf’s VPS page lists three monthly tiers at $12.95, $22.95 and $42.95. The listed platform features include Webmin, root access, XEN virtualization and monitoring. Root access changes the job from managing a website account to managing a server: you can install and configure software, but you also become responsible for updates, security settings, service failures and backups unless the selected service explicitly covers them.

The supplied plan details do not state the CPU, RAM, storage or bandwidth allocation for each Biz.nf VPS tier. Do not infer that the $12.95, $22.95 and $42.95 prices represent equivalent capacity to Liquid Web’s published configurations. Ask for the exact allocation, operating-system choices, backup policy, support scope and renewal price if you are comparing VPS products rather than shared plans.

Managed VPS as the entry point
Liquid Web’s published managed VPS pricing starts at $14.75 per month for a configuration with 2 vCPU, 2 GB of RAM, 40 GB of SSD storage and 10 TB of bandwidth. The next listed managed tiers are $24.75 and $34.75 per month; the supplied pricing details do not specify the CPU, memory, storage or bandwidth for those higher tiers.
The same pricing page shows promotional self-managed VPS pricing from $8.50 per month. A self-managed server can be cheaper than managed service, but the saving shifts operational work to you. Compare support boundaries, patching responsibilities, control-panel licensing, backup options and the regular renewal price before treating the self-managed figure as a like-for-like alternative.
A broader product ladder
Liquid Web publishes VPS, dedicated, WordPress, WooCommerce, email and reseller products. That range is useful when your requirements change: an agency might need several managed environments, an online shop may prefer a WooCommerce-oriented service, and an application with sustained resource demand may eventually need dedicated infrastructure. The existence of a product category does not prove that every configuration is right for your workload; it means there are more upgrade paths than a single shared account.
The 99.999% guarantee
Liquid Web advertises a 99.999% uptime guarantee. Biz.nf advertises 99.9%. As a purely mathematical comparison over a 365-day year, 99.9% permits about 8 hours 46 minutes of unavailability, while 99.999% permits about 5 minutes 15 seconds. Those are theoretical allowances, not measurements of either provider’s actual performance. Guarantee definitions, exclusions, maintenance windows, claim procedures and eligible services determine what a customer can actually recover, so read the applicable service-level terms.

Biz.nf’s low headline price has conditions
Biz.nf’s paid prices are annual-prepayment equivalents. The promotional Personal rate totals $59.40 for 12 months at the displayed rate, while the listed regular equivalent totals $83.40. Business totals $83.40 at its promotional equivalent and $131.40 at the regular equivalent. The important budgeting question is not only “Can I afford the first year?” but also “What will renewal cost, and am I comfortable paying a year in advance?”

The free plan removes the hosting charge but does not remove the need to manage a domain, content, backups outside the host, email or future capacity. If the free allowance is enough and the site is noncommercial or experimental, that trade-off may be ideal. If downtime or migration work has a business cost, the nominal hosting bill is only one part of total cost.
Liquid Web’s displayed discounts are promotional
At the published managed VPS entry rate, 12 months at $14.75 per month would equal $177 before taxes or other charges. The $24.75 and $34.75 displayed tiers would equal $297 and $417 respectively at those monthly figures. These calculations are useful for scale, but Liquid Web’s displayed discounts are time-limited promotions; verify the billing term, renewal price and any setup or license charges at checkout.
The self-managed promotional starting point of $8.50 per month would equal $102 over 12 months at that displayed rate. It is not automatically cheaper in total: several hours of administrator time, emergency troubleshooting or paid security work can exceed the hosting difference between a self-managed and managed server.

- Payment term: annual prepayment for Biz.nf paid plans ties up cash and makes cancellation or migration timing important.
- Renewal: model the regular Biz.nf prices and the post-promotion Liquid Web price, not only the introductory figure.
- Labor: root access and self-management require patching, monitoring, hardening and incident response.
- Downtime: if every outage affects orders, leads or contractual service levels, managed operations and a stronger published guarantee may justify a higher invoice.
- Growth: a cheap shared account that must be moved after a traffic surge can cost more in engineering time than choosing an appropriately sized VPS initially.
Shared hosting versus managed VPS: the practical difference
| Decision area | Biz.nf shared plan | Managed VPS approach |
|---|---|---|
| Resource model | Plan-level allowances such as unlimited space and transfer; CPU and RAM are shared and not allocated in the supplied description | Published allocation at the entry tier: 2 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 40 GB SSD and 10 TB bandwidth |
| Server access | Website-level tools such as FTP, PHP/MySQL, installers and builders | Server administration is available according to the product; Biz.nf’s VPS page specifically lists root access and Webmin |
| Maintenance | Host abstracts much of the operating system and service layer | Managed service is intended to reduce routine administration; self-managed products place that work with the customer |
| Scaling path | Move from free to paid shared, then evaluate VPS | Select a larger managed tier, dedicated service or another specialized product as needs change |
| Typical risk | Resource contention or policy limits despite an “unlimited” allowance | Higher recurring cost and possible overprovisioning for a small site |
For a brochure site, blog or early-stage project, shared hosting avoids paying for idle RAM and CPU. For an application that needs a known amount of memory, background workers, custom services or predictable isolation, allocated VPS resources are easier to plan around. The correct choice depends on the application’s peak load and operational requirements, not on the word “unlimited.”
Which host fits common workloads?
Choose Biz.nf free hosting when
- You are building a small personal, community or test site.
- 1,000 MB of storage and 5,000 MB of monthly transfer are sufficient.
- You need PHP/MySQL and FTP but do not need server-level customization.
- No forced advertising is important and you accept the free plan’s limits.
Choose a Biz.nf paid shared plan when
- You want a low annual cost with a domain, weekly backups, installers, a builder and support included in the listed plan features.
- Your application is compatible with shared hosting and does not require dedicated CPU or RAM.
- You can budget for the regular $6.95 Personal or $10.95 Business monthly equivalent after the promotion.
- You are comfortable checking fair-use and resource policies before placing a high-traffic or computationally intensive site there.
Choose a Biz.nf VPS when
- You need root access, Webmin or XEN virtualization and are prepared to administer a server.
- You have confirmed the exact CPU, RAM, storage, bandwidth, backup and support details for the tier you want.
- Your application cannot run within shared-hosting limits but does not require a larger managed platform.
Choose Liquid Web managed VPS when
- You want a published resource starting point of 2 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 40 GB SSD and 10 TB bandwidth.
- You operate ecommerce, an agency portfolio or a growing application where maintenance time and downtime risk have material business costs.
- You prefer managed infrastructure and a 99.999% published uptime guarantee, while understanding that the guarantee is not an independent performance measurement.
- You expect to evaluate dedicated, WordPress, WooCommerce, email or reseller products as the business evolves.
Choose self-managed VPS only when
- You or your team can patch the operating system, secure services, monitor logs, test backups and respond to incidents.
- You have verified what the provider excludes from support and what the $8.50 promotional rate becomes at renewal.
- The lower hosting price is worth the additional staff time and operational risk.
A migration and selection checklist
Use this sequence before moving a live site or committing to a long billing term.
- Inventory the workload. Record the application runtime, PHP/MySQL or other database needs, storage currently used, monthly transfer, peak concurrent users, scheduled jobs and any custom services.
- Separate hard requirements from preferences. Mark whether you need root access, a specific operating system, dedicated memory, a control panel, managed patching, weekly backups or a particular support response.
- Match the hosting model. Start with Biz.nf shared hosting if the inventory fits a shared environment. Move to a VPS when resource isolation or server control is a requirement, not simply because a VPS sounds faster.
- Price both years one and two. Put promotional and regular rates in separate columns, include annual-prepayment requirements, and add taxes, licenses or migration labor if applicable.
- Verify the service terms. Read the uptime guarantee for the exact product, including exclusions and claim rules. Treat “unlimited” as a plan allowance subject to policy, not as an unlimited hardware promise.
- Create an independent backup. Keep a restorable copy of site files, databases, DNS records, certificates and configuration before changing nameservers or canceling the old account.
- Test before DNS cutover. Use a temporary hostname or hosts-file entry to check login, forms, database writes, scheduled tasks, file uploads and payment flows on the new service.
- Lower DNS TTL ahead of the move. A shorter TTL can reduce propagation time, but it does not guarantee that every resolver will switch immediately.
- Cut over during a quiet period. Freeze content changes or put the application in maintenance mode long enough to copy the final database and avoid split-brain updates.
- Keep a rollback window. Monitor errors, transactions, mail flow and resource use before ending the old service. Restore the previous DNS target if a critical issue appears.
Pitfalls that change the answer
Confusing storage and transfer with compute capacity
Unlimited storage and transfer on a shared plan do not allocate processor time or memory. A site can use very little disk while exhausting PHP workers or database capacity. Ask how CPU, RAM, processes, inodes, database connections and traffic bursts are handled before assuming the plan can run a demanding application.

Treating a guarantee as a performance benchmark
A 99.999% commitment is stronger on paper than 99.9%, but it does not prove faster page delivery, lower latency or better performance for every customer. The published figures are contractual or marketing commitments. Look at the remedy, exclusions and measurement method rather than converting the percentage directly into a promise of user experience.

Comparing promotional prices as if they were permanent
Biz.nf publishes promotional and regular equivalents and requires annual prepayment for those displayed paid-plan figures. Liquid Web’s displayed discounts are time-limited. Put the regular renewal amount and billing term in your budget before you migrate a business-critical site.
Buying root access without an operations plan
Root access is valuable for custom software, but it also removes the safety of a host-managed default. Define who applies security updates, checks backups, watches monitoring alerts, rotates credentials and handles a compromised server. If nobody owns those tasks, managed hosting is usually the safer operational choice even when its monthly price is higher.
Choosing a VPS too early
A VPS can be unnecessary for a small site that works within shared-hosting limits. Paying for idle capacity and administering a server adds cost without solving a real constraint. Start with measured requirements and upgrade when storage, transfer, compute, control or reliability needs justify it.
Decision matrix
| Your priority | Most sensible starting point | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Zero hosting budget for a small site | Biz.nf free plan | It includes 1,000 MB storage, 5,000 MB monthly transfer, one domain, PHP/MySQL and FTP without forced ads |
| Lowest paid annual cost | Biz.nf Personal or Business | The displayed promotional equivalents are $4.95 and $6.95 per month with annual prepayment |
| Simple site with add-on conveniences | Biz.nf paid shared hosting | Free domain registration, weekly backups, builders, installers and 24/7 support are listed features |
| Need root access at a low listed price | Compare Biz.nf VPS and Liquid Web self-managed VPS | Biz.nf lists root access on its VPS page; Liquid Web lists a $8.50 promotional self-managed starting point, but specifications and renewal terms must be checked |
| Managed server administration | Liquid Web managed VPS | The service is positioned around managed infrastructure and starts with published 2 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 40 GB SSD and 10 TB bandwidth |
| Business-critical availability target | Evaluate Liquid Web managed options first | Its published 99.999% guarantee is a stronger stated commitment than Biz.nf’s 99.9%; verify the exact SLA and exclusions |
| Agency or growing product portfolio | Liquid Web’s managed product range | VPS, dedicated, WordPress, WooCommerce, email and reseller categories provide more specialized growth paths |
Final verdict
Biz.nf wins the price and accessibility contest. Its free plan is unusually clear for a small site, and its paid shared plans remain inexpensive even when modeled at the listed regular rates. Choose it when your workload fits shared hosting and your main constraint is budget.
Liquid Web wins when the requirement is managed infrastructure rather than merely web space. Its managed VPS entry tier publishes concrete CPU, memory, SSD and bandwidth allocations, and its 99.999% uptime guarantee is a stronger stated commitment than Biz.nf’s 99.9%. Choose it when staff time, application growth, resource predictability or the cost of an outage outweighs the lower shared-hosting bill.

If you are undecided, measure the site first: current storage, monthly transfer, peak resource use, required software and the hours your team can spend on server administration. That inventory will usually make the correct host—and the correct hosting model—obvious.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Biz.nf cheaper than Liquid Web?
Yes at the entry level. Biz.nf has a free plan and paid shared plans shown at $4.95 and $6.95 promotional monthly equivalents with annual prepayment. Liquid Web’s managed VPS starts at a displayed $14.75 per month, while its $8.50 figure is for a promotional self-managed VPS and is not a like-for-like managed service.
Does Biz.nf really provide unlimited storage and bandwidth?
Its paid shared-plan comparison lists unlimited web space and data transfer. That wording does not allocate unlimited CPU, RAM, database capacity or processes; resource and fair-use policies still determine whether a demanding workload is suitable.
What is the cheapest Liquid Web option in this comparison?
The published promotional self-managed VPS starting point is $8.50 per month. Managed VPS starts at $14.75 per month for 2 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 40 GB SSD and 10 TB bandwidth. Confirm the term, renewal rate and support scope before purchase.
Do I need managed VPS hosting?
You need it when nobody on your team can reliably handle patching, hardening, monitoring, backups and incident response, or when downtime has a substantial business cost. A small site that fits shared hosting does not need a VPS merely for prestige.
Which provider has the better uptime?
Liquid Web publishes a 99.999% uptime guarantee and Biz.nf publishes 99.9%. Those are provider commitments, not directly comparable independent measurements of real-world uptime. Read each guarantee’s scope, exclusions and remedy.
Can I move from Biz.nf shared hosting to a VPS later?
That is a normal progression, but plan for an application migration: inventory dependencies, make independent backups, test the copied site, synchronize the final database and keep a rollback option before changing DNS.

Are Liquid Web’s $24.75 and $34.75 VPS tiers fully specified here?
The listed pricing includes those higher managed-VPS prices, but the supplied plan details do not state their CPU, RAM, storage or bandwidth. Request the exact specifications before comparing them with another provider’s tier.
Is a Biz.nf VPS managed?
The VPS page lists Webmin, root access, XEN virtualization and monitoring, but the supplied details do not define a complete managed-service scope. Confirm who handles operating-system updates, security, backups and emergency support.
