Quick answer: Choose Breath of the Wild if you want the best all-round introduction and can play with a non-Portuguese interface. Choose Echoes of Wisdom first if Brazilian Portuguese text is essential. Pick Tears of the Kingdom for the largest, most open-ended adventure; Link’s Awakening for a shorter traditional quest; or Skyward Sword HD for a guided story with motion and button controls.
Portuguese support is not uniform across Nintendo Switch editions. Nintendo Brazil lists Echoes of Wisdom with Português Brasileiro, while the Nintendo Portugal listings checked for Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Link’s Awakening and Skyward Sword HD do not list Portuguese. Always verify the language field for your own eShop region or physical-card edition before paying.

How Portuguese language support works on Switch
“Portuguese-speaking” covers at least two relevant markets. Brazilian Portuguese and European Portuguese are different localization targets, and a listing for one does not guarantee the other. Nintendo Brazil’s product page explicitly includes Português Brasileiro in the supported-language entry for Echoes of Wisdom. That makes it the safest choice in this group for a Brazilian reader who requires Portuguese text.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The Nintendo Portugal pages checked for Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Link’s Awakening and Skyward Sword HD show several languages but no Portuguese option. That is a statement about those regional listings, not a promise that every cartridge or download sold worldwide has identical data. Imported cards, account regions and later print runs can differ.
Check before buying
- Open the Nintendo product page serving the country where your Nintendo Account is registered.
- Find the supported-languages field for the exact game and edition.
- For a physical copy, ask the seller for the region or product code and compare it with the language information for that market.
- Do not infer language support from the console menu language, the box artwork or another retailer’s title alone.
If Brazilian Portuguese is mandatory, make the language field the deciding factor rather than assuming that a Portuguese-speaking market uses the same software as another Portuguese-speaking market.
1. Breath of the Wild: the best first Zelda for most players
Breath of the Wild is the broadest starting recommendation when the player is comfortable reading a non-Portuguese interface. Nintendo presents it as a vast and dangerous territory centered on discovery, exploration and adventure. That design gives a newcomer room to investigate at their own pace instead of demanding a fixed route through a sequence of tightly ordered areas.

- Low commitment to one path: the discovery-focused structure lets you decide where to go and what to investigate next.
- Clear sense of scale: it demonstrates the open-world direction that defines modern Switch Zelda.
- Flexible pacing: you can treat it as a relaxed exploration game or pursue the main adventure more directly.
- Easy to find: Nintendo lists both a physical game card and a downloadable edition, subject to your market’s stock and storefront.
Who should choose it
Buy this one for a first Zelda, for someone moving from linear adventures to open-world games, or for a player who wants exploration to be the main activity. It is also the sensible entry point if you expect to continue to Tears of the Kingdom, because the later game is presented as a follow-up to this version of Hyrule.
Language trade-off
The Nintendo Portugal listing used for this comparison does not include Portuguese. Brazilian readers who need Portuguese text should therefore select Echoes of Wisdom instead, unless the exact edition they are buying shows a different language field.

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.

2. Tears of the Kingdom: the biggest Switch Zelda adventure
Tears of the Kingdom is the choice for players who want the most expansive version of this formula. Nintendo’s product description extends the journey across Hyrule’s surface and skies and also highlights exploration underground. Its scale rewards people who enjoy experimenting with routes and spending time away from the critical path.
What makes it different
- Three connected layers: the adventure is framed around surface, sky and underground spaces rather than one ground-level map.
- Imagination-first design: Nintendo Portugal describes the premise with the sentence, “Cria a tua própria aventura num mundo onde podes dar asas à imaginação.”
- Follow-up context: Nintendo’s page asks readers to recall Breath of the Wild before beginning, so newcomers should understand that this is the larger sequel rather than a separate reset.
- Two purchase formats: a physical card and a download are listed, with availability depending on the market.
Who should choose it
Choose it when maximum scope matters more than a simple introduction. It suits players who already know the modern open-world Zelda format, people who want a long-form follow-up, and households buying one game to support extended exploration.

If this is your first Zelda and you prefer a smaller learning curve, Breath of the Wild presents the discovery-focused foundation first. If Portuguese text is non-negotiable, neither of the Nintendo Portugal listings for these two games supplies that option.
3. Echoes of Wisdom: the safest pick when Brazilian Portuguese text decides the purchase
Echoes of Wisdom moves to the top of the list for Brazilian readers who require Portuguese text. Nintendo Brazil’s product page explicitly lists Português Brasileiro among its supported languages. No other title in this comparison has that same confirmation from the regional page checked.
Why language changes the ranking
Menus, item descriptions and story text are easier to follow when they use the reader’s strongest language. For a child, a family sharing one console or anyone who does not want to translate while playing, that accessibility can matter more than map size. In that situation, a confirmed Brazilian Portuguese listing outweighs the broader exploration recommendation attached to Breath of the Wild.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Edition caution
The confirmation applies to the Nintendo Brazil listing. Before buying an imported cartridge or a download through another country’s storefront, check that edition’s own supported-language field. Brazilian Portuguese support does not automatically establish European Portuguese support, and a retailer’s abbreviated specifications may omit the distinction.

Best fit
Pick this game for Brazilian players who want a current Switch Zelda with Portuguese text, for families introducing the series to younger readers, or for anyone who values language comfort above the largest possible world. If you are buying for Portugal, verify the Portuguese-market page separately rather than treating the Brazilian listing as universal.
4. Link’s Awakening: the compact traditional adventure
Link’s Awakening is the strongest alternative when an enormous open world feels like too much. Nintendo’s Switch release is a compact, remake-style adventure with a contained structure. That makes it easier to plan short sessions and easier to finish than the two large-scale games.
Reasons to choose it
- Contained scope: the game keeps its adventure concentrated instead of spreading it across a huge territory.
- Traditional feel: it is the natural pick for players who prefer a more structured, classic progression model.
- Short-session friendly: a focused layout is practical for handheld play, travel and players who dislike open-ended checklists.
- Flexible buying: Nintendo Portugal lists both card and download editions.
Language and audience
The Nintendo Portugal page checked for this title does not list Portuguese. It is therefore a good structural recommendation but not the language-first recommendation for Brazilian readers. Choose it when compact design and traditional progression are the priorities, then verify the exact regional edition before purchase.
5. Skyward Sword HD: the guided story with two control schemes
Skyward Sword HD is aimed at players who want a more directed story and a choice of control methods. Nintendo highlights improved performance, improved Joy-Con motion controls and a new button-control option. You can therefore use motion input when it suits your setup or play with conventional buttons when it does not.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Why control flexibility matters
- Motion option: Joy-Con motion controls preserve the physical style associated with the original design.
- Button option: the added button scheme is useful in handheld mode, for players who prefer a conventional layout, or when motion play is impractical.
- Guided structure: the story-led format gives newcomers clearer direction than the open-world entries.
Who should buy it
Select this one for a player who values narrative guidance, wants to alternate between docked and handheld play, or specifically prefers having both motion and button controls. Nintendo also documents amiibo compatibility, but the figures are optional enhancements rather than a requirement to complete the game.
Language note
The Nintendo Portugal listing checked for Skyward Sword HD does not include Portuguese. Treat it as a control-and-structure recommendation, not as evidence of Portuguese localization.
Choosing by the experience you want
| Your priority | Best match | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| First modern Zelda and open exploration | Breath of the Wild | Discovery-focused open world with the clearest introduction to this format. |
| Largest possible adventure | Tears of the Kingdom | Combines Hyrule’s surface, skies and underground in one expansive sequel. |
| Brazilian Portuguese text | Echoes of Wisdom | Nintendo Brazil explicitly lists Português Brasileiro. |
| Shorter, traditional structure | Link’s Awakening | Compact, contained adventure rather than a giant open world. |
| Guided story and control choice | Skyward Sword HD | Story-led progression with motion or button controls. |
Physical card or digital download?
All of the checked titles have an official card and/or downloadable listing, but the practical choice depends on your market and language verification.
Choose a physical card when
- You want to lend or resell the game.
- You can confirm the card’s region and supported-language entry before purchase.
- Your console storage is limited and you prefer not to download the full software.
Choose a download when
- You want to switch games without changing cartridges.
- Your Nintendo Account is set to the market whose language listing you have checked.
- You have enough storage and a reliable internet connection for the initial download and updates.
Do not assume that a Portuguese-language console interface changes the text inside a game. Language data belongs to the game edition, so the product page or packaging for that edition is the decisive reference.
A practical buying decision for each Portuguese-speaking market
Brazil
Start with Echoes of Wisdom if Portuguese text is required; Nintendo Brazil lists Português Brasileiro. If language is flexible, choose Breath of the Wild for the broadest introduction, Tears of the Kingdom for maximum scope, Link’s Awakening for compact traditional play, or Skyward Sword HD for guided progression and control flexibility.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Portugal and other European Portuguese markets
Do not transfer the Brazilian listing automatically. The Nintendo Portugal pages checked for the other four games do not list Portuguese, and the available evidence here does not establish European Portuguese support for Echoes of Wisdom. Check the local Nintendo page and the exact edition before ordering.
Imported copies
Imported software can be a poor shortcut when language is the deciding factor. Confirm the product code, account region, supported languages and whether downloadable content or updates are tied to a particular market. If a seller cannot provide those details, buy from a listing that displays them clearly.
Are Zelda amiibo necessary?
No. Nintendo documents amiibo compatibility for Skyward Sword HD and Tears of the Kingdom, but the figures are optional enhancements. Treat them as accessories for collectors or players who want the supported extras, not as prerequisites for the main adventure. Check compatibility for the exact game and figure before spending money; compatibility does not imply that every amiibo unlocks the same type of content.
Recommended play orders
Best order for a newcomer
- Begin with Breath of the Wild to learn the modern discovery-led format.
- Continue with Tears of the Kingdom when you want a larger sequel built on that foundation.
Best order when Portuguese text comes first
- Verify the Brazilian Nintendo listing for Echoes of Wisdom and buy that edition if Português Brasileiro is required.
- Add another game only after checking its own regional language field.
Best order for traditional or guided play
- Choose Link’s Awakening for the compact traditional route.
- Choose Skyward Sword HD if you want a more directed story and the option between motion and buttons.
Bottom line
Breath of the Wild is the best general starting point for a Portuguese-speaking player who can use a non-Portuguese interface. Tears of the Kingdom is the premium choice for the biggest follow-up adventure. Echoes of Wisdom should be your first stop when Brazilian Portuguese text is the deciding requirement, because Nintendo Brazil explicitly lists it. Link’s Awakening and Skyward Sword HD serve different preferences—compact traditional structure versus guided story with flexible controls. Whichever title you choose, verify the language and edition for your own region before checkout.
