For a YouTube music playlist that needs to stay live around the clock, choose between a local encoder such as OBS and a cloud playlist broadcaster. A local setup gives you hands-on control, but the computer and internet connection must remain available. A cloud service runs the broadcast remotely, so your home computer can be off. In either case, confirm your channel is eligible and that you have the rights to broadcast every song and visual.
Best tools and workflows for a 24/7 YouTube playlist
- StreamNeo — best cloud option for a YouTube playlist. Upload videos, add your YouTube stream key, and go live; StreamNeo loops the uploaded media from the cloud. It supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and the first day is free with no card. See StreamNeo.
- OBS — best local-encoder workflow. YouTube supports encoder streaming, and OBS can be configured to send a live feed. This route suits creators who want to operate the encoder themselves and can keep the host computer and connection running.
- Streamloop — cloud playlist workflow to investigate. Streamloop says playlists can run as one continuous live stream and that videos can be added or replaced while live. These are vendor-described capabilities, not independent reliability findings.
- Looping Stream — cloud repeat workflow to investigate. The service describes continuous repeat playback. Check its current formats, price and limits directly; the feature description is not an independent performance assessment.
- LiveGoLive — cloud playlist workflow to investigate. LiveGoLive describes generating a continuous broadcast from an uploaded playlist without leaving a local computer running. Confirm current plan details and supported workflows with the vendor.
The first choice is a workflow decision, not a claim that one encoder or provider is universally more reliable. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring stream health; vendor descriptions of cloud capabilities do not establish comparative uptime or performance.
Choose local encoding or cloud broadcasting
| Decision | Local encoder, such as OBS | Cloud playlist broadcaster |
|---|---|---|
| Where the stream is generated | Your computer runs an encoder and sends the feed to YouTube. | The provider’s remote infrastructure broadcasts uploaded media. |
| What must stay running | The computer and its internet connection, for the duration of the stream. | A local computer does not need to remain running, according to provider descriptions. |
| How you manage content | You configure and monitor the encoder and its playlist source. | You upload and arrange content in the service; available live playlist-editing features vary by provider. |
| Best fit | You want direct encoder control and can keep the machine and connection available. | You want remote operation and do not want a home computer broadcasting continuously. |
| What the available evidence establishes | YouTube documents encoder streaming and configuration guidance, but does not specify a special minimum computer model for this playlist use case. | Provider pages describe their own features; they are not independent tests of reliability, performance or value. |
Before choosing a cloud provider, check whether it supports your intended playlist format and content updates, what it currently charges, and what storage or stream limits apply. Do not infer these details from another provider’s feature list.
Check YouTube eligibility and music rights first
Make sure the channel can go live
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days to enable live streaming. Live content must also comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Review YouTube’s live-streaming setup requirements before configuring a service.

Clear the rights to every recording and composition
A loop does not grant permission to broadcast the music or video. Verify that you are authorized to use both the sound recording and the underlying composition for a YouTube live stream. A general music subscription should not be assumed to include live-broadcast rights; check the applicable rights and license terms.
Set up a playlist with a local encoder
YouTube documents encoder streaming, but does not prescribe a particular PC model for this playlist scenario. The host must be capable of playing the source and encoding a continuous feed, and its network connection must stay available. Use YouTube’s current settings rather than relying on old encoder presets: its guidance recommends RTMPS for typical encoder streaming and specifies video, keyframe and audio settings that can change over time.

- Verify channel access. Confirm channel verification and check for any live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days.
- Prepare a rights-cleared playlist. Confirm every song and visual is authorized for broadcast. Arrange the source material in the order and repeat behavior you want.
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and create a stream. Select the encoder workflow and use the server URL and stream key displayed for that broadcast. Keep the key private; anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to the stream.
- Configure OBS using the current YouTube encoder settings. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube or the custom RTMPS server option as appropriate, and enter the server and stream key. Set the encoder’s resolution, frame rate, bitrate, keyframe interval and audio format to match YouTube’s current live encoder settings and your upload connection.
- Build the repeating scene or media source. Add the playlist source or media, ensure the desired repeat behavior is enabled, and confirm the scene does not end or switch unexpectedly when a file finishes. Exact source and playlist controls depend on how you supply media to OBS.
- Test before making the stream public. YouTube recommends testing with representative audio and motion, checking the connection and monitoring stream health. Confirm that sound is present, the video is moving as expected, and the stream remains stable before relying on it continuously.
- Start the encoder and monitor YouTube’s stream health. Keep the computer awake, prevent automatic shutdown or restart, and watch for dropped frames, network instability or YouTube warnings. A local setup stops sending when its host or connection goes offline.
RTMP/RTMPS versus HLS
RTMPS is YouTube’s recommended option for typical encoder streaming. HLS is also supported for compatible encoders, including OBS according to YouTube Help, but it has higher latency than RTMP and specific segment and playlist requirements. It is a protocol option, not a requirement for a continuous music playlist. Use HLS only when your encoder and workflow need it, and follow YouTube’s current HLS ingestion instructions. Google’s HLS developer guidance explains how media playlists and segments form a continuous decodable stream.
Or let it run in the cloud

A local encoder avoids a cloud-service fee only if you already have suitable hardware and connectivity; it still requires the machine and connection to stay available. Cloud broadcasting shifts the continuous broadcast to the provider, so compare the provider’s current price, storage, playlist controls and limits against your needs. StreamNeo’s same product is offered across its billing lengths; only the billing length changes. Its slots include one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops, and StreamNeo team support. Current options are:
- Daily: $0.99 per day
- Weekly: $2.99 per week
- Monthly: $9.99 per month
- 6 months: $49.99 for 6 months
- Yearly: $89.99 a year
Billing can be cancelled any time. UPI and cards are accepted in India; card checkout is available worldwide. For five or more slots, contact StreamNeo support. Troubleshooting a continuous playlist stream
- You cannot start a live stream: Confirm the channel is verified and has no live-stream restriction from the previous 90 days. Check YouTube Live Control Room for account or stream warnings.
- YouTube receives no video: Check that the encoder is started, the selected server and stream key match the intended broadcast, and the connection is active. If you changed stream settings, confirm the encoder uses the current values shown in YouTube.
- The stream looks unstable or drops frames: Test the connection and encoder with representative content, then review YouTube’s stream-health indicators. Adjust encoder settings using YouTube’s current recommendations rather than guessing a bitrate.
- Audio or video stops when a track ends: Check the playlist source’s repeat and end-of-file behavior and verify the next item is loaded. Test the transition before leaving the stream unattended.
- A cloud service cannot play or update your playlist as expected: Check that the uploaded format and update workflow are supported by that service, then consult its current documentation. Capabilities described by one provider should not be assumed for another.
- YouTube flags or restricts the broadcast: Review the notice and the rights for the specific recordings and compositions. A playlist loop does not change copyright obligations.
