For a finished 1080p30 SDR playlist video, export an MP4 using H.264, progressive scan, a frame rate matching the source, VBR video at YouTube’s recommended 8 Mbps, and 48 kHz stereo audio at the recommended 384 kbps. If you are sending a live encoder feed instead, use the separate live-stream settings: at 1080p30, YouTube recommends 14 Mbps for H.264 or 10 Mbps for AV1/H.265, with CBR and a two-second keyframe interval. These figures are YouTube recommendations, not a special preset for Hindi devotional music.

First decide: upload a finished playlist or broadcast live?

The settings depend on how the video reaches YouTube. An upload is a rendered file you submit to YouTube. A live stream is an encoder sending a continuous feed to YouTube’s ingest server. Their bitrate recommendations are different and should not be swapped.

Workflow Video settings Audio settings Other settings
Finished 1080p SDR upload MP4; H.264; progressive; 4:2:0; match the source frame rate; VBR. YouTube recommends 8 Mbps at 24/25/30 fps or 12 Mbps at 48/50/60 fps. 48 kHz; stereo recommendation 384 kbps. YouTube lists AAC-LC, Opus, or Eclipsa Audio for uploads. Fast Start (moov atom at the front); no edit lists.
1080p30 live encoder feed H.264, AV1, or H.265; CBR. YouTube recommends 14 Mbps for H.264 or 10 Mbps for AV1/H.265. AAC or MP3. YouTube’s live advanced settings list 128 kbps stereo and 44.1 kHz for stereo. Two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. RTMPS is recommended.

These are YouTube’s published recommendations, accessed in 2026, not results from testing a particular devotional program. See the upload encoding recommendations and live encoder recommendations.

Settings for an uploaded devotional playlist

Video format, resolution, and frame rate

For a typical 1080p SDR export, choose MP4 with H.264, progressive scan, and 4:2:0 chroma. Match the frame rate to the source rather than converting a mostly static playlist to 60 fps just because the option exists. YouTube says, “Content should be encoded and uploaded in the same frame rate it was recorded.” If the source is interlaced, deinterlace it before export.

Use VBR for the uploaded file. At 1080p SDR, YouTube recommends 8 Mbps for 24, 25, or 30 fps and 12 Mbps for 48, 50, or 60 fps. Those recommendations address video bitrate; they are not a promise that every source needs exactly that rate to look its best.

Audio and export checks

Set upload audio to 48 kHz. For stereo, YouTube recommends 384 kbps, and lists AAC-LC, Opus, or Eclipsa Audio as supported recommendations. Listen to the exported file from beginning to end, including transitions and the final segment, to catch clipping, unexpected silence, or gaps before uploading.

Settings for a live encoder stream

Resolution, codec, bitrate, and keyframes

For 1080p30 live ingest, YouTube recommends CBR and 14 Mbps with H.264, or 10 Mbps with AV1 or H.265. Set the keyframe interval to two seconds and do not exceed four seconds. Use RTMPS where available. The applicable recommendation depends on the codec and the resolution/frame rate you select; check YouTube’s live encoder settings table if you choose a different combination.

Bandwidth and preflight test

Plan for sustained upload bandwidth at least 20% above the total streaming bitrate, as YouTube recommends. Test with representative audio and movement before going live, then watch stream health during the broadcast. YouTube’s streaming tips cover network preparation and monitoring. YouTube Help puts the test plainly: “Tests should include audio and movement in the video similar to what you’ll be doing in the stream.”

A practical workflow

  1. Choose the delivery method. Decide whether you will upload one finished file or send a live encoder feed; follow the corresponding settings above.
  2. Inspect the source. Check its resolution and frame rate. Preserve that frame rate for an upload, and deinterlace interlaced footage.
  3. Set the video bitrate for the workflow. For a 1080p SDR upload, use YouTube’s recommendation for the selected frame-rate group. For live, use the live recommendation for the codec and ingest resolution/frame rate.
  4. Check the complete audio program. For an upload, export at 48 kHz and listen through the opening, transitions, and ending. For a live stream, keep to the live audio settings rather than merging upload-specific guidance into them.
  5. Test and monitor live broadcasts. Verify sustained upload capacity with headroom, run a representative test, and monitor stream health while live.

Common problems and fixes

  • The upload looks soft or blocky: Confirm the export resolution and frame rate match the source and that you used the upload bitrate recommendation for that frame-rate group. Upload recommendations do not guarantee a particular result for every source.
  • The live stream buffers or loses health: Check whether the connection can sustain the total stream bitrate plus YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. Reduce the stream’s bitrate or output settings if the connection cannot sustain it, then test again.
  • The live ingest rejects or mishandles the feed: Verify the selected codec’s live bitrate recommendation, CBR mode, and keyframe interval (two seconds, no more than four), and use RTMPS where available.
  • The playlist has gaps, silence, or clipping: Review the exported file’s full duration, especially joins and the ending, and correct the source or edit before publishing.
  • The export menu has no exact match: The source frame rate, editor, encoder, and device capabilities determine which options are available. Use the relevant YouTube specification as a target rather than assuming a specific software preset.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is to keep a pre-recorded devotional playlist live on YouTube, StreamNeo can loop uploaded videos from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; your computer and home connection can be off. It streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers, and it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo and pricing; review copyright safety before streaming music or visuals. Start the free first day.
