Del Perro Pier is worth visiting in Grand Theft Auto V even if you never board the Ferris Whale or Leviathan. Treat it as a free-roam sightseeing stop: walk the pier and boardwalk, watch pedestrians and performers, pause at the railings, continue onto Del Perro Beach, and use the ocean, coastline and Los Santos skyline as a changing screenshot backdrop.
The landmark appears in both GTA V and GTA Online. The general sightseeing route works in either mode, although individual ambient scenes and interactions can differ by mode and update. Arcade games are reported by one location guide, but a dedicated playable arcade at the pier is not firmly confirmed, so consider that an occasional possibility rather than a promised activity.

What you can do at Del Perro Pier without riding anything
Del Perro Pier is a seaside landmark in Del Perro, Los Santos, beside Del Perro Beach. Its two named attractions, the Ferris Whale and Leviathan, are the most obvious activities, but they are only one part of the location. The pier also functions as a public boardwalk where the game world supplies small, unscripted scenes and broad coastal views.

| Walk the pier and boardwalk | Stroll from the Del Perro side, follow the deck and stop at different outlooks. | Documented ambient activity | Quiet sightseeing without committing to a ride |
| Watch pedestrians | Observe visitors moving around the landmark, including people who stop at the railings. | Documented ambient activity | Seeing the pier as a living public space |
| Look for performers | Watch performers encountered along the pier rather than starting a formal event. | Documented ambient activity | People-watching and atmosphere |
| Explore Del Perro Beach | Leave the pier for the neighboring beach and compare the shoreline view with the elevated boardwalk. | Documented location feature | A wider oceanfront scene and a change of pace |
| Take scenic screenshots | Frame the coast, skyline, pier structure, sunset color or nighttime lights. | Supported by the setting and location guide | Photography, role-play and scenic free roam |
| Check for arcade games | See whether an arcade-style interaction is available during your visit. | Reported by a location guide; dedicated play is not firmly confirmed | Curiosity, provided you do not expect a guaranteed minigame |
The first five options are reliable ways to make a visit worthwhile without boarding an attraction. They also combine naturally: walk the deck, stop to watch the ambient crowd, move down to the beach, then return for photographs as the light changes.

Start with a walk along the boardwalk
Enter from the Del Perro side
Approach the landmark from Del Perro and use the pier entrance as the start of a simple out-and-back route. Beginning on land gives you a clear transition from the streets to the oceanfront deck and lets you take in the entire structure instead of appearing halfway through the visit at a ride entrance.
Walk at a steady pace rather than rushing directly toward the Ferris wheel or roller coaster. The point of this visit is to notice the spaces between attractions: the boardwalk, railings, sightlines over the water and the people using the pier. If you are controlling a character on foot, remain on the pedestrian route and let the surrounding activity develop as you move.
Use the full length of the pier
Make one pass toward the far end, pausing at several points instead of treating the pier as a single viewing platform. Looking back toward Del Perro changes the composition: the pier becomes a leading line toward the beach and city. Looking outward emphasizes open water, while a side-facing view places the boardwalk, visitors and coastline in the same frame.

On the return walk, use the opposite side of the deck where possible. A second pass reveals angles that are easy to miss when the rides draw your attention. It also gives you another chance to encounter pedestrians or performers, whose presence is ambient rather than tied to a formal mission.
Stop at the railings
The landmark description specifically includes people leaning over the railings. Copy that behavior for a slower sightseeing stop: face the water, look along the coast, then turn back toward the pier structure. Railings provide a natural foreground for screenshots and make the difference between a generic ocean image and a recognizably Del Perro Pier scene.
There is no need to activate a ride or mission to justify this pause. The railing stops are the activity: they let you observe the water and coastline while the pedestrian population supplies movement in the background.
People-watch and find performers
Read the crowd as ambient world activity
Visitors to the pier can be seen walking, leaning over rails and watching performers. These are environmental scenes, not a documented minigame with a score, objective or reward. Walk slowly enough to notice who is gathered around the deck and where attention is focused.
Rank #2
- Includes the complete grand Theft Auto V story experience
When you see a small group stopped together, approach without immediately pushing through it. From a short distance you can frame the crowd, performer and ocean in one view. Move around the group for a side angle, then step back toward the rail to include more of the setting. This creates a more varied visit than following a straight line from entrance to ride.
Make a people-watching loop
- Begin at the entrance. Take a first look at the overall crowd and identify any clusters of pedestrians.
- Walk toward the center. Pause near the railings and watch for people stopping to look outward or gather around a performer.
- Continue toward the end. Check the less prominent sections of the deck instead of staying only near the rides.
- Return along the other side. Ambient characters may be in different positions, giving you new scenes and camera angles.
Because this is ambient activity, no particular performer or scene is guaranteed to appear at every visit. If the pier seems quiet, continue the walk, move onto the beach and come back later rather than assuming the location has no non-ride content.
Continue onto Del Perro Beach
Del Perro Beach sits next to the pier and expands the visit from a narrow elevated walkway into a broad shoreline. Leave the boardwalk for the sand, look back at the pier from ground level and then turn toward the open coast. The change in height and distance makes the beach useful even when you have already photographed the pier.
Compare the two viewpoints
- From the pier: You get an elevated oceanfront view with railings, deck boards and the structure itself in the foreground.
- From the beach: You can frame the pier as a landmark against the shoreline and see more of the surrounding coast at once.
- From the transition between them: You can combine the boardwalk, sand and water in one scene, which helps establish where the landmark sits in Del Perro.
A beach walk also breaks up people-watching. Spend a few minutes moving parallel to the water, then turn back toward the pier before returning to the boardwalk. This route is especially useful for role-play: the character can arrive for a stroll, leave the busy deck for the shoreline and return when the lights become the focus.

Do not treat Del Perro Beach as merely the parking area for the pier. It is a separate setting with its own long sightline and a lower, more open perspective. A short beach detour makes the visit feel complete without adding a ride or a mission objective.
Plan screenshots around the scenery
The pier’s strongest non-ride activity is visual. Its oceanfront position gives you several subjects—the coastline, water, boardwalk, skyline and pier lights—that change considerably with the time of day.
Daylight: show the location clearly
Use daylight when you want the architecture and geography to read immediately. Stand on the pier and include the railings or deck in the foreground, then pan toward Del Perro Beach and the coastline. A wider view can establish the landmark’s relationship to Del Perro, while a closer view emphasizes pedestrians and the boardwalk texture.

For a character-focused image, place the character near a railing and leave enough space beyond the shoulder to show the water. For a location-focused image, step back and allow the pier’s lines to lead toward the horizon or beach.

Sunset: emphasize color and silhouettes
A location guide recommends sunset viewing, and the timing works as a scenic tip rather than a gameplay reward. As the light changes, face along the coast for warm sky color, then turn back toward the pier to capture silhouettes of visitors and railings. The same route can produce several distinct images without moving far from the landmark.
Sunset is also a good time to combine activities: begin with a beach walk while the shoreline is bright, return to the pier for performer and pedestrian scenes, and finish at a railing as the sky darkens.
After dark: use the pier lights
At night, the illuminated pier becomes the subject. Frame the lights against the darker water, use the boardwalk as a leading line and include a few pedestrians to show scale. A view from Del Perro Beach can make the lit structure stand out against the shoreline, while a view from the deck puts the lights around the character.
Day, sunset and night are not separate missions; they are three visual treatments of the same free-roam stop. Choose the time that matches the image you want rather than expecting a hidden reward for arriving at a particular hour.
What to make of the arcade-games claim
One Del Perro location guide lists arcade games among the pier’s features. That is weaker evidence than the direct descriptions of walking, pedestrians, performers and railings: no primary Rockstar confirmation of a dedicated playable arcade at the pier has been established here.
In practical terms, you may check the area if you are curious, but do not plan your visit around a specific arcade cabinet, minigame, score or prize. If no playable interaction appears, that does not contradict the better-documented sightseeing activities. Treat the arcade reference as a reported possibility, not a guaranteed feature available in every mode or update.

Decide whether to add the rides
You can keep the visit entirely ride-free, but the two named attractions remain optional additions if your plans change. The Ferris Whale is the Ferris wheel, and Leviathan is the roller coaster. A gameplay guide reports that both are accessible in Story Mode without completing a mission first.
| Visit style | What you spend time doing | When it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Quiet sightseeing | Walking, rail views, people-watching and beach exploration | You want a relaxed free-roam stop or screenshots |
| Scenic evening | Beach walk followed by sunset and nighttime pier-light photographs | You care more about atmosphere than an attraction |
| Mixed visit | Complete the walk and sightseeing loop, then try one ride | You want the landmark and its headline attractions in one stop |
| Ride-focused visit | Go directly to the Ferris Whale or Leviathan | You are using the pier primarily for its amusement rides |
Adding a ride does not replace the boardwalk experience. The structure, beach and ambient crowd are still the reasons to arrive early, return after sunset or make a second pass after the attraction.
Story Mode and GTA Online: what carries over
Del Perro Pier appears in both Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online. The broad advice—walk the boardwalk, observe pedestrians and performers, use the railings, visit the adjacent beach and take coastal screenshots—applies to either mode.
Exact interactions can vary with mode and update. A scene present in one session may not appear in another, and the availability or behavior of a reported arcade interaction should not be assumed to be identical everywhere. Use the pier as a sightseeing landmark first, then treat any additional interaction as a bonus.
A Story Mode route
- Travel to Del Perro and approach the pier from land.
- Walk the boardwalk without selecting either ride.
- Pause at railings and observe pedestrians or performers.
- Continue onto Del Perro Beach for the lower shoreline view.
- Return to the pier for daylight, sunset or nighttime screenshots.
- If you want an attraction after the walk, try the Ferris Whale or Leviathan; the gameplay guide reports no mission prerequisite in Story Mode.
A GTA Online route
- Reach Del Perro Pier in a free-roam session and begin on foot at the Del Perro side.
- Follow the same boardwalk-and-beach loop, allowing for differences in ambient activity.
- Use the railings and the coastline as fixed screenshot points while other players or pedestrians move through the scene.
- Check any arcade-style interaction only as an unconfirmed possibility, not as the objective of the visit.
The route is intentionally simple because the sightseeing content is environmental. You do not need to turn the pier into a mission checklist to get value from it.

Five-minute orientation
Enter from Del Perro, walk far enough to see the boardwalk and ocean, stop at one railing, then turn back. This is the fastest way to confirm that the pier offers more than its rides and to capture a recognizable coastal image.
Fifteen-minute no-ride visit
Make a complete out-and-back walk. On the outward leg, focus on the pier structure and water. On the return, look for pedestrians and performers, stopping at different railings. Finish with a short detour onto Del Perro Beach so the visit includes both the elevated deck and shoreline.

Sunset photo session
Start on the beach while there is still enough light to show the coastline. Move back onto the pier as the sky changes, photograph the railings and silhouettes, then remain for the first nighttime views of the illuminated structure.
Full landmark visit
Walk the boardwalk, spend time people-watching, explore Del Perro Beach, check whether an arcade-style interaction is available, and decide at the end whether to ride the Ferris Whale or Leviathan. This order lets you experience the free-roam setting before an attraction becomes the focus.
Troubleshooting a disappointing visit
The pier feels empty
Ambient pedestrians and performers are part of the world rather than a scheduled show. Walk the full length, return along the opposite side and try again later in the session. You can still use the railings, beach and scenery even when no performer is currently drawing a crowd.

Do not assume you missed a required entrance or objective. The arcade detail is reported by a location guide, while a dedicated playable arcade lacks firm primary confirmation. Continue with the documented activities instead of searching indefinitely for a guaranteed cabinet or minigame.
The screenshot does not look like the pier
Add a recognizable element: the railing, boardwalk deck, coastline, neighboring beach or illuminated structure. A character standing against open water alone may look like any shoreline; including the pier’s built environment establishes the location.
You expected a mission or reward
The non-ride activities are sightseeing behaviors, not documented missions with completion rewards. Walking, watching performers and taking photographs are the point of the visit, so judge the stop by its atmosphere and views rather than by an unlock or payout.
Best choice for a ride-free visit
For the most dependable experience, combine a full boardwalk walk with the adjacent Del Perro Beach and stop at the railings to watch the ocean, pedestrians and any performers you encounter. Schedule the route around sunset or return after dark if you want the strongest visual change, using the pier lights as a nighttime subject. Check for arcade games only if you are curious, because that feature is less firmly established than the walking, people-watching, beach and viewpoint activities.
