For a YouTube channel that needs unattended, prerecorded video looping 24/7, StreamNeo is the first option to consider: it runs uploaded videos in the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K at 60 fps for one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. Gyre and Upstream are other cloud-based candidates identified for continuous streaming. Switchboard Live serves a different role: it distributes an encoder’s output to destinations, rather than storing prerecorded videos for a self-contained loop.
The right alternative depends on what you mean by “24/7.” A continuous loop of uploaded videos is not the same workflow as keeping an OBS or other live encoder feed online, or hosting a produced show with guests and overlays.
Start by choosing the kind of 24/7 stream you need
- Unattended prerecorded playback: Upload videos or make a playlist, then have a cloud service loop it to YouTube. You do not need a camera or a computer running at home for playback.
- Live encoder relay: OBS or another encoder produces the feed, and a distribution service sends it to YouTube and possibly other destinations. The encoder and a reliable internet connection remain part of the setup.
- Hosted live production: A browser studio helps produce a show with guests, overlays, and controls. This is useful for scheduled programming, but it is not automatically an unattended prerecorded-loop service.
These workflows are not interchangeable. In particular, a service’s ability to broadcast for a long time does not establish that it can loop uploaded videos indefinitely, or that it stores the resulting recording.
What Switchboard Live does—and what it does not do
Switchboard Live is positioned as a multistreaming and distribution platform. Its pricing page describes features including multiple destinations, scheduled start and stop, automatic destination start and stop, SRT input, and archive options; the applicable features depend on the current plan. Its enterprise tier is listed with “24/7 Streams.” Check Switchboard’s current pricing and features for the tier and setup that apply to you.

Switchboard’s FAQ says you need an encoder such as OBS, social destinations, and a steady internet connection. It also says Switchboard does not store prerecorded videos, so a prerecorded-video workflow must be sent by an encoder that supports it. The FAQ lists a maximum of 30 destinations per workflow and says comments are not aggregated. Those are statements on the Switchboard FAQ, which was last updated about 11 months before its review; verify details before relying on them for a current setup.
There is a distinction between an archive destination described on Switchboard’s pricing page and Switchboard storing or archiving the video itself: the FAQ says it does not store or archive the video. Confirm what a particular plan and configuration actually retain. The FAQ also says users must monitor comments on destination platforms themselves.

5. StreamYard: hosted production for shows
StreamYard’s paid plans list multistreaming and prerecorded streams, making it a possible fit for hosted or produced programming. Its support page says paid plans have no StreamYard-side YouTube broadcast-duration limit, but that is a broadcast limit—not a promise of unlimited recording or retention. In the stated recording context, the page says only the last 12 hours of a YouTube stream are recorded. Check StreamYard’s pricing page and its broadcast and recording limits before planning a long show or archive.
Quick comparison: match the service to the job
| Option | Best fit supported by the available product descriptions | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Cloud looping of uploaded video to YouTube | Streams uploaded videos, not a camera feed; YouTube only. |
| Gyre | Cloud-based 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming | Continuous-duration claim is made by Gyre; verify current plan details. |
| Upstream | Cloud studio described for 24/7 live video streaming with YouTube integration | Specific pricing and detailed feature comparison are not established here. |
| Restream | Multistream distribution, custom RTMP, and prerecorded Upload & Stream | The documented features do not establish unattended infinite looping. |
| StreamYard | Browser-based hosted production, including paid-plan multistreaming and prerecorded streams | Broadcast duration and recording/retention are separate limits. |
| Switchboard Live | Multistream distribution from an encoder to destinations | Its FAQ says it does not store prerecorded videos; a separate encoder is required. |
How to decide before you migrate
Choose playback or production first
If you want a playlist of prerecorded material to run while nobody is operating a studio, compare cloud playback services. If the content is a live camera or OBS-produced program, compare encoder relays or production studios. A product labeled “24/7” may describe continuous distribution or a live feed, not an unattended video loop.
Check destinations, scheduling, and control
- Count the platforms you actually need, and check whether custom RTMP is required.
- For a scheduled program, confirm whether start and stop are automated and whether destination behavior is configurable.
- If switching from Switchboard, check which encoder remains responsible for producing the feed and which service is responsible for distributing it.
- For comments or moderation, establish where you will monitor each destination; Switchboard’s FAQ says it does not aggregate comments.
Separate stream uptime from recordings and archives
Ask how long a service can broadcast, whether it records the feed, how long recordings are retained, and whether an archive destination is included. These are different capabilities. StreamYard’s stated lack of a service-side YouTube duration limit on paid plans, for example, does not mean its recording limit is unlimited.

Compare total operating cost, not just subscription price
For a local encoder relay, account for the computer’s power use, internet connection, encoder setup, and the time needed to recover a failed stream. For a cloud playback service, compare the subscription period and included storage with your playlist size and desired quality. StreamNeo offers a free upload-time calculator at streamneo.com/tools/upload-time-calculator and a cloud vs. PC cost calculator.
YouTube rules still apply to continuous streams
Using a third-party service does not make content compliant, guarantee monetization, or ensure recommendations. YouTube says live content must follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, and it can restrict livestreaming. Review YouTube’s live-streaming basics and policies before scheduling a continuous stream, especially when using music, reused footage, or material you do not own or have permission to use.
YouTube’s Help page states that a channel may have up to 10 active streams and a stream key up to 3 active streams at once. These platform limits can matter when you run multiple workflows; check the current YouTube guidance for your channel before configuring concurrent streams.
Or let it run in the cloud
For an unattended prerecorded YouTube loop, upload your video or playlist to StreamNeo, add the YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay powered on at home; uploaded video streams at any quality up to 4K 60 fps for one flat price per slot; and the service automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. India-based creators can pay with UPI or a card. Start the free StreamNeo day.

Does Switchboard Live itself loop uploaded videos all day?
Its FAQ says Switchboard does not store prerecorded videos; the prerecorded feed must come from an encoder that supports sending it.
Does “no duration limit” mean a stream is recorded forever?
No. Broadcast duration and recording or retention limits are separate; check the provider’s stated limits for both.
