HBO Max is the most natural starting point if your priority is HBO-led prestige television. Its official help page lists Basic with Ads, Standard, and Premium. The surfaced help information says live sports are included with Standard and Premium; availability of features can vary when you subscribe through a billing provider, so check the terms attached to your account before choosing a plan.

The service is not automatically the best choice for every drama fan. Start with the specific show and season you want, then compare the plan’s ad and viewing features with your needs.
Apple TV: a smaller library with a focused original slate
Apple TV makes sense when you would rather follow a curated run of original series than browse a large general-entertainment catalog. Do not rely on a quoted price without checking the service’s checkout page: the report gives conflicting monthly indications of $12.99 and $14.99.
Hulu: originals plus current television
Hulu’s official drama hub describes a mix of Hulu Originals, full seasons, current episodes, and classic favorites. That combination can be more useful than a prestige label if you want to keep up with current television as well as watch original series.

Where can you watch prestige TV besides Netflix?
Availability depends on your country and can change as licensing agreements shift. A 2026 comparison guide says catalogs change roughly every 30 days. Is Apple TV or HBO Max better for drama?
Choose HBO Max as the first service to investigate if you specifically want HBO-led titles and a drama library with that identity. Choose Apple TV if the named originals on its slate are the shows you want and you are comfortable with a smaller overall catalog.
