Current documentation supports five distinct integrations; GiveWP is a possible donation route that needs verification, and the available evidence does not support naming a seventh pick. The options below are not interchangeable, and none was independently tested for this article.
Compare the Square integrations by what you need to do
| Integration | Best fit | Checkout or payment path | Documented capabilities | Important check |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| WooCommerce Square | WooCommerce store selling online and in person | Square payments through WooCommerce | Payments plus product and inventory synchronization | Availability, currency, SSL, current version requirements, and payment-method limits |
| WC Shop Sync | WooCommerce store comparing broader sync features | Square payments, according to the plugin listing | Developer advertises product, inventory, customer, order, and sale-price synchronization | Which features require a paid tier, sync direction, and conflict handling |
| Connect Square Payments | Site using multiple WordPress tools or payment links | Redirects customers to Square-hosted checkout | Directory listing names WooCommerce, form plugins, memberships, payment links, and Square Subscriptions | Current plan limits and compatibility with each tool |
| WPForms Square add-on | Service, donation, or simple product payment forms | Payment through a WPForms form | One-time and recurring payments, conditional payment logic, and payment records in WordPress admin | Requires WPForms Pro or higher; confirm recurring-payment needs and test setup |
| Gravity Forms Square add-on | Existing Gravity Forms site needing configurable payment workflows | Payment through a Gravity Forms form | One-time payments, recurring subscriptions, authorizations/delayed capture, and refunds | Eligible license, required fields, and matching currency settings |
| GiveWP with Square | Nonprofit needing fundraising and donor-management features, if Square support is currently available | Not established by the reviewed listing | GiveWP is a donation platform; its directory description names Square among gateway integrations | Verify a maintained Square add-on, plan requirements, and recurring donation support |
The comparison identifies five documented integration products and one unverified GiveWP route—not seven confirmed recommendations. The right choice starts with the transaction model: a catalog and cart, a hosted payment page, or a form.
Choose the integration that matches your WordPress setup
WooCommerce Square: for a store with a catalog and shared inventory
WooCommerce describes its Square extension as both a payment gateway and a way to synchronize product and inventory data with Square. It is the clearest starting point if WooCommerce is already your store platform and you want to coordinate online and in-person sales.
WooCommerce’s payment-settings documentation lists availability in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, Spain, France, and Japan. It requires the Square account and store currencies to match, an SSL certificate, PHP 7.4 or later, WordPress 5.8 or later, and WooCommerce 6.8 or later. Requirements can change, and the extension page may give more current platform requirements, so check both sources before installing.

Cash App and gift cards cannot be used for subscription or pre-order products that require future charges. Confirm that the payment methods you intend to offer are available for your country and transaction type.
WC Shop Sync: for broader WooCommerce synchronization options
The WordPress.org listing advertises Square payments alongside synchronization for products, inventory, customer data, orders, and sale prices. The developer identifies some customer and order features as premium capabilities, so check the current plan details rather than assuming every function is included at no cost.
Rank #2

- Accept all major credit and debit cards and pay one low rate with no hidden fees and no long-term contracts.

The listing’s changelog records recent fixes and compatibility work, including changes involving payments, inventory, and product synchronization. That is evidence of development activity, not proof of reliability or a guarantee that its behavior suits your store. Before enabling synchronization on a live shop, confirm its data direction, handling of conflicting edits, variation support, version compatibility, and support terms; test it in staging first.
Connect Square Payments: for hosted checkout across WordPress tools
Connect Square Payments advertises a redirect to Square’s hosted payment page. Its directory listing names WooCommerce, Paid Memberships Pro, Fluent Forms, Contact Form 7, WPForms, Ninja Forms, Formidable Forms, MetForm, SureForms, Forminator, payment links, and Square Subscriptions. Some capabilities depend on the plan, so check the current listing for feature availability.

- Get your money as soon as the next business day.
- Get set up quickly with no long-term commitments. Download the Square Point of Sale app for free, create an account, and start taking payments anywhere.
- Run your business all in one place with the free Square Point of Sale app. Track your sales, manage inventory, accept tips, send receipts digitally, and more.
- Works with Apple devices with a Lightning connector.
A hosted checkout can suit a site that wants to use Square across several WordPress tools or prefers the payment step to take place on Square’s page. The redirect is a different customer flow from using WooCommerce Square or a form-builder add-on. Verify that the exact plugin, plan, and WordPress tool combination supports your needs; this is a third-party plugin, not the official WooCommerce Square extension.
WPForms Square: for payment-enabled forms
The WPForms Square add-on is intended for transactions submitted through a form rather than a full shopping cart. Its documentation covers one-time payments, recurring transactions, conditional payment logic, and viewing payment records in the WordPress admin. That can suit service payments, simple product orders, or donations whose conditions can be handled in a form.
Rank #4
- Pay one transparent rate per swipe for Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express.
- Works in conjunction with most downloadable Square point-of-sale apps on your device. Customers can pay, tip and sign directly on your device. Track payments in cash, gift cards and more. Also lets you send receipts via e-mail or text message, makes it easy to apply discounts, keeps a data and sales history log and more.
- Accepts magstripe credit card payments, including those from Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express (fees apply).
- App sends deposits to your bank account within 1 to 2 business days, or enjoy instant deposits (fees apply).
WPForms says the add-on requires a Pro license or higher. It does not charge a Square-specific processing fee, but Square seller fees still apply; consult Square’s current pricing for live rates. WPForms recommends testing a payment before launch. Use its test mode before taking real payments and confirm that the current plan and recurring-payment setup fit your use case.
Gravity Forms Square: for configurable forms and payment workflows
The Gravity Forms integration page says the Square add-on is included with Pro, Elite, and Nonprofit licenses. Its setup documentation describes one-time payments, recurring subscriptions, authorizations with delayed capture, and refunds.
Best Value
- With Square Handheld, you can accept payments, take tableside orders, or scan barcodes anywhere. With a slim design and comfortable grip, the POS is easy to carry in your palm or pocket. Square Handheld is designed to withstand water splashes and dust. Add an optional protective case for accidental drops. A long-lasting battery and offline payments let you keep selling.
- Slim, pocketable, and lightweight so you can accept payments wherever your customers are.
- Take tableside orders, bust lines, or use the built-in barcode scanner, all with one sleek device.
- A battery that can power through your shift and offline payments let you keep selling, even if your internet is down.
- Accept all major credit and debit cards and pay one simple rate with no hidden fees and no long-term contracts required.
A compatible form needs pricing and Square fields, along with name, email, and address fields. The Square account currency must match the currency selected in Gravity Forms. This route is most relevant if you already use Gravity Forms and need those form workflows; check current license terms and the setup guide before choosing it.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to verify before connecting Square
- Country and currency: Confirm Square is supported for your merchant country and that your account and store or form currencies meet the integration’s requirements.
- Transaction model: Decide whether you need a WooCommerce cart and catalog, a Square-hosted checkout, or a form submission. A payment-form add-on does not provide WooCommerce-style inventory synchronization.
- Sync behavior: For WooCommerce sync plugins, establish which system controls product and stock data, how conflicts are handled, and whether customer or order synchronization is paid.
- Recurring payments: Confirm subscription support and exclusions for the exact payment method and product type you use.
- Licensing and fees: Check live plugin or form-builder plan terms and Square’s current seller fees. Those details can change.
- Versions and testing: Check current compatibility documentation, then test the connection and a payment in a staging or test environment before taking live orders.
Is GiveWP a confirmed Square option?
GiveWP’s WordPress.org listing describes a donation and fundraising plugin and names Square among gateway integrations. That listing alone does not establish whether a specific Square add-on is currently available and maintained, what license it requires, or whether it supports recurring donations. Nonprofits should verify those details directly before treating GiveWP as a current Square integration choice.
Why this guide does not name seven confirmed plugins
The available documentation supports five clearly identifiable Square integration products: WooCommerce Square, WC Shop Sync, Connect Square Payments, WPForms Square, and Gravity Forms Square. GiveWP is a possible donation route, but its current Square add-on status is not established here. There is not enough documented evidence to recommend another distinct, current integration responsibly, so this guide does not invent a seventh pick to match the original count.
