007 First Light launched worldwide on May 27, 2026. If you want more Bond-style espionage before replaying it, or another stealth game after finishing it, start with HITMAN World of Assassination. It is the closest match for disguises, social stealth, elaborate plans, globe-trotting spy locations and missions worth replaying. Choose Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain for open-world infiltration, Splinter Cell Blacklist for classic covert-agent operations, or Dishonored Definitive Edition for supernatural powers and assassination routes shaped by your choices.
What changed about the “waiting for First Light” premise?
IO Interactive’s 007 First Light is no longer an upcoming release. It launched worldwide on May 27, 2026. The game presents a young James Bond in an origin story and uses a third-person action-adventure structure that blends stealth and action gameplay.
That makes this list useful in three situations: you want a similar experience before starting First Light, you have finished it and want another spy game, or you are deciding which stealth style best matches Bond’s particular fantasy. None of the four recommendations is identical to First Light. 2. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain: best for open-world infiltration
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the stronger recommendation when your preferred Bond moment is not a crowded gala but a long approach across hostile territory. Konami describes open-world environments, realistic weather, dynamic day-and-night cycles, expanded close-quarters combat and improved enemy AI. Those systems make infiltration feel like a field operation rather than a self-contained puzzle room.

3. Splinter Cell Blacklist: best classic covert-agent choice
Splinter Cell Blacklist is the clearest choice for readers who want the traditional secret-agent role: Sam Fisher, elite covert missions, cinematic stealth action and specialized equipment. Ubisoft describes the series around Fisher’s work as an elite covert agent in the NSA’s Third Echelon, while the Blacklist description emphasizes a stealth-action thriller moving through exotic locations.

Its cinematic presentation also makes it the natural pick for someone who wants the “secret agent thriller” feeling first and a systemic experimentation toy second.
Signature equipment and stealth role-play
The sticky shocker is one of the signature pieces of equipment associated with the game. Bethesda describes a game in which each assassination can be approached in your own style, with powers such as teleportation, possession and time stopping available for stealth approaches. It is not realistic espionage, but it is one of the strongest choices for readers who value creative routes and consequences more than a plausible gadget kit.

The levels are built around choice. You can search for a safer route, use a power to bypass a problem, manipulate a guard or attempt a more direct approach. The important decision is not only whether you remain unseen; it is what kind of operative you choose to be and how much disruption you are willing to cause.
That makes the game useful after a social-stealth title. HITMAN asks you to understand a location’s social rules. Dishonored asks you to understand the physical space and then bend it with abilities that change how movement, timing and access work. The two games reward experimentation, but their fantasies are deliberately different.
Who should pick it
- Players who want powers: teleportation, possession and time stopping create solutions conventional spy equipment cannot provide.
- Players who want multiple routes: an assassination can be approached through different paths and methods.
- Players who want nonlethal experimentation: you can test ways to complete objectives without treating every encounter as a fight.

Pick Dishonored Definitive Edition when “stealth” means creativity, vertical movement and consequences rather than realistic spy tradecraft. Choose a classic covert operative
Choose Splinter Cell Blacklist. Sam Fisher and the game’s cinematic stealth-action structure provide the most direct traditional secret-agent role-play, especially if you prefer focused missions to open-ended sandboxes.
Choose supernatural abilities and reactive routes
Choose Dishonored Definitive Edition. It is the best option when you want to teleport, possess targets or stop time while finding your own way through an assassination scenario.
