Add the video as an OBS Media Source and enable Loop. For a repeating sequence of property tours, use OBS’s VLC Video source and enable Loop Playlist. Both approaches send a prepared video through YouTube’s encoder workflow; neither requires a camera or capture card.
Choose software by the kind of broadcast you need
| Need | Best-supported option | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Repeat one property video continuously | OBS Studio | A Media Source plays a local file and its Loop control repeats it when playback finishes. OBS Media Sources documentation. |
| Repeat several property videos as a playlist | OBS Studio with VLC Video source | Plays a playlist and can loop the playlist. VLC must be installed for this source to appear in OBS. OBS Media Sources documentation. |
| Schedule one prerecorded video to play once, unattended | StreamYard prerecorded streaming | Its documented workflow starts at the selected time and ends when the video finishes. It is not documented as a continuous repeat-until-stopped loop. StreamYard prerecorded streams help. |
| Show a host, switch cameras, or add live production | OBS Studio or another encoder | YouTube identifies encoders as an option for screen sharing, external audio/video hardware, and more advanced productions. YouTube encoder guide. |
The key distinction is continuous looping versus a scheduled, single play. For a continuously repeating property tour, OBS has the directly documented loop controls.
Set up a continuous loop in OBS Studio
- Confirm YouTube Live eligibility first. The channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube says live streaming is for users aged 16 or older, and the content must comply with its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. First-time live-stream activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it before the planned broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and restrictions and encoder setup guidance.
- Create a scene and add the video. In OBS, add a Media Source and select the local property-tour file. Enable Loop in that source’s settings. OBS documents Media Sources for local video files and the Loop option for replaying a file after it completes. A webcam or capture card is not needed for this file-based setup. See OBS Media Sources and OBS Video Capture Sources.
- For multiple tours, configure a playlist instead. Install VLC so the VLC Video source is available in OBS, add the source, select the playlist files, and enable Loop Playlist. This repeats the playlist rather than just a single file. See OBS Media Sources documentation.
- Create or select the YouTube stream and connect OBS. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or select the stream, then follow YouTube’s encoder workflow to connect using the server details and stream key. Treat the stream key like an account credential: do not publish it or share it with people who should not control the broadcast. YouTube’s encoder guide explains the connection workflow.
- Set output quality to match your connection. Choose resolution, frame rate, and bitrate that your upload connection can sustain. YouTube recommends RTMPS and publishes bitrate ranges by codec and resolution in its live encoder settings. Use that page for the relevant codec and output rather than assuming one bitrate fits every setup.
- Test before the public broadcast. Send a test with similar movement and audio to the planned tour, then check YouTube’s stream health while it is running. YouTube recommends testing with representative audio and motion and monitoring stream health; its encoder settings guidance covers quality and connection settings.
Check the footage and listing details before going live
Confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed for every element you broadcast. That can include the property footage, music, still images, logos, and people shown. Also review the address, contact details, pricing, and property claims in the video for accuracy and for information you are allowed to publish. Whether a particular tour is cleared for broadcast depends on the content and your agreements; the software documentation cannot establish those rights.
A prepared video can keep repeating technically even when its content is stale. If availability, price, or listing details change, replace or update the file and check the stream again. Follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service for the broadcast.

When StreamYard is a better fit
Choose StreamYard’s prerecorded workflow when you want one uploaded video to start automatically at a scheduled time and play once to its end. Its help documentation says the broadcast starts at the selected time and ends when the video finishes, so it does not establish a continuous looping feature. The same documentation notes that overlays and other media assets cannot be controlled during that automatic broadcast, and lists upload size, bitrate, resolution, and duration limits by plan; check its current plan details before preparing a file.
For StreamYard’s general connection guidance, its help center recommends a consistent connection, Ethernet when possible, and at least 5 Mbps upload and download. That is StreamYard’s recommendation, not a YouTube bitrate requirement. See StreamYard system requirements.

Troubleshoot the most common problems
- The stream will not start: Check that live streaming is enabled for the channel, that the channel is verified, and that there is no restriction from the preceding 90 days. If this is the channel’s first activation, allow up to 24 hours. Review the YouTube eligibility information.
- The video plays once and stops: Reopen the OBS Media Source settings and confirm Loop is enabled. For a playlist, make sure the source is VLC Video and Loop Playlist is selected; VLC must be installed. See OBS’s source documentation.
- The OBS playlist source is missing: Install VLC, then reopen or refresh OBS’s source options. OBS documents VLC as a prerequisite for the VLC Video source in its Media Sources guide.
- YouTube reports poor stream health or viewers see interruptions: Reduce output demands to settings your upload can sustain, verify the encoder settings against YouTube’s published ranges, and test with representative motion and audio. Monitor stream health during the broadcast. See YouTube live encoder settings.
- The stream connects but shows the wrong content: Check that the correct scene and Media Source are active, that the selected file is the intended final version, and that the source is visible in the scene. Verify the video and audio in a test before making the broadcast public.
- The scheduled StreamYard video does not match a looping need: Its documented prerecorded workflow runs from the scheduled start until the video ends. Use OBS’s loop control if the goal is continuous repetition. See StreamYard’s prerecorded-stream description.
