The best shipping software depends on where you sell, which countries you ship to, and whether you need checkout rates, post-order rate shopping, batch labels, or more automation. For a Shopify-only store with straightforward domestic parcels, start with Shopify Shipping. For multiple sales channels, compare ShipStation and Shippo; for international shipping and duties, consider Easyship. The options below are not a tested ranking: the available evidence does not establish a universal winner or independently benchmark savings.

Features and plan details in this table reflect Shopify’s guide published September 2, 2026, or vendor pages accessed October 4, 2026, as noted. Pricing, limits, and coverage can change.
| Option | Best fit | Supported capabilities | Plan and price information |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shopify Shipping | Shopify stores with straightforward shipping needs | Bulk label buying and printing, pickups, shipment status, global shipping options, and insurance for high-value packages | Described by Shopify as included with every Shopify account; no separate price stated in its September 2, 2026 guide |
| ShipStation | Businesses coordinating orders across stores and marketplaces or needing broader fulfillment workflows | Rate comparison, labels, batch and routing automation, tracking, returns, international shipping, inventory and warehouse management, and LTL freight | Homepage advertises a 30-day free trial; subscription prices not stated in the cited pages |
| Shippo | Small and growing multichannel businesses seeking carrier choices and bulk labels | Automatic order import, rate comparison, labels, bulk printing, tracking, and branded tracking notifications | Shopify’s 2026 guide lists a free plan and Shippo Pro at $205 per year; confirm current terms with Shippo |
| Easyship | Merchants prioritizing international carrier comparisons and duty calculations | Courier comparison and selection, discounted rates, automation, tracking, and import tax and duty calculation | Shopify’s 2026 guide lists a free plan for up to 50 monthly shipments and paid plans starting at $29 per month, described with a 500-plus monthly shipment allowance |
The cited material identifies four named options with enough shipping-specific detail for profiles and comparison. It does not establish seven suitable products with comparable facts, so this guide does not pad the list with unsupported entries. Shopify’s suggestions of AfterShip, Pirate Ship, Route, and Outvio are discussed below as focused alternatives, not ranked full-platform comparisons.
How to choose shipping software
1. Map your selling channels and order flow
List every storefront and marketplace you use, such as Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Amazon, Etsy, Walmart, or eBay. Confirm that the software connects to each one and determine how orders import, update, and reconcile after fulfillment. A broad integration count is less useful than successful synchronization with your actual channels. ShipStation says it connects to Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Squarespace, Wix, Adobe Commerce, and marketplaces including Amazon, Etsy, Walmart, and eBay.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
2. Define the shipping task you need to solve
“Rate comparison” can mean comparing carrier prices after an order is placed, showing live rates at checkout, or automatically choosing a service under rules you set. These are different workflows. Also specify whether you need one-at-a-time labels, batch printing, pickups, routing rules, exception handling, customer tracking notices, or returns. Do not assume that a tool that buys labels also displays live checkout rates.
3. Match carrier and international coverage to your routes
Write down your shipment origins, destinations, package types, and carrier preferences. For cross-border orders, check availability for each origin-destination pair, the courier service levels offered, customs documentation, duty and tax calculation, and tracking continuity. A headline carrier total does not prove that a service supports a particular route.
4. Calculate total cost at your real volume
Compare the subscription, label charges, carrier rates, any carrier accounts you bring, and the labor involved in processing orders. Published discounts and starting prices do not establish your realized shipping cost or savings. Use representative shipments from your own destinations and package sizes to compare total checkout or fulfillment costs.
5. Test representative orders before committing
Run a small set of real-world cases through each finalist: a routine domestic parcel, a multi-item order, an international shipment if relevant, and an order that needs correction or cancellation. Check whether the order imports correctly, the intended service appears, the label prints at the expected size, tracking returns to the store, and customer notifications behave as required.

Shipping software options
1. Shopify Shipping: a starting point for Shopify-only stores
Shopify’s September 2, 2026 guide describes Shopify Shipping as a native all-in-one shipping solution included with every Shopify account. It supports buying and printing labels in bulk, scheduling pickups, checking shipment statuses, global shipping options, and insurance for high-value packages. For a store that sells only through Shopify and handles ordinary domestic parcels, these built-in workflows may cover the core label and tracking job without adding another shipping app.
The important limit is scope: the guide describes Shopify Shipping in the context of Shopify. A merchant selling through several storefronts or marketplaces may need an additional tool to consolidate orders or coordinate fulfillment across channels. Shopify’s guide recommends considering App Store options when a specific need is not covered.
2. ShipStation: broader order and fulfillment operations
ShipStation presents itself as a unified fulfillment platform. Its platform page lists rate comparison, label purchase and printing, batch processing, routing automation, order management, inventory and warehouse management, returns, tracking, international shipping, and LTL freight. It describes integrations with Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Squarespace, Wix, and Adobe Commerce, plus marketplaces including Amazon, Etsy, Walmart, and eBay.
ShipStation’s homepage, accessed October 4, 2026, advertises 400-plus integrations, including 200-plus global parcel carriers and 50-plus LTL carriers, as well as automated rate shopping across 200-plus parcel carriers. These are vendor-stated counts, not a route-by-route guarantee. The homepage also advertises a 30-day free trial. The cited pages do not state subscription prices, so price comparisons require current plan information from ShipStation.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
ShipStation is a plausible shortlist candidate when multiple channels, batch workflows, routing, warehouse needs, returns, or freight make fulfillment more complex. Its breadth may be unnecessary for a Shopify-only seller whose built-in workflow is sufficient. The platform page also lists optional fulfillment supplies, including printers, scales, boxes, and labels; no particular printer model or compatibility has been validated here.
3. Shippo: multichannel shipping for small and growing businesses
Shopify’s September 2, 2026 guide describes Shippo as a service for small and growing businesses that automatically imports orders across sales channels. It says Shippo works with more than 40 global carriers and supports rate comparison, label creation, bulk printing, real-time tracking, and branded tracking notifications.
The guide lists a free plan with discounted UPS, USPS, FedEx, and DHL Express shipping, unlimited store connections, international shipping, and tracking. It lists Shippo Pro at $205 per year, with additional features including AI delivery estimates, connection of a merchant’s own carrier account, and branded tracking pages. These are guide-reported plan details, not a guarantee that the same terms remain available; check Shippo’s current billing and limits before purchase.
Shippo merits consideration when automatic order imports, more than one sales channel, bulk labels, and customer-facing tracking are central requirements. The cited guide does not provide a comparable subscription price for every plan or establish savings against a merchant’s existing carrier mix.

4. Easyship: international carrier comparison and duties
Shopify’s 2026 guide describes Easyship as a cloud shipping app that compares more than 550 international carriers and can automatically select the cheapest or fastest courier for a shipment. It lists a free plan for up to 50 monthly shipments, with discounted rates, courier selection, and import tax and duty calculation. Paid plans are listed as starting at $29 per month, with a 500-plus monthly shipment allowance described by the guide.
Easyship’s own page describes app and API support for discounted rates, courier comparison, workflow automation, and tracking. It also lists branded notification emails, tracking pages, and packing slips. The company discusses a fulfillment warehouse network, but that description is not independent evidence of performance or suitability for a particular seller.
Easyship is a natural candidate when international rate comparisons and duty calculations are important. The carrier count does not establish that every courier serves every route; check your actual origins, destinations, and service levels. The prices and shipment limits above are source-dated guide details and may change.

- Pirate Ship: Shopify suggests it for buying and printing discounted labels. The cited guide does not establish a broader multichannel fulfillment or international duty feature set.
- Route: Shopify lists it for post-purchase operations and returns. The guide does not provide plan pricing or detailed shipping workflow specifications.
- Outvio: Shopify lists it for post-purchase operations and returns. The cited guide does not provide plan pricing or enough detail to compare carrier coverage or label workflows.
Questions to answer in a software trial or demo
- Integration: Does the connector import all required order fields, and do shipment status and tracking sync back to the correct order?
- Rates: Are rates available at checkout, after purchase, or both? Which carriers and service levels appear for your common package sizes and routes?
- Automation: Can rules assign services or route orders based on destination, weight, SKU, or other fields your workflow uses?
- International: Does the tool support the exact routes you sell to, and how are customs forms, taxes, duties, and tracking handled?
- Returns and exceptions: Can staff handle a corrected address, voided label, returned parcel, or split shipment without losing order history?
- Operations: Do you need multiple warehouses, inventory workflows, API access, LTL freight, or reporting? ShipStation lists several of these capabilities, but the right plan and configuration are not specified in the cited material.
- Printing: If you print labels frequently, a thermal shipping label printer may be useful. Confirm computer and operating-system compatibility, label dimensions, carrier requirements, and expected volume before choosing hardware; no specific model has been validated here.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best shipping software for a Shopify store?
For a Shopify-only store with straightforward needs, Shopify Shipping is the most direct place to start because Shopify says it is included with every account and supports bulk labels, pickups, status checks, and global shipping options. A separate app is more relevant when a specific workflow—such as cross-channel order consolidation or a specialized international process—is missing.
Does shipping software show live rates at checkout?
Not necessarily. Rate shopping for a fulfillment label after an order is placed is distinct from displaying live carrier rates during checkout. Confirm explicitly which workflow a product supports and whether it works with your store configuration.
Which option is suited to international shipping?
Easyship is the clearest fit in the cited product descriptions for international courier comparison and import tax and duty calculation. ShipStation also lists international shipping. In either case, compare support for your specific shipment routes, customs requirements, and carrier services rather than relying only on a total carrier count.
Is a free plan enough for a small store?
It depends on the shipment volume, channels, and features needed. Shopify’s 2026 guide lists free plans for Shippo and Easyship; Easyship’s listed allowance is up to 50 monthly shipments. Shopify Shipping is described as included with Shopify accounts. Check current terms and test the store’s actual order flow before relying on a plan.
Does a shipping discount guarantee lower total cost?
No. A discount claim does not establish the total cost for a merchant’s package sizes, routes, carrier mix, software subscription, and labor. Compare representative shipments and include recurring software charges and any carrier-account requirements.
