The closest match to Foundation’s space politics, competing factions, and sweeping consequences is The Expanse. If you want to stay with Apple TV+ instead, choose Silo for a closed-society mystery, Severance for an identity puzzle, or For All Mankind for alternate-history space exploration. The best next series depends on which part of Foundation you want more of: these shows share science-fiction ideas, not the same setting or tone.

If you want… Watch Why it may fit What is different
Solar-system politics and alien technology The Expanse TVLine describes a conflict involving Earth and human colonies, with alien technology altering humanity’s future. Its broad political struggle is balanced by an ensemble perspective. It is a solar-system story rather than a galactic-empire saga. Its current streaming service and regional availability have not been verified here. TVLine
A hidden past, power struggles, and one enclosed society Silo Apple lists it in its US science-fiction collection. TheWrap describes a woman questioning the accepted account of an underground silo and the political maneuvering around its concealed truths. It focuses on one confined community, not competing worlds across space. Apple TV+ US sci-fi collection TheWrap
A cerebral mystery about identity Severance TheWrap describes workers whose work selves are separated from their outside selves, raising questions about personhood and free will. It is a workplace mystery rather than a space opera. TheWrap
Space exploration shaped by political and social change For All Mankind The series imagines the Soviet Union reaching the Moon first, then follows the consequences across decades. Apple characterizes it as a “what if” take on the space race. It starts from recognizable history rather than a far-future empire. TheWrap Apple TV+ US sci-fi collection
Parallel realities and personal suspense Dark Matter TheWrap describes a man displaced from his life by another version of himself; Apple lists the series as a thriller in its US science-fiction collection. Its engine is multiverse suspense, not empire-scale world-building. TheWrap Apple TV+ US sci-fi collection
Resistance under imperial rule in a familiar space-fantasy setting Andor TVLine describes Cassian Andor’s path toward rebellion and the everyday conditions of life under the Empire. It belongs to Star Wars, so franchise context may matter if you are new to that universe. Current streaming service and regional availability have not been verified here. TVLine

Best match for Foundation’s political scale: The Expanse

If what you want is conflict among powerful groups and the long-term consequences of political decisions, start with The Expanse. Its setting is more grounded and geographically compact than Foundation’s galactic empire: the central tensions play out across Earth, its colonies, and the solar system. Alien technology expands the stakes, while the ensemble keeps the story connected to individual lives. TVLine’s description supports the premise comparison, but does not establish where the series currently streams or whether it is available in your region. TVLine

Best Apple TV+ choices for mystery, identity, or exploration

Pick Silo for a society built around a secret

Silo trades interstellar politics for a single underground community. Its appeal is the clash between public explanations, hidden answers, and power over what residents are allowed to know. Choose it if you want the intrigue and pressure of a society under strain more than the scale of space travel. Apple’s US sci-fi collection lists the series, and TheWrap describes its central mystery.

Pick Severance for an identity-centered puzzle

Severance makes the self its speculative premise: employees’ work selves and outside selves are kept apart, creating a mystery about identity and free will. It is the most workplace-centered choice here, not a substitute for a galactic saga. Apple’s US sci-fi collection lists it; TheWrap outlines its premise.

Pick For All Mankind for a different kind of space race

For All Mankind begins with an alternate-history premise—the Soviet Union gets to the Moon first—and follows the political and social effects over decades. It shares Foundation’s interest in how large historical forces shape people, but begins in a familiar version of history rather than a distant future. Apple’s US collection calls it a “what if” take on the space race. Apple TV+ US sci-fi collection TheWrap

Pick Dark Matter for a personal multiverse thriller

Dark Matter centers on a man whose life is disrupted by another version of himself. That makes it a more intimate route into speculative science fiction: its hook is parallel realities and personal suspense, not factions governing an empire. Apple includes it as a thriller in its US science-fiction collection. Apple TV+ US sci-fi collection TheWrap

What to know about Apple TV+ availability

Apple’s US science-fiction collection lists Foundation, Silo, Severance, For All Mankind, and Dark Matter, as well as Pluribus, Invasion, and See. That confirms listings on the US storefront, not identical catalogs in every country; titles and rights can change. Check the catalog for your region before planning a watch. The Expanse and Andor are broader recommendations, but their current services and local availability are not established by the cited sources. Check your region’s streaming listings rather than assuming a particular platform. TVLine

Where Foundation stands now

Apple describes Foundation as an adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s novels, following exiles who aim to save humanity and rebuild civilization as the Galactic Empire falls. Apple’s season-three page gives July 11, 2025 as the season’s release date. Its current US catalog says another season is coming but does not give a future release date, so no later date should be assumed. Apple’s Foundation press page Apple TV+ US sci-fi collection

If the adaptation has made you curious about its source, Asimov’s Foundation novels are an optional companion; reading them is not necessary before starting any of these shows. Apple’s Foundation press page
