How to choose an Active2 replacement
Decide what you want to preserve—or change—before comparing models. A broad smartwatch experience means apps and connected services; a fitness-first watch puts more emphasis on activity and training; a hybrid watch trades a full smartwatch interface for a more traditional appearance.

Amazfit Active 2: a value-focused candidate
Tom’s Guide describes the Amazfit Active 2 as a strong budget smartwatch for Android or iOS. Because prices and included features can vary by listing and market, verify both the current price and the specific functions you want rather than assuming it offers feature parity with Wear OS.
Withings ScanWatch Light: hybrid design
If you prefer a more traditional watch appearance, consider the Withings ScanWatch Light. Wareable includes it among Android alternatives with that design emphasis. Its hybrid approach makes it a different category from a full smartwatch with a broad app catalog.

Check phone compatibility before you buy
Android compatibility is not one universal threshold for every watch. Samsung’s US support page, for example, lists Galaxy Watch Active2 support with Samsung Android phones running Android 5.0 or later and at least 1.5 GB of RAM, and with non-Samsung Android phones running Android 6.0 or later and at least 1.5 GB of RAM. Those figures apply to the Active2 in Samsung’s US guidance, not automatically to replacement models.
Samsung lists different requirements for newer watches on the same page. Its US non-Samsung phone requirements include Android 11 or later for Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra, Android 10 or later for Galaxy Watch FE, Android 8 or later and at least 1.5 GB of RAM for Watch6, and Android 6 or later and at least 1.5 GB of RAM for Watch4. Requirements and feature access can vary by region, operator, and phone brand, so confirm the exact model on Samsung’s live support page.

For a Wear OS watch, check the phone requirement for that particular model and the manufacturer’s support commitment. Google says update eligibility depends on the manufacturer and device; its Wear OS update guidance explains how to check and install updates on a watch. Do not infer a long update window from the operating system alone.

Google’s 2026 Wear OS 7 announcement describes Android Live Updates on the wrist and controls for connected devices. Google says system optimizations improve battery life “by up to 10%”; that is Google’s platform claim, not a measured or guaranteed improvement for every watch or use pattern. The announcement says Wear OS 7 is rolling out to eligible Pixel Watch devices; it does not establish that every watch in this comparison receives the update. Confirm eligibility for the exact model with its manufacturer.
