For a simple, single-source YouTube stream that needs desktop software such as OBS, shortlist an Intel N100 mini PC—but treat it as a candidate, not a proven 24/7 streaming appliance. No particular N100 model is established here as capable of uninterrupted multi-day streaming. The right choice depends on whether you are looping a prepared video, capturing a camera feed, or building an OBS scene with overlays; each places different demands on the machine.
Choose by the stream you need to run
A Raspberry Pi alternative is not a useful choice until you define the workload. Playing a prepared file is different from capturing a live source, and both differ from compositing several sources and graphics in OBS.
- Prepared video loop: playback and a stable YouTube connection are central. If you only need uploaded videos looped as a 24/7 YouTube stream, a cloud service may avoid leaving a computer running at home.
- One camera or other live source: check how the source connects and whether your chosen software and operating system support it. An HDMI capture card is relevant only if you need to ingest an HDMI source.
- OBS scenes: list the number of sources, overlays, output resolution, and frame rate before choosing hardware. More compositing work may justify a higher-headroom x86 mini PC, but specifications alone do not prove sustained streaming capability.
Why an Intel N100 mini PC is a candidate
An Intel N100 mini PC is a plausible category to shortlist for a straightforward, single-source stream that benefits from ordinary desktop software. The India-focused guide supporting this category cites Quick Sync as a reason to consider hardware encoding, but it does not validate any specific computer in a multi-day OBS run. A processor’s encoder support is only one part of the chain: the exact PC, operating system, OBS configuration, cooling, and recovery behavior matter too. The cited India-focused guide is a category-level reference, not a long-duration test report.
For complex OBS scenes, first define the camera count, overlays, resolution, and frame rate, then investigate a higher-headroom x86 mini PC. A Core Ultra 5 mini-PC candidate also appears in the cited guide, but that is specification-based evidence, not proof of successful 24/7 streaming. Broad alternatives roundups mention Orange Pi and NVIDIA Jetson boards; the available evidence does not establish either as a simpler or better-supported YouTube/OBS choice for this job.

Check YouTube’s ingest settings before buying
YouTube’s current live encoder guidance supports RTMP/RTMPS ingest and lists H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 video, up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR), and a recommended two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds. The right bitrate depends on codec, frame rate, and resolution, so do not apply one setting to every format. For H.264 at 1080p30 specifically, YouTube recommends 14 Mbps and lists 5 Mbps as its minimum. See YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for the relevant format’s row.
These are ingest targets, not a guarantee that a particular computer can encode continuously. YouTube advises, “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.” Test the exact PC, source, OBS scene, and output settings you intend to use, then monitor stream health while live.

Network, power, and recovery are part of the setup
Leave upload headroom
YouTube recommends leaving about 20% spare upload bandwidth. That matters because the connection has to sustain the outgoing stream; YouTube warns that a connectivity disruption could break a stream. Prefer wired networking where practical, and test a backup connection if interruption is costly. The backup is a resilience measure, not a guarantee. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
Plan for power interruptions
A UPS can keep the computer and router powered through a short outage, but size it for the full connected load and the runtime you need. Do not use a processor’s stated power rating as a substitute for measuring the complete system’s wall power.

Verify restart and recovery
Check what happens after a power loss, operating-system restart, application crash, or dropped YouTube connection. Confirm that the machine starts unattended if needed and that your streaming workflow can resume. The available evidence does not establish model-specific recovery behavior or multi-day reliability.
