If you want extra rear inputs on PlayStation 5, choose according to the feature you refuse to give up. The Sony DualSense Edge is the safest option for native PS5 integration, with saved profiles, adjustable stick and trigger settings, and replaceable stick modules; it has two configurable rear controls. The Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded is the most flexible modular alternative, while the Razer Raiju V3 Pro and Nacon Revolution 5 Pro each target competitive players who want four rear inputs and advanced stick hardware. The SCUF Reflex Pro is the closest fit for players who prefer a familiar PlayStation-shaped controller with four paddles.
There is an important trade-off: third-party models generally do not reproduce the DualSense package of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. The model-by-model notes below put that limitation beside each recommendation so you can weigh faster remapping against PS5-native effects.
Quick picks
| Controller | Rear controls | Best for | PS5 haptic feedback and adaptive triggers | Stick technology | Distinctive feature |

What matters when replacing a DualSense Edge
Rear-button quantity is not the whole story
Two rear controls can cover the actions you use most often, such as jump and crouch, without changing your grip. Four controls allow more actions to stay on your fingers, but they also increase the chance of accidental presses and may require a different hand position. Paddles sit under the middle and ring fingers, whereas small buttons are usually reached by curling a finger toward the controller shell. Neither layout is universally better: the right choice depends on whether you value leverage, low activation force or a compact profile.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Native PS5 effects versus configurable hardware
The DualSense Edge is the only option in this group explicitly positioned around native PlayStation features. Sony describes it as offering “customizable controls and swappable profiles” for uses ranging from pro-level tournaments to single-player games. Saved profiles let you keep separate mappings, while adjustable stick and trigger settings let you tune response without buying another controller. Its compromise is the smaller number of rear inputs.
Coverage of the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded, Razer Raiju V3 Pro and Nacon Revolution 5 Pro reports that they omit some or all of the DualSense haptic-feedback and adaptive-trigger experience. That can matter in games that communicate weapon resistance, surfaces or impacts through the triggers. If those effects are central to your library, keep a standard DualSense available even if you buy a four-button controller.
Stick technology and why the labels differ
Hall-effect sticks measure position magnetically and are commonly selected to reduce physical contact at the sensing element. TMR, used by the Razer Raiju V3 Pro according to review coverage, is another magnetic sensing approach. These labels describe the sensing technology, not a guarantee of a particular lifespan, feel or calibration. No independent durability or failure-rate statistic has been established for the models in this comparison, so do not treat the technology name as proof that drift is impossible.
Sony DualSense Edge: safest for a PS5-first setup
What you get
The DualSense Edge is the conservative choice when your priority is that the controller behave like a first-party PS5 accessory. It supports saved profiles, adjustable stick and trigger settings, and replaceable stick modules. Those features address two common reasons to move beyond a standard DualSense: you can switch mappings between games and replace a worn stick module instead of replacing the entire controller.
Where it falls short
There are two configurable rear controls, not four. That is enough for a focused layout but less suitable if you want to move many actions off the face buttons. Players who specifically asked for four paddles or four back buttons should start with one of the third-party alternatives rather than expecting the Edge to match that arrangement.

Best use cases
- Competitive and single-player players who want PS5-native behavior and per-game profiles.
- Owners who value adjustable trigger or stick response and a replaceable stick module.
- Households that want one controller whose features are documented and supported directly by Sony.
Choose the Edge when native haptics, adaptive triggers and system-level integration matter more than maximum rear-input count.
Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded: the modular alternative
Why its layout is different
The Pro BFG Reloaded is built around interchangeable modules rather than a fixed face-button arrangement. Coverage describes four remappable rear buttons, adjustable trigger stops and Hall-effect components. Its interchangeable parts include a six-button fightpad, so the same controller can be configured for a conventional layout or for fighting games that benefit from closely grouped face buttons.
Recommended Free Tools
Who should buy it
This is the strongest fit for players whose games change the physical layout they prefer. A fighting-game player may want the six-button module, while a shooter player may prefer the regular arrangement and short trigger travel. The modular approach also makes the controller more adaptable than a paddle-only design when your preferences change.
Trade-offs to understand
Reviews report that the Pro BFG Reloaded omits DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. You gain layout flexibility and four remappable rear inputs, but PS5 games that use trigger resistance or detailed vibration will not provide the same effect as they do on a DualSense. The available coverage does not establish a universal price, warranty, wireless-battery figure or regional stock position, so verify those details for the exact Reloaded package.
Razer Raiju V3 Pro: four removable buttons with TMR sticks
Competitive-control focus
The Raiju V3 Pro targets players who want four customizable rear inputs and a stick technology associated with magnetic sensing. Review coverage identifies TMR thumbsticks and removable back buttons, allowing you to change the rear-button arrangement rather than accepting a permanently fixed shell. It is reported as compatible with PS5 and Windows, which is useful if one controller must serve both platforms.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
When it makes sense
- You want four rear actions but prefer buttons that can be removed or repositioned over fixed paddles.
- You switch between PS5 and Windows and want one documented controller for both.
- You prioritize stick hardware and competitive response over DualSense effects.
Feature compromise
The Raiju V3 Pro does not provide DualSense haptic feedback or adaptive triggers. Keep that limitation in mind for games whose feedback is designed around Sony’s actuating triggers. Review coverage does not establish independent drift, durability or satisfaction statistics, so TMR should be treated as a design characteristic rather than a guaranteed service life.
Nacon Revolution 5 Pro: extensive configuration with a wake-up caveat
Hardware and controls
The Revolution 5 Pro combines four remappable back buttons with Hall-effect sticks and extensive configuration options. It is aimed at players who want to tune mappings and stick behavior in detail while keeping a generous number of rear inputs available.
PS5 startup requirement
Support coverage states that a Sony DualSense controller is required to wake a PS5 or PS4. Plan for that extra step: keep a DualSense charged and nearby, especially if the Nacon is the only controller you intend to use day to day. This requirement is separate from in-game remapping and can be easy to overlook when comparing button counts.
What you give up
The Revolution 5 Pro does not reproduce the full DualSense haptic-feedback and adaptive-trigger package. It therefore suits players who value configuration and Hall-effect sticks more than Sony’s game-specific effects. Confirm the current software, firmware support, warranty and regional availability before purchase because those details are not stated uniformly in comparison coverage.
SCUF Reflex Pro: familiar shape with four paddles
Why the shape matters
The Reflex Pro uses a shape close to the standard PlayStation controller and provides four reprogrammable rear paddles. That familiar geometry can reduce the adjustment period for someone moving from a regular DualSense, while the paddles move selected actions away from the face buttons.

Model-by-model verification is essential
SCUF offers variants with different components. Some newer variants are described as having Hall-effect sticks, but you should verify the exact model configuration rather than assuming every Reflex Pro includes them. The available specification does not establish whether a particular Reflex Pro variant reproduces DualSense haptics or adaptive triggers; check the current listing for that SKU.
Best fit
Choose the Reflex Pro if four paddles and a conventional PlayStation-style shell are more important to you than modular face-button layouts. If you play fighting games and need a six-button face arrangement, the Victrix’s interchangeable fightpad is the more direct match.

How to set up remapping without creating a bad layout
1. List actions by frequency
Write down the actions you press most during a match or encounter. Put movement-adjacent actions first, then actions that require camera control, and leave rarely used commands on the face buttons. A rear control is most valuable when moving your thumb away from the stick would cost you time.
2. Start with one profile
Create a baseline mapping before experimenting. Use the controller’s documented profile method, whether that is a system menu, an onboard shortcut or companion software. Save the profile with a clear game or genre name so you can identify it later. The Edge explicitly supports saved profiles; for other controllers, confirm how many profiles can be stored and whether they are retained when the controller moves between systems.

- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
4. Tune triggers and sticks separately
Trigger-stop settings and stick response can solve different problems. A short trigger stop may help a digital fire action but can be unsuitable for a game that expects a full analogue range. Likewise, a Hall-effect or TMR stick still needs a response curve and dead-zone setting that feels right to you. Change one setting at a time and record what you changed.
5. Check accidental presses
Hold the controller as you would during a long session and move both sticks through their full range. If a ring finger repeatedly touches a paddle or rear button, move that action or remove the button where the design allows it. A theoretically faster control is not useful if it triggers unintentionally.
6. Keep a recovery profile
Save a neutral profile that restores the manufacturer’s default mapping. If a game behaves unexpectedly or a profile is overwritten, you can return to a known state without guessing which command changed. Keep a standard DualSense available when testing a third-party controller, particularly for the Nacon wake requirement and for games that depend on DualSense effects.

Which controller fits each type of player?
You want the closest thing to a first-party PS5 experience
Choose the DualSense Edge. Its two rear controls are the price of retaining native integration, saved profiles, adjustable settings and replaceable stick modules.
You change layouts or play fighting games
Choose the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded. Its interchangeable modules, including a six-button fightpad, address a physical-layout problem that extra paddles alone cannot solve. Accept the loss of DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers.
You want four rear inputs and magnetic-sensing sticks
Compare the Razer Raiju V3 Pro and Nacon Revolution 5 Pro. Razer’s differentiators are TMR sticks, removable rear buttons and PS5/Windows compatibility. Nacon combines Hall-effect sticks with extensive configuration, but its documented requirement for a DualSense to wake PS5 or PS4 may affect your routine.
You want four paddles in a familiar shell
Choose the SCUF Reflex Pro after confirming the exact variant’s stick and PS5-feature specifications. Its PlayStation-style shape and paddle layout are the main reasons to select it.

Checks to complete before ordering
- Confirm the exact model name and revision, especially for SCUF variants and the Victrix Reloaded package.
- Read the local manufacturer listing for current price, stock, warranty and return conditions; these details are not stable across regions.
- Verify whether the controller is wired, wireless or both, and whether your preferred connection mode is supported on PS5.
- Check the remapping method and profile count instead of assuming that every four-button controller stores profiles in the same way.
- Decide whether you need DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in the games you play most. If yes, retain a standard DualSense or select the Edge.
- For Nacon, make sure a Sony DualSense is available to wake the console.
- For SCUF, verify the exact stick technology and trigger features because components vary by variant.
Bottom line
The DualSense Edge remains the safest all-round recommendation for PS5 owners who want customization without giving up first-party behavior. Buy the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded for true modularity, the Razer Raiju V3 Pro for removable rear buttons and TMR sticks, the Nacon Revolution 5 Pro for four-button configuration with Hall-effect sticks, or the SCUF Reflex Pro for four paddles in a familiar PlayStation-style shape. Every third-party choice requires a deliberate decision about losing DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, and the Nacon adds a specific wake-up requirement that should be part of your setup plan.
