The SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless is the strongest premium PS4 headset recommendation across the reviewed roundups, while the HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless is the standout if long battery life matters most. For a lower-cost wired route, consider the PlayStation-licensed HyperX Cloud; for an official Sony wireless option, choose PULSE 3D and use its included adaptor.

Best overall: SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless
Both GamesRadar+ (2026) and Stuff (2025) place the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless at the top of their PS4 recommendations. GamesRadar+ highlights clear audio and a high-quality microphone, and says it works with PS4 and PS5. Stuff describes it as a premium console option and lists 40 mm drivers, a 337 g weight and up to 44 hours of battery life when using its two batteries.
The swappable-battery system and base station make it a compelling choice for long sessions and players who value flexibility. The trade-off is its high price. If you only need a headset for PS4, the cost of premium base-station and multi-platform features may not be worthwhile.
Best battery life: HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless
Stuff (2025) lists up to 300 hours of battery life for the Cloud Alpha Wireless, alongside 50 mm drivers and a 317 g weight. It uses a USB dongle, has a detachable microphone, and is reported to support PS4. Its unusually long stated battery life makes it a strong option if frequent charging is your main frustration.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That battery figure is a manufacturer-style maximum reported by Stuff, not a guarantee of runtime in every use. Actual life can vary with settings and use, and the cited information does not provide a directly comparable test against the other headsets here.
Best official Sony option: PULSE 3D Wireless Headset
Sony confirms that PULSE 3D works wirelessly with PS4 when connected using its included wireless adaptor. Sony also specifies dual noise-cancelling microphones and up to 12 hours of wireless play. The headset is designed around PlayStation, but Sony’s 3D-audio tuning is primarily aimed at PS5, so PS4 buyers should not assume every PS5-focused audio feature carries over in the same way.

RTINGS’ comparison finds that PULSE 3D delivers audio more consistently than the Arctis 7P, but rates the Arctis 7P better for comfort, build and boom-microphone performance. Depending on your priorities, Sony’s official console fit may matter more than those comparative advantages.

The HyperX Cloud (model 4P5H9AA) is a straightforward wired option: plug its 3.5 mm connection into the PS4 controller, with no wireless adaptor or charging routine required. HP/HyperX identifies it as a PlayStation Official Licensed Product and lists an aluminum frame and detachable microphone. A wired connection also avoids wireless battery limits, though the cable restricts movement compared with a wireless headset.

How to choose a PS4 headset
Choose the connection that suits your setup
- 3.5 mm wired: Connects directly to the DualShock 4 controller and avoids headset battery management. The HyperX Cloud is the documented licensed example here.
- Wireless USB or adaptor: Check that the exact headset includes the required receiver and that your PS4 setup supports it. PULSE 3D uses its included adaptor; the Cloud Alpha Wireless uses a USB dongle.
- Base station: Can add convenient battery swapping and connectivity options, as with the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, but may be unnecessary for a PS4-only player.
Prioritize what you notice in play
- Microphone: GamesRadar+ praises the Nova Pro Wireless microphone, while RTINGS reports a better boom mic on Arctis 7P than on PULSE 3D. A detachable mic, as on the cited HyperX models, is useful when you do not need voice chat.
- Comfort and weight: Comfort depends on fit as well as weight. Stuff lists the Nova Pro Wireless at 337 g and Cloud Alpha Wireless at 317 g; RTINGS favors Arctis 7P over PULSE 3D for comfort.
- Audio consistency and positioning: RTINGS finds PULSE 3D more consistent in audio delivery than Arctis 7P. EQ customization and some other feature controls may be more limited on PS4 than on PS5 or PC.
- Use beyond PS4: If you also play on PS5 or PC, platform compatibility and extra connectivity can justify a more expensive model. Confirm support for your specific devices rather than assuming every feature works across platforms.
