For a practical starting point in Gears of War: E-Day on PC, use Medium at 1080p, High at 1440p, or Ultra at 4K, matching the published launch targets. Those targets specify 60 fps at 1080p and 60+ fps at 1440p and 4K, with a supported upscaler. They are specifications, not a promise of the same result on every PC or in every scene.

Start with the preset for your resolution

The launch requirements report pairs each performance tier with a preset, resolution, frame-rate target, example graphics cards, and memory and storage requirements. Use the matching row as a baseline, then adjust based on your actual frame rate and image quality. The published targets use DLSS, FSR, TSR, or XeSS; they do not establish a universal best upscaler or guarantee the target on every system. PC Gamer’s October 1, 2026 report reproduces The Coalition’s launch requirements.

Tier Starting preset and target Example GPUs Memory and storage
Minimum Medium; 1080p at 60 fps with DLSS, FSR, TSR, or XeSS RTX 2060 or RTX 5050; RX 6600 or RX 9060 6 GB VRAM, 12 GB RAM, 115 GB SSD
Recommended High; 1440p at 60+ fps with DLSS, FSR, TSR, or XeSS RTX 3060 Ti or RTX 5060; RX 6700 XT or RX 9060 XT 8 GB VRAM, 16 GB RAM, 115 GB SSD
Ultra Ultra; 4K at 60+ fps with DLSS, FSR, TSR, or XeSS RTX 5070 Ti; RX 7900 XT 12 GB VRAM, 16 GB RAM, 115 GB SSD

The cards are examples listed for those tiers, not proof that every GPU in a similar class will perform identically. E-Day’s reported requirement also specifies a hardware ray-tracing-capable graphics card; the report says cards without dedicated hardware ray-tracing support are not supported. Check the full published requirements against your hardware before choosing a target.

Choose an upscaler by testing your own image and frame pacing

The PC feature set includes NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 with Super Resolution and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, NVIDIA Reflex, AMD FSR, Unreal Engine TSR, and Intel XeSS, subject to compatible hardware. E-Day is built on Unreal Engine 5 and DirectX 12. The feature announcement describes options intended to improve frame rate, image quality, latency, or responsiveness, but does not establish one upscaler as best across all configurations. See Xbox Wire’s PC feature announcement.

Compare the supported options at your chosen output resolution. Judge not only average frame rate but also image stability, perceived sharpness, and frame pacing during movement and combat. Multi-frame generation and latency features can affect responsiveness differently from simply lowering rendering resolution, so use the result that feels stable on your setup rather than assuming a single setting suits every GPU.

Advanced Shader Delivery is not a graphics preset

Advanced Shader Delivery can provide precompiled shaders to reduce loading time and first-run shader stutter on compatible systems. Xbox says it is available on supported storefronts, including the Microsoft Store and Xbox PC app, with broader support expected to expand over time. It is a storefront and compatibility feature, not an image-quality option to tune in the graphics menu. Xbox’s announcement has the platform details.

Use the benchmark, then verify in gameplay

The built-in benchmark is useful for repeatable comparisons, but it does not reproduce gameplay exactly. Tom’s Hardware found that its benchmark looked somewhat different and ran slightly slower than its tested gameplay scenes. Make one change at a time, rerun the benchmark for comparison, and then confirm the result in a representative level or combat sequence. See Tom’s Hardware’s performance testing.

Tom’s Hardware also tested five graphics presets and used High for its CPU comparisons. In that test, Medium delivered little extra performance, while CPU scaling became more visible at High. These are observations from that outlet’s test systems, not a guarantee that High is optimal for every player or PC.

Leave Low Core Mode off unless you are troubleshooting

Low Core Mode is a System option, not a general-purpose performance boost. In Tom’s Hardware’s test across 25 CPUs, enabling it reduced performance on the tested processors. In a separate dual-core test, it resolved streaming and pause-menu problems. The outlet did not test mobile processors or handhelds, so treat it as a troubleshooting option for low-core hardware or a handheld rather than enabling it by default. If you try it, compare performance and stability on your own device. Tom’s Hardware’s testing describes those results.
