For most home offices and small teams, the HP LaserJet MFP M200 Series is the strongest Pantum M6512NW alternative because it adds automatic two-sided printing, a larger 150-sheet input tray and a rated speed of up to 31 pages per minute on Letter (30 ppm on A4). Choose the Pantum M6552NW instead if your priority is batch scanning and copying: it keeps the M6512NW’s 22-ppm class output but adds a 35-page automatic document feeder (ADF).
The M6512NW remains a capable monochrome 3-in-1 for straightforward print, copy and scan work. Its decisive limitation is workflow: duplex jobs require manual page reloading, and Pantum’s published specifications do not list an ADF. The right replacement therefore depends less on headline resolution and more on whether you print two-sided documents, process multi-page originals, or share the printer with other people.
At a glance: which alternative fits your work?
| Model | Best for | Print speed | Duplexing | ADF | Input tray | Connectivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pantum M6512NW | Basic home-office printing, copying and scanning | 22 ppm A4; 23 ppm Letter | Manual | Not listed by Pantum | Not stated | USB, Ethernet/network, Wi-Fi, Pantum mobile app |
| HP LaserJet MFP M200 Series | Frequent multi-page printing and small teams | Up to 30 ppm A4; 31 ppm Letter | Automatic | Not stated at series level | 150 sheets | Wi-Fi with self-reset, Ethernet; other options depend on suffix |
| Pantum M6552NW | Batch copying and scanning while staying with Pantum | 22 ppm | Not stated in the cited specifications | 35 sheets | Not stated | USB, network and Wi-Fi |
Manufacturer ratings are not a promise of the same speed in every job. Graphics, first-page delay, paper handling and a busy network can reduce real throughput. Confirm the exact regional model, included features, toner and warranty before ordering.

What the Pantum M6512NW provides
The M6512NW is a monochrome laser multifunction printer (MFP) aimed at home and office use. It combines printing, copying and scanning in one unit, so it can replace a separate printer and flatbed scanner for routine documents.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Rated output: 22 pages per minute (ppm) on A4 and 23 ppm on Letter.
- Resolution: 1200×1200 dpi for print, copy and scan tasks.
- First page: Pantum specifies the first print in under 7.8 seconds.
- Memory: 128 MB.
- Connections: USB, Ethernet/network and Wi-Fi.
- Mobile work: printing through the Pantum app.
- Copy feature: ID-card double-sided copying.
- Two-sided output: manual duplex mode, which requires the operator to turn or reload pages.
Those specifications cover the core needs of a solo user: occasional reports, invoices, forms and scans from a single sheet. The friction appears when a job contains many pages. Manual duplexing interrupts printing, while the official description does not advertise an automatic document feeder. Multi-page copies and scans may therefore require placing each original on the scanner glass by hand.
How the alternatives differ
The two documented alternatives solve different bottlenecks rather than offering identical upgrades.
HP LaserJet MFP M200 Series: faster automatic duplex printing
HP positions the MFP M200 Series for home-office users and small work teams. Its published series specifications include print, copy and scan functions, automatic two-sided printing, Wi-Fi with self-reset, Ethernet and a 150-sheet input tray. Rated speed reaches up to 31 ppm on Letter and 30 ppm on A4.
Automatic duplexing is the important change. The printer handles the page turn internally, so a 20-page report can print on both sides without the user standing by to reload a stack. The higher speed rating also shortens long single-sided jobs, although the actual time still depends on document complexity and the specific model.

Why the exact HP suffix matters
HP presents these features at the series level, not as one universal configuration. Regional suffixes can change wireless, fax, tray or other hardware details. Before purchase, open the specification page for the exact model sold in your country and verify that automatic duplexing, the 150-sheet tray and the connections you need are listed for that suffix.
Pantum M6552NW: the same-brand ADF upgrade
The M6552NW keeps the general Pantum role and 22-ppm monochrome output while adding a standard 35-page automatic document feeder. It also retains USB, network and Wi-Fi connectivity for print, copy and scan work.
An ADF changes scanning and copying rather than printing. Place a stack of originals in the feeder and the machine advances each sheet automatically, which is substantially easier than lifting the scanner lid for every page. This is the most natural choice for a user who likes the M6512NW’s interface and network behavior but regularly digitizes receipts, signed forms or multi-page contracts.

The cited specifications do not establish automatic duplex printing for the M6552NW. Treat its advantage as feeder capacity, not as proof of hands-free two-sided output, and confirm the local specification sheet if duplex printing is a requirement.

Automatic duplexing and an ADF solve different problems
| Feature | What it automates | Who benefits most | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Automatic duplex printing | Turns or routes printed sheets so both sides can be produced in one job | Anyone printing reports, proposals, school work or internal documents on both sides | It does not feed a stack of paper originals for scanning |
| Automatic document feeder | Moves multiple original pages through the scanner for copying or scanning | Users digitizing or copying multi-page documents | It does not automatically print on both sides unless the model also has duplex hardware |
Choose automatic duplexing when your queue is mostly documents that need two-sided output. Choose an ADF when the time is spent preparing originals for scans or copies. A small business that does both should verify both features explicitly; neither one can be inferred from the word “multifunction.”
Which printer should you choose?
Choose the HP MFP M200 Series when print workflow is the problem
- You print multi-page documents several times a week.
- You want two-sided output without manually turning paper.
- You share the printer with a small team and need a larger input reserve.
- A rated ceiling of 31 ppm Letter or 30 ppm A4 is useful for your workload.
- You can verify the exact regional suffix before buying.
The HP is the more substantial step up from the M6512NW for output volume. Its 150-sheet tray also reduces interruptions compared with a smaller tray, although the M6512NW’s tray capacity is not stated in the published material and cannot be compared numerically.
Choose the Pantum M6552NW when scanning and copying are the problem
- You routinely process batches of originals.
- A 35-page feeder is more valuable than a higher print-speed rating.
- You want to retain Pantum’s USB, network and Wi-Fi workflow.
- You already understand the M6512NW’s controls and mobile-printing approach.
This model is a focused productivity upgrade. It does not increase the cited 22-ppm output class, so it will not make a large print queue finish faster.
Keep the M6512NW when your jobs are short and mostly one-sided
Replacing it is difficult to justify if you print a few pages at a time, scan single sheets and rarely need two-sided output. Its 1200×1200-dpi resolution, under-7.8-second first-print claim and three connection methods already cover normal home-office documents. The manual steps become costly only when they recur often enough to interrupt your work.

Connectivity and placement for a small office
The M6512NW supports direct USB, wired Ethernet/networking and Wi-Fi. That gives a home user a direct cable option, a stable wired path for a desk near a router and wireless access for laptops and phones. Mobile printing is handled through the Pantum app.
The HP series lists Wi-Fi with self-reset and Ethernet. Self-reset is intended to restore a wireless connection after certain connectivity failures, but it does not eliminate the need for correct network credentials or a compatible local network. The M6552NW is documented with USB, network and Wi-Fi as well.
For a shared printer, use Ethernet when practical and reserve Wi-Fi for rooms where cabling is inconvenient. Place the unit where the paper path can be opened fully, leave clearance for the output stack and avoid a location that makes manual duplex reloading awkward. A printer that technically fits a shelf can still be inefficient if the operator cannot reach its input and output trays.
Buying checklist before you order
- Define the dominant task. Count how often you print two-sided documents versus how often you scan or copy multiple originals. The first points to automatic duplexing; the second points to an ADF.
- Check the exact model code. Do not treat a series name as a complete specification. Regional suffixes can alter included hardware and support terms.
- Verify the paper path. Confirm automatic duplexing for the precise model, not merely “duplex-capable” language in a retailer listing.
- Confirm feeder capacity. If batch scanning matters, look for an explicitly stated ADF size. The M6552NW’s documented capacity is 35 pages.
- Match the network. Decide whether you need USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi or all three. For a team, ensure the printer can join the office network without relying on one person’s computer.
- Check operating-region details. Toner availability, cartridge part numbers, warranty coverage and service channels vary by market. These details are not established by the general series descriptions.
- Price the consumables locally. Current purchase price, toner yield and running cost were not stated in the cited specifications. Use the cartridge yield and local replacement price for your exact model to estimate cost per page.
- Review return and support terms. A model that is easy to buy but difficult to service can be a poor small-business choice. Confirm who handles warranty claims in your country.
Practical workflow improvements
If you keep the M6512NW
- Print two-sided jobs in clearly separated batches so the manual reload step is less error-prone.
- Use the network connection for shared access and USB when a direct, isolated connection is preferable.
- For multi-page scans, number or lightly sort originals before placing them on the glass; this reduces page-order mistakes when each sheet must be handled separately.
- Use the ID-card double-sided copy function for identity documents instead of attempting to align both sides manually.
If you buy the HP series
- Set the driver’s default to two-sided printing only if your common documents suit it; otherwise leave one-sided output as the default and select duplex per job.
- Load the 150-sheet tray with the media type specified for your chosen model and keep specialty paper separate.
- Test wireless printing from every user’s operating system before moving the printer into its permanent location.
If you buy the M6552NW
- Fan and square the original stack before loading the 35-page ADF.
- Keep staples, clips and folded corners out of the feeder to reduce jams.
- Use the flatbed for fragile, thick or irregular originals even when the ADF is available.
Common pitfalls and how to avoid them
Assuming “multifunction” means ADF included
Multifunction describes the combination of print, copy and scan features. It does not guarantee an automatic feeder. Pantum lists the M6552NW’s 35-page ADF explicitly, while the M6512NW description does not advertise one.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Assuming a faster rating guarantees faster every-day jobs
The HP’s 31/30-ppm rating is a maximum manufacturer rating for Letter/A4 conditions. First-page time, processing, network traffic and mixed media can make a short job look similar to a slower printer. Use the rating to compare sustained document output, not as a promise for every page.
Buying a regional variant without checking consumables
Model suffixes and cartridge inventories differ by market. Verify the toner part number, local stock, warranty provider and supported voltage before payment. A specification that is correct for one country may not apply to another.
Expecting an ADF to provide duplex printing
The M6552NW’s documented 35-page feeder automates original handling. It does not, by itself, establish automatic two-sided printing. Check for a separate duplex specification if that workflow is essential.
Costs, toner and support: what is not established
The available manufacturer specifications do not provide a comparable current street price, toner yield, cost per page or warranty term for these models. Those figures change with region, retailer, cartridge size and promotions. Obtain them from the local product page or authorized seller for the exact suffix you intend to buy.
For a realistic ownership estimate, calculate the expected monthly pages, divide the cartridge price by its stated yield, and add any replacement drum or maintenance items listed for that model. Keep the calculation separate for standard and high-yield cartridges; their economics can differ even when the printer is identical.
Bottom-line recommendation
Buy the HP LaserJet MFP M200 Series when automatic duplex printing, a 150-sheet tray and higher rated throughput will remove daily interruptions. Buy the Pantum M6552NW when a 35-page ADF is the feature that will save the most time and you prefer to remain in Pantum’s ecosystem. Keep the Pantum M6512NW for light, mostly one-sided work where its 22/23-ppm output, 1200×1200-dpi resolution and USB/Ethernet/Wi-Fi connectivity already meet the need. In every case, verify the country-specific model, toner supply and warranty before ordering.
