The strongest no-logs evidence in the available 2026 material comes from Proton VPN, NordVPN and ExpressVPN—but the audits differ in date, scope and report access, so they do not establish a single “best” VPN or support a verified list of seven. Use the findings as evidence about specific systems and claims at specific times, not as a guarantee about future conduct or a ranking for speed, streaming or ease of use.
Which no-logs VPNs have dated audit evidence?
These providers have published information about independent assessments. The details below are attributed to each provider’s announcement; an announcement’s summary is not a substitute for reading the full report where it is available.

The assessments are not interchangeable: they cover different systems and claims, and the available information does not establish a standardized, seven-provider comparison. Proton’s apps being open source is a separate transparency point, not an extension of what its audit examined.

What does a no-logs audit actually establish?
An audit is a bounded examination of specified systems, controls and procedures. Its conclusion applies to the scope and period examined. It cannot establish that every system was examined, that a provider’s operations will never change, or that the same conclusion will hold indefinitely. Treat “audited” as evidence about a defined assessment—not proof that logging could never occur.

When evaluating a provider’s claim, check the assessment date, the systems and policy language covered, the auditor’s stated conclusion, and whether you can inspect the report rather than only a company summary. A recent assessment can still have a narrow scope; an older assessment does not automatically describe current operations.
Does a no-logs VPN make you anonymous?
No. A VPN shifts trust to its operator; it does not make you anonymous. A website can identify you when you sign in or share identifying information, and browser fingerprinting can still distinguish your browser. A no-logs audit addresses a provider’s specified logging claims, not every way your identity or activity may be linked.

How should you choose among these audited options?
- If inspectability matters most: Proton links its 2026 Securitum report publicly. NordVPN says its full report requires a Nord Account; ExpressVPN’s announcement does not state whether the full KPMG report is available.
- If the scope matters most: Compare the named systems and claims in the table with the service features you intend to use. NordVPN’s announcement names several server types; ExpressVPN’s describes TrustedServer and privacy-policy claims; Proton describes infrastructure and its no-logs policy.
- If recency matters most: Compare the assessment dates themselves, not just the provider’s count of audits. The latest dated material here is Proton’s 2026 audit; NordVPN’s final report is dated December 12, 2025, and ExpressVPN’s assessment concerns systems and claims as of February 28, 2025.
- If you need performance or streaming guidance: These audit announcements do not provide a comparable basis for choosing by speed, streaming reliability, price or ease of use. Assess those needs separately rather than treating no-logs evidence as a proxy.
