For most photographers, start with Photo Mode Unlocker 2.3 XL and Photomode Tweaks. The first removes many Photo Mode restrictions and adds poses; the second makes the camera feel responsive, extends its travel distance to as much as 2,000 metres, and expands FOV and depth-of-field controls. Add Photo Mode Pose Selector for searchable poses, or use Photomode UI Improvements when you want an entire studio workflow. For shots outside the normal play space, use FreeFly (Noclip) instead. These tools extend Cyberpunk 2077’s already improved Update 2.2 Photo Mode rather than replacing a missing foundation.

Cyberpunk 2077 has two different modding jobs that are easy to confuse. A Photo Mode mod changes the in-game Photo Mode interface, camera limits, poses or editing tools. A world camera changes how you view the game while you are playing, often through Cyber Engine Tweaks (CET). If you want one practical starting point, install Photo Mode Unlocker 2.3 XL first, then add Photomode Tweaks if camera distance and responsiveness are your limiting factors. Add only the specialist tool that answers your next problem; overlapping camera and interface changes are easier to diagnose when introduced one at a time.
What the unmodded game already provides
CD PROJEKT RED’s Update 2.2 expanded the native Photo Mode with improved camera modes, greater camera range, support for up to three additional characters and new lighting options. That matters when choosing mods: you are extending a capable baseline, not repairing an unusable camera.

Use the stock mode first to identify the actual constraint in your shot. If you simply need an extra actor, a different light or a little more range, Update 2.2 may already solve it. Install a mod when you need a restriction removed, a control made more precise, a large pose library, or a camera that can leave the normal play area.
Photo Mode Unlocker 2.3 XL: the broad starting point
Photo Mode Unlocker 2.3 XL is the most general-purpose foundation in this group. Its current listing calls it “A Photo Mode overhaul and framework that removes most restrictions, adds new features and poses updated for Patch 2.3.” In practical terms, it is the first mod to consider when the stock mode prevents a shot because of a limit rather than because you lack an editing tool.
What it is good at
- Removing many of the restrictions built into Photo Mode.
- Providing a framework for additional Photo Mode features.
- Adding poses while keeping the work inside the familiar Photo Mode context.
- Serving as the base for a minimal camera stack or a pose-oriented setup.
What it does not replace
The listing does not establish a 2,000-metre travel range, an animation timeline, a layer system or a searchable pose browser for this mod. Those are reasons to add Photomode Tweaks, Photomode UI Improvements or Photo Mode Pose Selector respectively. Treat Unlocker as the broad restriction-removal layer, not as proof that every specialist feature is included.

The relevant listing is updated for Patch 2.3. Cyberpunk 2077 mods can change requirements when the game or a framework changes, so read the current Nexus Mods requirements and changelog immediately before installing, even if the file name still looks familiar.
Photomode Tweaks: range, FOV and a less floaty camera
Photomode Tweaks is the choice when the camera itself feels like the bottleneck. Its listing says it “removes lag / momentum when moving the camera,” which makes small framing corrections less slippery. It also provides a “basically” freecam that increases the distance you can move the camera in all directions by 2,000 metres, and expands field-of-view (FOV) and depth-of-field controls.
Why camera inertia matters
Camera momentum is most noticeable in close portraits, where a tiny input can carry the frame past an eye line or hair edge. Removing that lag helps with repeatable adjustments: move, stop, check the composition and make a smaller correction without waiting for the camera to settle. It is a control change, not a claim that the mod improves image quality by itself.

When the distance extension is useful
- Pulling back for a very wide city or landscape composition.
- Placing the camera far from a subject while keeping a long-lens-looking composition through FOV adjustment.
- Finding a clear line through architecture, signage or crowds that blocks the stock camera.
- Building cinematic transitions that need more room than ordinary Photo Mode allows.
A large travel range does not guarantee that every distant location will render correctly. Streaming, geometry and lighting can behave differently at extreme distances, so move out gradually and check the result at the intended capture position.

Photomode Tweaks requires TweakXL. Install the exact TweakXL version named on the current mod page, and do not assume that another TweakXL-dependent mod has already installed a compatible copy.
Photomode UI Improvements: a full studio workflow
Photomode UI Improvements is aimed at photographers who spend more time organizing subjects and animations than simply moving a camera. Its author describes a workflow intended to let you “spend less time fighting the menu and more time taking the shot.” The feature set includes a pose browser, mouse-wheel positioning, an animation timeline, layers and photo-editor tools.
Pose and animation control
The pose browser is valuable when a project uses a large library: searching and browsing is faster than cycling through an unstructured list. The animation timeline is the reason to choose this mod for moving gestures, timing a glance or finding a precise frame in an animation rather than accepting a static pose.
Positioning and layered editing
Mouse-wheel positioning gives you a direct way to move subjects while working through the interface. Layers and photo-editor tools are useful when a scene has several characters, effects or editing passes that need to remain separable. The available data does not establish a fixed number of layers or a maximum positioning distance, so do not treat those values as guaranteed specifications.

Install the required frameworks first, then enable optional integrations only when you need them and have confirmed their versions on the current pages.

When not to choose it first
If your only problem is a sluggish camera or insufficient distance, Photomode Tweaks is the narrower solution. A larger interface suite introduces more moving parts, so a minimal setup is easier to maintain for occasional portraits.
Photo Mode Pose Selector: searchable posing without a full studio suite
Photo Mode Pose Selector is the focused choice for character direction. It organizes poses and expressions with search and favorites, adds Look At Camera controls, and can freeze characters individually. Those functions address a common portrait problem: finding a particular expression, keeping one actor still while another changes, or making eye lines consistent across a group.
Search and favorites
Use the search and favorites features when you return to a recurring character, outfit or visual series. Mark the poses that work for your project instead of repeatedly scanning the entire library. The available pose names and any filtering syntax can change, so follow the labels shown by the current mod rather than relying on an old tutorial.

Look At Camera and per-character freezing
Look At Camera controls are useful for portraits where the subject should acknowledge the lens while the body remains in a stylized pose. Per-character freezing lets you hold one subject in place while you adjust another, which is especially helpful for group shots. This is a posing and organization tool; it is not the choice for a 2,000-metre freecam or an out-of-bounds flight mode.
FreeFly (Noclip): a world camera for fly-throughs and out-of-bounds views
FreeFly (Noclip) is for shots that leave the normal Photo Mode envelope. It is tagged for Cyber Engine Tweaks and is designed as a free camera for exploring and filming the game world. Version 2.4 was updated on 19 July 2025 and added an option to ignore camera angle, locking the camera’s height unless Space or Shift is used, while also fixing bugs.
Choose FreeFly for these projects
- High or low establishing shots that ordinary Photo Mode cannot reach.
- Fly-throughs and moving-camera sequences across a large environment.
- Out-of-bounds compositions where the player character does not need to be the subject.
- Location scouting before you return to Photo Mode for a final still.
Understand the trade-off
FreeFly changes the world camera, not the Photo Mode pose and editor workflow. It will not provide a pose browser, expression search, Look At Camera controls or layers. Keep a separate save for experiments: a noclip-style gameplay tool has a different risk profile from a Photo Mode interface extension, and its behavior can affect ordinary play until you disable it.

Immersive Third Person and Immersive First Person: perspective complements
Immersive Third Person
Immersive Third Person is useful when the camera perspective during ordinary on-foot movement is part of the image. It enables an on-foot free orbit, changing how you view and control the world rather than expanding Photo Mode’s internal pose or editor features. The author warns that MO2’s virtual file system may be unstable, so test the installation method you use before building a large mod list around it.

Immersive First Person
Immersive First Person reworks first-person height and camera behavior and supports CET FreeLook. It is a perspective and control mod for gameplay, not a dedicated Photo Mode pose system. The author documents a conflict with the Shift camera mod; do not run both without checking whether a current compatibility update exists.
When to combine a perspective mod with Photo Mode tools
Use these mods to scout, stage or experience a scene from a particular perspective, then use the dedicated Photo Mode stack for posing and capture. Keep the distinction clear when troubleshooting: a perspective mod changing normal play cannot fix a Photo Mode-only restriction.

Minimal camera stack
Photo Mode Unlocker 2.3 XL + Photomode Tweaks is the efficient starting pair. Unlocker removes broad restrictions and adds poses; Photomode Tweaks supplies responsive movement, the extended travel range, FOV and depth-of-field controls. Choose this when you care most about distance, framing and camera feel, and do not need a timeline or layered editor.
Pose-heavy portrait stack
Photo Mode Unlocker 2.3 XL + Photo Mode Pose Selector keeps the setup centered on character direction. You gain Unlocker’s broad Photo Mode extensions plus searchable poses, expressions, favorites, Look At Camera and per-character freezing. Appearance Menu Mod (AMM) can be considered for spawning props and moving subjects, while CharLi can be considered for lighting, but verify each tool’s current requirements before adding it; they are secondary additions, not substitutes for the two core camera and pose tools.
Full studio workflow
Photomode UI Improvements is the natural centerpiece when you need a pose browser, animation timeline, mouse-wheel positioning, layers and photo-editor tools. Install Codeware, RED4ext and redscript as required, then add optional PhotoMode-EX or TweakXL integrations only if the current listing says your setup supports them. Because this suite overlaps some camera and interface behavior with Photomode Tweaks, introduce changes one at a time and retain a known-good backup.

World exploration and cinematic fly-throughs
FreeFly (Noclip) is the specialist choice. Use it with a separate save and treat it as a gameplay camera, not as another Photo Mode panel. The angle-ignore and height-lock option in version 2.4 is particularly useful when you want a level, controlled flight path.
Perspective work
Choose Immersive Third Person for on-foot free orbit or Immersive First Person for CET FreeLook and a reworked first-person height and camera. These are complements to, not replacements for, the dedicated Photo Mode stack.

Mod requirements and version numbers are volatile. Perform this checklist immediately before every new installation or game update.

- Use a managed workflow where possible. CD PROJEKT RED’s modding documentation covers Vortex and Mod Organizer 2. Pick one manager and keep its handling of CET and RED4ext files consistent; the documentation warns against mixing unmanaged manual files with a manager without a clear plan.
- Add one behavior-changing mod at a time. Launch the game, enter the relevant camera or Photo Mode, and verify that the new control works before adding the next overlapping feature.
- Keep a clean rollback point. Back up saves and preserve the last working mod profile before changing frameworks or large Photo Mode suites.
Conflict and failure troubleshooting
The game starts, but a camera control does nothing
Check that you are using the correct context. Photomode Tweaks controls Photo Mode; FreeFly and CET FreeLook affect the world camera. Then verify the dependency version named on the mod page, especially TweakXL, RED4ext, redscript, Codeware or CET. Disable the most recently added overlapping camera mod and retest.
Photo Mode opens but the interface is broken
Photomode UI Improvements and Photomode Tweaks can overlap in camera and UI behavior. Remove one change, launch again and add features back individually. If you use optional PhotoMode-EX or TweakXL integrations, test the base suite before enabling the optional layer.
A perspective mod causes instability
For Immersive Third Person, test without MO2’s virtual file system if the author’s warning applies to your setup. For Immersive First Person, remove the Shift camera mod when checking the documented conflict. Do not diagnose both at the same time; isolate the conflicting pair first.
A distant shot has missing or unstable scenery
Move the camera back in smaller increments and allow the environment to stream before judging the composition. A 2,000-metre control range is a movement allowance, not a guarantee that every asset, light or effect will remain fully represented at that distance.
An update breaks the setup
Disable the newest mod or framework, restore the known-good profile, and read the current Nexus Mods changelogs and requirements. Do not overwrite a working save with an experimental configuration; use the separate save recommended for FreeFly-style testing.
A practical capture workflow
- Scout the location. Use the stock camera or FreeFly when the scene requires out-of-bounds exploration. Decide whether the final image needs a world camera or Photo Mode.
- Choose the foundation. Use Photo Mode Unlocker 2.3 XL for broad Photo Mode restrictions, then select Photomode Tweaks, Pose Selector or UI Improvements according to the specific task.
- Stage subjects. Use Pose Selector for searchable poses, expressions, favorites, Look At Camera and individual freezing. Use UI Improvements when timing an animation or working with layers.
- Set camera geometry. Use Photomode Tweaks for responsive movement, extended distance, FOV and depth-of-field. Make small adjustments after disabling momentum so the framing is repeatable.
- Refine light and perspective. Use the native Update 2.2 lighting options where they meet the brief. Consider AMM for props or moving subjects and CharLi for lighting only after checking current compatibility.
- Capture and preserve the setup. Save the final image, note the active mod profile and keep the working save separate from experiments so you can recreate the shot after an update.
How to decide without installing everything
- Restriction is the problem: choose Photo Mode Unlocker 2.3 XL.
- Movement feels floaty or the camera cannot travel far enough: choose Photomode Tweaks, with TweakXL.
- You need to search poses, direct eye lines or freeze actors independently: choose Photo Mode Pose Selector.
- You need a timeline, layers and a broad editing workspace: choose Photomode UI Improvements with Codeware, RED4ext and redscript.
- You need to leave the normal world camera area: choose FreeFly (Noclip) and use a separate save.
- You want a different ordinary gameplay viewpoint: choose Immersive Third Person or Immersive First Person, checking their specific compatibility warnings.
Start with the smallest stack that solves the shot. Cyberpunk 2077’s Update 2.2 Photo Mode already supplies improved modes, range, extra characters and lighting; targeted additions are usually more reliable than installing every camera and UI overhaul together.
